Premium Member Oh Goddess Moon

Oh Goddess Moon, you induce painters to paint,
the crazed to rave and poets to praise your grace.
How many love affairs have you helped to consummate?
With a woman’s many wiles, you change your shape.
How you beguile, yet never do you vacillate.
You stay your course and never stray!

Like yin to yang, you are to sun a cool and pallid pool,
changing, yet constant in your rule
as you steadfastly move from New to Quarter To Gibbous to Full,
and then you wane . . .
till in Crescent Balsamic you reign -
there to shortly contemplate the wisdom you have gained.
Your fortnight ended, you journey back again.

We all beneath you are an ocean mystically pulled,
heirs to the gifts you weave at the time we are born.
Like our predecessors who learned to heed
your rhythmic sounds as they planted seed,
it would behoove us, with our vast technology,
to stop and study the sky, your teachings there to see!

Premium Member Deception - POTD

POTD 4th Nov 2019

Vanquishing all reservation
 twilight's prelude heralds
 shadowy anticipation
of a secret amorous thirst
He surrenders once more
to his darkest desires
amplifies the sultry ambiance
with star spangled bursts

A slave in her entity
tremulous in her splendour
Captivating and illuminating
this shadowy tryst
yet her heart beats not in rhythm
to the songs he composes
she dismisses him once more

 Saying… ‘it is what it is’
However, through chinks of his ardour
ebbing resplendence
Predominant primacy
hard to resist will persist
refusing to believe …’it is what it is’
refusing to believe …’it is what it is’

The intricacies of love
too difficult to fathom
Her preference mismatched
he cannot define
her daily mantra
heightens sensations
reserved for the one
 who appears to outshine?

Nothing but ineffectual
is her discordant course
the unyielding reality
of it drives him insane
and through the ebbing darkness
she hears him screaming ….’it is NOT what it is
It is Not what it is’

No satin ropes will tether
her cosmic line of duty
No romantic soft liaison
would induce her to stay
Tremulous and tender
her love cruelly wanders
from his romantic serenade
she turns her light away
Succumbs to his enemy…Day

 whispering softly…. ‘it is what it is
It is what it is’

May one love you like Shakespeare?
Write verses to bring you near.
In delicate sighless sips,
taste wine from your drunken lips,
as drops induce and seduce,
become drunk from your sweet juice.

