Sigmund Freud reportedly said, “Everywhere I go I find that a poet has been there before me.” Does anyone find that reading and deciphering other poets work, as well as writing our own, can boost a feeling of happiness inside our hearts?

Can readers or authors foresee 
Freed up manic moods and more glee?
Mixed-up word orphans
Induce endorphins
Without a psychiatrist’s fee

OR

What do poem authors desire?
Freed up manic moods and less ire!
We rhyme word orphans
To boost endorphins
So psychiatrists we can fire

I'm not sure why....perhaps it is a connection we all have by being here. On the one hand it seems like a lot of work and distracts from a chance to write more. On the other hand, it helps us think about others and what others are going through. All good.

And my daughter will clean for me now that even cooking and cleaning are so difficult due to my physical conditions. And for me , it helps , and poetry aids with relieving myself as i write thoughts and emotions of those and me , and i believe a poem a day can keep the therapists away! Lol hah! I Am Anaya Date: 4/2/2025 8:24:00 AM Wellness books, spices and herbing cd's, astrologists all charge a fee, the idea of a psychiatrist who's a fit sounds like a difficult task at 200. a pop, whoa. Vegetarians spend a fortune. While poems are free for a good mood and a minute of your time to be supportive, opinions matter, we learn something about ourselves. We can also do our own diagnosing on each other--as we do! . I think I'm finally starting to understand life and its meaning and am just glad that happened before I leave permanently. Now, I think I can even die with a smile! Opinions do matter and it's a pleasure to hear yours. We'll even tolerate some of the other strange ones and may even consider what they have to say (for a second or two!) LOL!! We want to enjoy this short and wonderful opportunity at life, and all the poets here help that along. It takes a bit of work to read and digest but it's well worth it. Be well!!

There's no question that we want to help people (and ourselves) and being able to express ourselves and think about things that have happened to us and things we've done can support our sense of well being. It's like a piece of chocolate cake in my brain that I choose to enjoy 24/7. We can fight the good fight and try to make things better, but personally, I will never let any psychotic, selfish, narcissistic, sadistic, and inhuman leader or person take that from me. I have little to no anger and that loss of bitterness corresponded to a significant mood elevation. That is one reason why I criticize angry people and understand that they are so unhappy. However only you know for sure! Some people find some kind of happiness through faith as well. I’m not wired that way, but this must be similar in some way. I supppse some kind of brain scan experiment could reveal what this is doing. I think it also helps alleviate separation and loneliness. Friends do that and many of the poets here seem like friends. I DO experience that feeling every time I think I've written a decent poem. Usually, it's not found to be that good but something that was thrown together in a few lines gets kudos. Better than any drug a shrink might prescribe. We take words (orphans) and put them into sentences or stanzas (families). Sorry this is too obtuse! My fault. lol!! I was thinking perhaps other people have experienced this high. It’s really very surprising. At this happy time in my life, it’s obvious to me but I might be unique in reaching nirvana it may seem strange to many.
