She Is Remarkable

Salute to the woman who knows who she is
And why she is who she is
A powerful being
Once thrown into a deep end of the ocean
But swam her way back to shore
She never stops moving forward
Nothing can ever pull her backwards
Such a brave warrior

Shout out to the Superwoman
Determined to change the status quo
Because she feels the need to do so
Just like an eagle
She soars higher and higher
As the wind blows stronger
She does not let anything deter her
From reaching another level in life

Thumbs up to an amazing woman
A great force to be reckoned with
That committed Mother on the street
Who trades from sunrise to sunset
Trying to make ends meet
Oh, she has a heart so big!
Being mindful that come snow or sunshine
She has mouths to feed

I revere this gifted woman
Who uses her creativity
To make an impact in society
Despite the uniqueness of her talent
She remains a trendsetter
It could be the potter in whose hands clay becomes magic
The miner who touches gold, before it even gets sold to the markets
Or the strategist who sits in high-level meetings, making sure organizations do not collapse

A special mention to the special woman
Who chooses not to give up
She understands that others look up to her
The smart lady out there, with a clear vision
She makes things happen for her family, community and the world at large
She deserves a badge of honour
Because she is remarkable!

A Vessel Unto Honour

I was once a beautiful vessel
Brimming with wine at the king's table
Uniquely made
A vessel of inestimable value
Admired by the guest who eat from the king's table

One day the king found another vessel
I was no where to be found around the king's table
The king's guest forgot i ever existed
I was thrown out
The ash heap adopted me
The rodents found in me a place to dwell

But time gave me a second chance
The potter found me
He washed me clean
I've found a new place to stay
I dwell amongst the potter's vessels
The potter knows my colour
shape and purpose

I'm far from perfection
Though perfectly imperfect
He has displayed me for all to see
The ash heap which thought i was ruined
I'm elevated
High on the potter's shelf
And once again
I,m a beautiful vessel unto honour

Silent Honour

It's Poppies, poppies o'er the land,
stuck fast to collars; prickled hands.
Blood red, emblazoned, filled with pride,
A poppies heart shall never hide!

Poppies, poppies; our best, our brave,
The fallen ones we could not save.
Instead, they marched ahead to cheers,
We love them always, shedding tears.

Poppies, poppies, share our feelings,
Standing tall, we pray for healing.
Fathers, Mothers, sons and daughters,
We stand for all; silent honour.

Premium Member Thank You Ma'Am - In Memoriam Queen Elizabeth Ii

In memoriam: Queen Elizabeth II died on 8 September 2022. May she Rest in Peace.

Gracious and a constant all my life,
not bending to public opinion o’ strife,
your sharp wit could cut like a Bowie knife.
With statesmen you did meet—had an excellent seat.
Paddington Bear, so sweet—your compassion, not beat.
You’re honoured as a national treasure,
never resorting to artful pressure:
Deus ex machine per Measure for Measure.
You danced with those freed—gifted a French Guard stead.
You have lived by a creed—example to us indeed.
Remembered as beloved mother and wife,
seventy years on the throne: quite a feat.
There’s no more need of any embrasure.
For your esteemed family, hearts now bleed.

Poetic form: Suzette sonnet.
The title of the poem refers to Paddington Bear saying ' Thank you Ma'am ... for everything...' when he 'took tea' with HRH in celebration of the Planinum Jubelee in June 2022.

© SUZETTE SONNET—SUZNET for short (9 April 2021)
A 14-line sonnet of alternating triplets and couplets, concluding with a quatrain.
Rhyme scheme: aaa (b1–b2)(b3–b4) ccc (d1–d2)(d3–d4) abcd
The triplets are iambic pentameter [*/|*/|*/|*/|*/].
The rhyming couplets are iambic hexameter and include an internal rhyme, namely [*/|*/|*/—*/|*/|*/] (alexandrines).
Concluding with a quatrain in iambic pentameter that summarises the poem in a rhyme scheme set by the triplets and couplets.
The volta is at L9. OR the couplets may define pivots within the poem, ie a tilting or shifting in the mainline of thought. When the latter is employed, it needs to be uniform throughout the poem.
Form: Sonnet

I'M Sorry, Your Honour

Grey was his wig and angry was his mood
On that fateful day I served him his food.