Premium Member Effects of Words

Written: October 05, 2023
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Words are just darts thrown toward meaning.
In a linguistic dance, they find their gleaming
With every utterance, their aim takes flight.
Seeking understanding, conquering the night
But with atrocity on their hands, they agreed,
Words have the power to induce hearts to bleed.
Each syllable is a weapon, sharp and true.
Words can build bridges or tear them in two.
In this world of language, where battles are fought,
Words hold the key to the lessons we're taught.
They can heal wounds or inflict eminent pain.
They can inspire love or drive us insane.
Yet, words are just darts thrown toward meaning.
Often missing their mark, often careening.
Can be twisted, misunderstood, lost in translation,
Landing in hearts with a different vibration.
But still, we wield them, hoping to convey
The depths of our thoughts, the emotions at play
We string them together, akin to pearls on a thread.
Crafting stories, poems, and songs to be said
Words are our canvas, our palette, our brush,
Painting pictures of joy, sorrow, and hush.
They can capture a moment, freeze it in time,
Or transport us to places, worlds so sublime.
Premium Member Chocolate Girl
Her luxurious penthouse
is like a cocoon with plenty of pretty distractions,
so she keeps her door firmly closed,
because she prefers fantasy
over the handicap of reality.
Afraid of light,
her malingering mind,
keeps her hidden inside.
To shield her from the sun,
she won't open the curtains,
as she thinks it's certain,
her mechanisms may melt.
Shyness is her veiled excuse
to separate her from society,
But it's the anxiety, anxiety, anxiety!
Preferring to be an option,
rather than a priority
her caution from socialising,
breeds from the alarm bells,
set from abandonment,
betrayal and manipulation.
Trust is her terrorist.
People hunt like packs of wolves,
devouring her mind like a candy snack.
Fears of her heart are like an aeroplane,
shaking from a turbulent storm,
with her hopes forever crashing.
Trying to forget in a flash of courage,
she takes one step towards the door,
but the noises in her head become louder,
and Louder and LOUDER!!!!
repeating, Repeating, REPEATING!
Violent vibrations induce vertigo,
silent screams screw with her sanity,
struggling to breathe, feeling like
air is being sucked out of her lungs,
she vomits, collapsing to the floor.
Nothing can take off the 'edge',
the therapists do not work.
There she remains in her internal prison,
away from her eternal nightmares.
Safe in her sanctuary,
from engagement with stranger's eyes.
Like a chocolate bar
in her shiny wrapper,
that looks so sweet
but feels so darkly bitter.
WTF burning bright with pondering ink.
Graceful swans or blackbirds skedaddling
across the vast and empty space. The think
kerplunking into cavernous link.
The quill flying…descriptives diving
onto the writer’s canvas…surviving.
WTF, loud and clear, dear John…
the calligraphic rend of relationship…
The salutation is a haunting paragon.
Parisian-perfumed paper is withdrawn.
The ebony of the crow’s feather, fitting.
His abdominals are eternally splitting.
WTF, wet with mascara tears. Joy
at the indoctrination of its mirth,
bearing personalities of a girl and boy.
To induce was another cousin’s ploy -
joining in on the birth experience fun,
flexing his muscles, nearly triplets spun.
WTF, wading in pools of grace, prayerful rest
of folded hands - serenity glides over vellum.
The ink, so gentle, melodic, transfigured, blessed.
Saint’s swan lyrics  - God’s glory expressed.
Whisper of angels, feathers like baby’s-breath.
Resurrected quill in pall of Christ’s death.
The garden of the world has no limits except in your mind. Its presence is more beautiful than the stars with more clarity than the polished mirror of your heart. By Rumi
Clinging comely crimson cleome curb cosmos
Sky is nebulous with dusk, owing to camos
Ornaments that balmily flicker in the background
Amid whirlpools of jade, scarlet, and indigo found.
Nothing beats a comely asterism of fall nights
To gaze up at the stars and relish the sights
Space wideness may induce mankind to fear
We fathom how desultory we are, through tears.
Diaphanous moon beams brighten the land
Crafting creepy casts curdling children's strands
But the moon is breathtaking in its own right
With a million-year-old mountains and sights.
Amid a silvery sky ignited by the moon
Lonesome island of stars, in a druid swoon
Streets that glisten with dazzling lighting
Crystals of iridescent amethyst shining.
Efflorescence is diaphanous in appearance
Lawns are studded by ruddy lilac buds entrance
Creepy crawlies in azure wind their way upward
Gazebos are sleek and clad in ivory word.
Wispy clouds start to split or disperse
Nebulous mist of the island, to immerse
Elysian Symphony builds to a crescendo
Regarding the violin-produced echo.
Cosmic bodies aligned akin to pins on a map
Assist sailors in spotting their suitable cap
Waterlilies float, creating a gorgeous scene
Lullaby is sung on an idyllic lake, so serene.
The aurora shimmers with an aurified glow
Sewn from spools of gossamer light and flow
A veiled glade is seen by a translucent moon
Rosewood, wisteria, periwinkle, iris leaf tune.
Elixir of gems at night, shine, and dazzle
Host the discovery of feasible ways of gravel
Quintessence of empyreal magnificent form
Bright kaleidoscope prismatic of stars swarm.
A dream is a microscope through which we look at the hidden occurrences in our souls. Erich Fromm
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

In the placidity of the night's embrace,
bewitched the cosmos with an arcane grace.
The moon, a silver orb, may induce its rise.
Oozing its ethereal aurora over the skies

Whispers of worm words waft on wafture wear,
As the stars spangle, their nexus is spare.
The night wiles with its vestigial spell,
Drawing us in, under a talisman dwell.

