Best In Darkness Poems
Shaken birds shrill cry across darkened sky,
Awaken to the biting cold wind howls.
Taken by flash of lighting pulsing heart,
Forsaken stretch of night as thunder scowls.
Lost in the darkness, of pounding chill rain,
Tossed round from the flicker of leaves and trees.
Accost the meager unvarying light.
Frost thins to a slight glimmer quick to seize.

I dreamed you tonight;
standing on the sheltered
deck where I live,
peering at myriad stars,
reminiscing.
A delicate voice carried
on warm summer air.
Whispers and soft laughter,
enticing to my ear.
Jeweled eyes glistened, sparkling
like the evening's shimmering stars,
measuring me.
Soft breaths swept leaves
into motion,
wafting the air,
touching me.
Glowing ember memories in
silence and darkness.
Your hands, elegant hands,
reaching, touching, reassuring.
Sun burnished skin.
Exquisite grace of curve, line,
and hollow. A lavish body.
I breathed your memory with each
infusion of fragrant night air.
I revel in these tempting
remembrances of you.

How long will this dreary night go on
Seems years since the dawn of morn
Why does anxiety keep me awake
What is this burden I cannot shake
Heartbeats too fast within my breast
Too quickly to grant needed rest
There's no moon above to cast light
This crepuscule gives birth to fright
I smell the wax of candles burning
but something keeps me from turning
If this be a dream, I pray, let me wake
for I've a thirst and hunger to slake
My eyes are open, and yet I cannot see
the willow outside; my weeping tree
"Fear not," I warn myself in voice aloud
the moon must be cloaked by a cloud
I call out for Davinia, in angst and fear
but my dear wife is not sleeping near
I long to glimpse morning rays of sun
Harried for never-ending night to be done
Only sleep could bring a measure of peace
and from shadowed night to have release
but I seen to be shackled to the beast
who fights the dawn's rising in the East
Of going insane, I fast approach the brim
tortured by thoughts, dark, dank and grim
Whispers I hear, mawkish murmurs dim,
"What will become of Davinia without him"
Who speaks of me in grammar, past tense
Someone who's lost all sentience and sense
Fragrant air 'round me grows warm and dense
Could that redolent odor be flowered scents
A memory haunts my sleep deprived brain
It's of a brutal nature, and cold falling rain
An act of violence, like the angry sin of Cain
A man's life taken; from a dagger he was slain
Motionless in rest, but not on my feathered bed
This unnerving moment is one I most dread
In a sepulcher, on a satin pillow, rests my head
In eternal darkness am I to dwell, among the dead

No sounds are made, her world is hushed
She dances in darkness to music not heard
Imagines things that to us would be absurd
Lives in tranquility, where nothing is rushed
Through Braille she lives with fingers as guide
She weaves through valleys, mountains high
She'll never have to witness a loved one die
No evil to see or hear, no lies she will hide
No sorrow do I feel for her lack of the gifts
we take for granted, ones we abuse; misuse
She's better off not seeing life's colorful hues
or the black and white of men who cause rifts
She builds her castles without moats of fear
Soars in the clouds upon gold and silver wings
In mumbled but beautiful voice, she sings
She makes me aware that angels are here

Draw nigh to the Light my children
Tenebrosity fills the night
Seek the words of love within
Heaven's lambent words shine bright

Psalm 18:28
28 You, LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.
Psalm 119:105
105 Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
Matthew 5:16
16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
1 John 1:5-9
5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. 8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Even in darkness,
when a moonless sky
preaches fear from a pulpit of shadows
pointing elongated fingers…
when walls crumble
into a rubble strewn alleyway
and graffiti issues spray paint threats
on frantic facades dripping sabotage…
and kindness remains
hidden away in sealed envelopes,
unaddressed and undelivered,
discarded in bundles of false accusations
Her beauty shines unending
in effervescent streams,
illuminating in a photograph, poetry
and a kind word from quivering lips
caressing my heart
in watercolor enchantments
and pastel pleasures…
showing me it is not what, but who
for this darkness is hers,
weighted thoughts on soft shoulders
binding wrists in tethered worries
and still she smiles . . . for me

The rain is gone, the sun shines bright,
and the birds sing on the glistened tree.
Pray God forever shows in darkness the light,
for life’s journey on the divine path to ecstasy.