The sudden silence in his court was deafening and
Oh, it remained so till the very end.

He wasn't prepared to listen to me
Even when all things proved my innocence.
Lawyer Hammond, thanks for making him now see.
Later, I'll apologize for saying the first letters vertically!

The Way of Bright Honour

o seeker read these words and weep
for thy soul so still asleep
as yet unawakened to
this world of love divine and deep

o seeker hear these words and sigh
thy soul and god are ever nigh
divided by the doors of mu
unopened 'til the day we die

unless by dint of effort one
may bring the doors of mu undone
enjoying thus enlightenment
ye lama, sufi, saint or nun

what is the point of seeking this
when life is won by kill or kiss
and pleasure reaps its own reward
why bother with eternal bliss?

yet the mystic path endures
the sacred flame divine allures
the love of truth and wisdom high
even though all love injures

o seeker fill thy heart with joy
all pain dissolves if thou employ
the wisdom of which masters speak
to each and every girl and boy

o seeker fill thy mind with wonder
if ye hear the sound of thunder
understand the lightning strikes
to split the living tree asunder

for if the living tree survive
rent to the heart exposed alive
what might it say to bears about
the bee, the honey and the hive?

so can thy soul be struck by love
from below or from above
when the bolt is from the hand
invisible without the glove

ember in the hearth of home
star of truth high in the dome
hand of divine destiny
pearly shell become the comb

mother earth and father sky
long ago created i
living songline living still
o seeker dost thou wonder why?

o seeker pray and meditate
live and love and contemplate
render naught to worthy not
raise thy children true and straight

o seeker sing a soft refrain
perceptive be and still remain
turn the blade of vagary
with harmony for love to reign

is life through which we fleeting pass
a grain of sand inside the glass
or the eye that sees it fall
compassionate despite the farce?

how great the beauty so sublime
of poesy replete with rhyme
harmonic of the simple truth
transcending bonds of mortal time

i heard thee calling from afar
ahura mazda avatar
keeper of the sacred flame
sent through the doors of time ajar

thy silent voice so sentient
spake words of wisdom and lament
once heard in kingdoms of the rose
still written in the roses scent

simple message yearning for
one open heart from evermore
light on water musical
perfumed garden, divine law

Would Be An Honour To Pull Up a Chair

Good evening Miss Becca, I do declare
Would be an honour to pull up a chair
Can we start with beetle hairs on toasted nettle shoots
With your salad of rainchokes and fiddlehead roots

Oh my so delic-ibus I might just have more
Your taste in tucker is first class, I swear

You sure you want me to sit right here
Drinking sarspirella mixed with root beer
Your liking for lardines caused some surprise
Tossed with the tears from a whaleybone's eyes

My whiskers are twitching with pleasure ….you see
sharing your food, is a delight for me

Dessert is just too much, I might give it a miss
Sweet rasponion’s light as a feathers kiss
Sitting here with you is such a delight
Shall we discuss the bug situation all night

So glad you asked me to pull up a chair
Am mewwing so loud it’s almost a purr

So big a tip of dol-yapper seeds
All I did was supply your needs
Thank you for asking me to sit there
Purrfect tabbiness becos you care

A Remarkable Woman

She is so exquisite
Even without make-up on her face
She is exceptional
Even if she lets others seem important
She is selfless
Even when the selfish surround her
She offers a lot of love
Even so, she needs it often
She has a big heart
Even though she appears small
She lets others belong
But she longs to be appreciated

She adds value
Despite her own worth being undermined
She is attentive
Nonetheless, no one pays attention to her needs
She is patient
No matter how long it takes she waits
She is giving
While no one could be willing to give
She is forgiving
Much as the worst was done against her
She is trusting
Albeit her trust was broken countless times