Penumbras plaster pegs poltergeists of trees,
The twilight augury decry casts souls at ease.
Geezers of nightgown awaken from slumber,
Suing solace in the Cimmerian shade to clamber

The eventide sky overawes with a cosmic array.
Stars bedazzle and coxswain us on our way.
Moonlight sumptuous aura in a gentle glow,
Steer us through the shadow as the nexus flows.

Ebony necromancy decry a glamorous sight.
Drawing us close to the serendipity of the night.
In this cosmic wee hour, dreams bear flight.
Our souls are raised, and our hearts blight.

So let us indulge in this nocturnal delight,
As dusk vamps, squirting a glamor of delight.
Let us wander in the moonlit haze,
As sableness susurrous surreptitious sprays

Wee crepuscule twiddles, a plum night symphony
Where conceit phantasm and verity shed sympathy
Allotting an awareness acumen ariose and aureate
Upon ubiquitous utters uncanny unsophisticate.

Premium Member Sassy Sprite

Tinting crimson-colored clouds;
a blood-red sun sinks from sight.
And Luna slowly ascends,
sculpting shadows with Her light.

Luna's majestic rise can
induce a hypnotic trance.
For, She is a sassy sprite;
and muse to both song and dance.

She adorns the black of space;
like an orchid in the sky.
And when She is in full bloom;
Her beauty warrants a sigh.

Baying wolves pay Her homage;
howling their melodic tune.
And regale the Queen of Night;
celebrating the full moon.

Despite pitting skin and scars,
She evokes wishes and dreams.
And on enchanted evenings;
dances upon sparkling streams.

Premium Member My Drug of Choice

Man-made drugs
Induce an altered state
A psychedelic paradise
Of euphoria
A burst of colors
Impaired reality of dreams
A fix of blissful forgetfulness
Married to ecstasy

What need have I of these?
When I have you
My drug of choice
I will not touch any of the others
But you, I long to touch…
To feel you under my fingertips
To caress before I ingest
And let you posses...

Every way I can have you is good…
I inject
Inhale
Take you in orally
Taste you laced with everything
Under my tongue...

There…ah….there….it begins
I start getting high….
Climbing and climbing
My roller coaster rocketing high
On your words
On the scent of your emotions
On the presence of you in my mind
Who could ever find
A more wholesome or better stimulant...

Yes, you stimulate every part of me
You excite me
Make me delirious
Bring fire to my veins
Drive me insane
Make me oblivious to the pain
Leave me wanting more than the time before
Wanting a larger dose of you
More dangerous
More hallucinogenic
Unaware of my surroundings
I climax on this induced trip
You….my drug of choice
The drug from which
There is not even an iota
Of hope for rehabilitation….EVER...

Every cell to my very core is under your control
I want you coursing in my blood
Flooding my brain
FIX AFTER FIX AFTER FIX
More often…more intense…longer…stronger…
What drug can compare to you?
My ever present addiction…
Opiate of my obsession
Drug of my choice….
YOU!

Eileen Manassian Ghali

Was struck by a bolt of inspiration on this one! :)

Belt it out with Amy Winehouse…..”They wanted to take me to rehab, but I said ‘NO, NO, NO’.” ;) When I teach my students a rule or so in grammar, I say, for example, "Can you use a comma to join two independent clauses? Is it enough punctuation?" Then, in answer, I belt out with Amy..."NO, NO, NO!" They laugh!

The Scatheless Soul

Unseen but ubiquitous,
Savage and surreal,
If not curated but contagious,
Annihilative and aerial,

Then lurking, now loose,
You are the silent stone sepulchre,
Tangling, tormenting; transient truce,
An asphyxiating, aggravating and apocalyptic aperture,

You might among countless thriving throng induce fear,
Cause bountiful bouts of darkness and despair,
You might perhaps possess lives of mankind in multitudes,
Cripple economies and ravage revenues.