| I Dream Poetry in Darkness and Light |
Unbroken, my light rises like deep alluvion of sweet rivulets,
Craving passions and tragedies like written poetries of Juliet.
In softly spoken words I quell, of streamed sheen of sunbeams and spells.
Where worlds of fallen reality and fantasy live in parallel.
Playing with dreams and it's ruinous luminosity,
Through my skin, I feel its pale softness glow.
For, my ferocious heart beats for disaster and catastrophe.
Between the beginning of dawn and it's closing dusk evenings.
Reaching with ardor towards it's warmth,
The bitter transparent wind on my lips, I kiss.
Nevertheless, the dark reminds to hide all my mess.
But, this febricity itch with within my hidden fears,
Recoils and quivers like a mournful Mimosa.
Hiding under midnight treacherous treasuries but, I falter closer.
Let me lay in darkness; between these verses.
Let all hatred consume me with unbearable curses.
Let me die within these spiralling pages and vortex verses.
But, the scintillant light lends it's chi,
reminding my lungs; inhale deep; exhale free,
Like a pretentious vapour; I keep climbing.
My senses swell; atmospheric rising with spring tides fluorescent rhymings.
I move through like osmotic whispers; jolting with winged feathers of sweetened writings.
Because, I dream poetry in darkness and light.
And mourn with unspoken words; simultaneously, day and night.

Lest sink in
Darkness!
Grind my smiles
Which, remained
Hidden in your letters and
Trapping in poems
Make it a soup
Flavoring in clamminess dawn,
Roses shame, and
April breeze, that restless
In spikes
Lest sink in,
Darkness!
Present it to you
Moons, light up your night's lip
And become lighted

The trees wave their boughs like a scarecrow's arms,
dancing to a tune the wind plays.
Unsettling to see in the darkening sky,
their silhouette at the end of the day.
The wind is whispering in ominous tones
as an uneasiness descends over me.
So spooky to watch the trees bounce and sway,
like a phantom ... though its only a tree.
Imagination runs wild while the wind outside
plays games with my fertile mind.
Though I see moving arms, if a light I should shine,
I know a tree is all I would find.

One night returning home from the marketplace
Street lights suddenly went out.
I could see the road curving in the headlight of my car.
After driving for some time ,I reached a place
By the side of a streamlet.
Yet there is no streamlet in my locality
Nor on the way from that market place to my home.
Confused I turned back but reached at another place.
This time by the side of a rill ,water hyacinth floated,
Some houses standing quietly in the darkness
On its other bank.
Again ,I failed to know where I was;
It seemed nature disguised herself in another garb.
Then, to my relief, in that lonely atmosphere
I saw some local youths loitering.
I asked them for directions to my locality.
One of them gave me directions of the routes
I should take
I resumed driving my car to the direction he indicated .
After driving some distance on the right turning roadway
I saw some women standing on the roadside
A pressure lamp placed before them.
Oh, a beautiful girl I saw among them !
She seemed like a maiden in an oasis
To a tired wayfarer who lost his ways in the desert.
I politely asked them for direction to my locality
Not sure, although told by those youths which direction to go.
One of them told me to go further till a crossroad
There to turn left and drive to find my locality.
I again drove my car.
Then the street lamps illuminated the dark street and I knew
The place where I was .
Oh, that was the place I frequented, and it
Not far from my locality.
I reached home, finally out of a big puzzle.
But I felt that night I had roamed to unknown places
Exotic in the darkness of the night .
It was an exciting experience .

We thought we have two lives,
Al least one real, today none is real.
Apocalypses in the Bible, it was a human episode.
But now a different disaster.
In my mind, only digits I can see,
No birds, no roses, no trees, no fathers, no mothers.
Towns that are not towns.
Urgently, I need to skype Mayans and
Neruda: Is so happens, I am sick to be a man.
The center is an absence, of a point, of infinity.
We need presence.

With the pen of the demon ...
Only the devil and dragons
can breathe out smoke
of mouth and nose
Separate yourself from the dark
... and show your face

Verse
Creaking floorboards, kettle sighing
while the world’s asleep and dying
In the darkness that is dawning
grows a weed under the awning
Phosphorescent weed of night
makes the shadows of what might -
have been with more of that or this
More courage or less foolishness
A perfumed spell wafts from its flowers
brings blindness to what’s good of ours
It lines the paths so darkly tempting
to places lost through paths unending
And each new route down which I skitter
l find more weeds my path to litter
Fresh regrets more overgrown
And all from seeds that I have sown

They grope in darkness with no light; he makes them stagger like drunkards.

Matthew 4:16 NIV
For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.
2 Corinthians 4:6 NIV
We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
2 Peter 1:19 NIV
to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’
Acts 26:18 NIV
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light
Ephesians 5:8 NIV
You, Lord, are my lamp; the Lord turns my darkness into light.
2 Samuel 22:29 NIV
“Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”
Acts 2:36 NIV
May the light of Christ
Awaken the candle within
That is flickering in hope
Sometimes the wind has
Been felt as if its gonna burn
But then comes darkness back to distinguish
My friend I pray this wind of Christ
Brings a constant source of everlasting
Strength of wind and true oil from the good tree.
That the light within sets ablaze
To dwell within your lighthouse
To reveal the darkness
One once walked in
And the darkness all around one.