She is wise
In spite of being treated otherwise by some
She works hard
Notwithstanding that she requires rest
She is helpful
Yet, there is none to lend her a hand
She makes life seem easy
While going through difficult times herself
She stands by others
Although there is no one to stand by her
She chooses to be peaceful
Against being somehow provoked

She is calm
Undeterred by what is not
She is bold
In defiance of tough battles ahead
She shows bravery
Still in the presence of adversity
She is fearless
Though she may seem helpless
She is spirited
Contrary to attempts to bring her down
She is never destroyed
Irrespective of storms she faces sometimes

She keeps moving forward
Granting the hindrances along the way
She stands in the gap
And make things happen
She does not look down on others
Regardless of some doing so to her
She recognizes those who shielded her on rainy days
Whenever the sun shines upon her
She keeps on running her race
Because she knows for her, grace is abundant
She puts a smile on, always
Since prayer keeps her in the right place

She is an inspiration
A pioneer of transformation
Cheerleader for economic revolution
How the world adores such
A remarkable woman!

My Word, My Honour

My Word, My Honor

Vows & promises are meant to be kept,
Yet one's word to be honored is nowadays somewhat inept,
Its old fashioned, seen as an item of 'back in the day',
Needing witnesses to prove what signed words really meant to say,
It doesn't mean much to detract one’s word, - no loss of upheld dignity,
Aah! this 'dignity' another of today's almost obsolete quality,
Yet we see ourselves as the world's most evolved "advanced"!
Watch oppressive powers & peoples pierce fellow hearts with poisoned lance,

What in God's name has become of ethics, morals, values, the past upheld so highly?
What's become of simple justice in a society?
We're so intoxicated by worldly materialism, fashion, mortal idols as deities...
We've lost the essence of sobriety!
Lost is the foundation of piety!
Attitudes & characteristics now unappetizing within most personalities!

The world is spinning faster for sure,
Coz the display of blank feelings show more & more...
How deeply sad a loss this deteriorating state,
A spiralling doom to a sorry fate,
Swept up are those not thinking, not reflecting, not questioning,
Lost are those not searching, not realizing...

A search for a spiritual compass is man's only rescue,
There is surely one the Divine has preserved in lieu...
Yes, spiritual choices are many,
But choosing the right one is quite easy!
Just prostrate & call out to the Divine's omnipresence!
Sincerely ask for His guidance in reaching His essence!
The journey to your destination you will see...
Will return to you perspective, revealing each key,
Each key will open doors to understanding our purpose & reveal personal responsibility
Delivering inner peace, comfort & tranquility,
A constitutional map to live life & experience its beauty,
A gift that cannot be bought with any wealth or money,
A gift delivered only by spirituality…

Single Mom Double Honour

SINGLE MOM DOUBLE HONOUR

Tears won't dilute your strength
Your mood won't make it less of who you are.
You're not broken but a token that is indispensable
A fraction that's left and yet inevitable.
That's who you are
You speak the voice of two
Just to take care of one
You put up acts of two
Just to raise a mighty one
You show love of two different persons
Just to prove to the world better lessons
You double your passion and shower it on one
Just to make your child a complete mansion

The world sees you as incomplete
Yet you fill more than a gap of two
You train your hands and won't allow those strains to constrain you
You don't give up even when it seems the world is up against you
You turn your words into bricks and build a world for your child
When others build with bricks
You build with gains of the risks
You shunned your supposed shame
You raise a world that will bring you fame
All just from your crumbs of gains

You're a superwoman.
If no one ever said that to you
They are either blind to it or rather jealous to admit it
That's who I see in you
That's who I believe you to be.
You may not be completely right
But you can't be more an angel than you are already.
I adore your strength
I respect your hustle
I envy your myth
And I pray for your might
You don't need get everything right
Not everyone can stand in the arena where you fight

I pray that you win this fight
And never quit praying every night
You may be the wing of flight
Every other victims will like to fly
Make them look unto you
Never you breakdown
Crush a brick and the building may go all down
Hold firm and win this battle
You won't just be called a winner
You will be a legend with double honour.

(Tribute to all the single mothers out there)