Say, can you cease the blowing of wildly winds?
Say, can you banish a bridal blush or a child’s caprice?
Say, can you hold the hanker of a koel for its lilting lyrics, while it sings?
Say, can you shackle the Sun, or rob its rays with your bitter malice?

You are nothing but an atomic annihilator, a sombre spree,
In vain you strive to rule over our spirits free,
We would surmount all sufferings and decimate your derisive decree.

Premium Member Gaslight Me

Gaslight me, baby.

I don't want to hear the truth. Tell me you love me. Say you need me. Promise you'll never leave me. Convince me you think I hung, not just the moon, but the sun and stars as well. Delude me into believing that for you the sex was mind-blowing, that I was enough. Lie to me, sweetheart. Force me to accept that your wedding vows were not meaningless utterances, but absolute truths.

And girl, while you're at it, assure me that the world is at peace. That war, hatred, prejudice and poverty are no more. Sell me on a revisionist historian's view that Hitler was a leper messiah, that six millions Jews did not perish after all, that Nazism is just another benign, political ideology. Hook me on the notion that all the children of the world have full bellies, that homelessness has been eradicated, and that all people on planet earth love one another unconditionally.

Brainwash me into embracing the cliche that love is not a lie and that forever still exists. Make a believer out of me by holding me in your arms so tight that I gasp for air. Sway my mind and heart into accepting that our meeting was not by mere chance, but serendipity. Persuade me. Induce me. Deceive me. But whatever you do, my love, don't dare tell me the truth. Please, I beg, don't ever let me hear you say again,

I'm

leaving

you

Let me live the lie another day. I can bear the delusion, if permitted the illusion.

Gaslight me, baby.

Premium Member What's In the Noose

Long tennis matches stretch on and on for love of deuce,
While endless freight trains mercifully end with a little red caboose.

Domestic snits could be shortened dramatically with a fruit juice truce,
Though kids keep on playing 'Super Elite 4' when they might be watching
   'The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle the Moose.'

Some highly-paid accountants play with their clients' numbers, fast and loose,
As weight-loss specialists do patients' expanding waistlines fail to reduce.

More and more often gynecologists must early labor unexpectedly induce,
So that a healthy, social-media-acceptable baby be rapidly produced.

Romantic poets with winsome words do their audiences seduce,
Since philosophers do airtight, logical conclusions no longer deduce.

Injun squaws are still known to carry their young ones in a papoose.
Whereas a hanging by a noose is a custom quite understandably out of use.

And, of course, the current Oval Office Occupant continues to rule the roost
By tweeting, texting, and twittering a refuse-storm gallopingly profuse.

Which all leads to the inevitable, inescaple, perhaps irrefutable con-cluse
That some people will and others won't throw up their hands, saying
   "What's the Use?!"

Premium Member Peace On Earth

When all squabbles and wars shall cease
As for the complete world, we will create peace
Individuals ought to be more socially adept,
not scolding one another for being incorrect.

Contemplation involves ample guidance,
and eradicates our pretentious contrivance
We might also switch the soul's floodgate
Recognizing that we harvest what we create.

War arises as a struggle for power and land
People at times just need a helping hand
Avoid self-interest and under-mount sinks,
And pleading for humanity to peace winks.

Kindred children are resilient and vitreous
Loss of candor led them to become igneous
We might limit our focus to pursuing peace,
Our voice ought to reflect love, not decease.

My spiritual self serves as my divine guide,
Seeking understanding is a process inside
I buried my treasured self hidden within,
where it will be safe against earthly sin.

I place my trust and faith in the Lord above,
Who has convinced me of the eternity of love?
and perseverance that leaves doubts behind,
I aim to induce peace by myself, but inside.

We should all aspire to coexist in peace,
People suffer when there is such a decrease
because it is profoundly ingrained inside,
With our peace, we are inextricably tied.
