The Festival of Lights, Chanukah has arrived
a hopeful time of praise each year revived.
The Menorah lit, each home becomes a church.
Blessed are You, L-rd our G-d, King of the universe.
Our sister Miriam lights the shamash taper first
a maiden fair and scholarly her prayers rehearsed
to bring together all that's beautiful, diverse.
Blessed are You, L-rd our G-d, King of the universe.
Eight nights we praise the L-rd for gifting us with Light
and pass around small things which bring delight.
We rejoice. In brotherhood we are immersed.
Blessed are You, L-rd our G-d, King of the universe.
May G-d in his greatness light all your days
May family, friends, and foes mend their ways
for all have needs, let kindness tame their thirsts
Blessed are You, L-rd our G-d, King of the universe.

* Blessed are You, L-rd our G-d, King of the universe, who has sanctified us by His commandments, and has commanded us to kindle the lights of Chanukah.

Dumplings
As I walk into the kitchen, for a snack,
my mother, her apron, night black hair, and jade bracelet,
makes me dumplings.
She combines the mixture of monotonous ingredients
into something extraordinary.
The water, like a youthful spring, rejuvenated the frozen, faltering fruits of nature,
Mixing the Yangtzee, Hei Long Jiang, and Chang Jiang into a savory paste of veal and kiwi green scallions and chives.
The distinct sound of chopping drowned my thoughts, easing my stress, and bringing a unique rhythm into my mind.
The dough, seeping under her fingers, was firm yet malleable
as if she was molding
the future.
The clicking of the gas stove, rumbling of the pot, flattening of the dumpling skins, the clinking of bowls and chopsticks, the scrubbing noises in the sink.
A rousing prelude to an intoxicating fugue…

Joy Breeds Hope
As my eyes look up to bright sunny skies
And I view soft shape shifting clouds float by
I feel hope instilled through my joyful eyes.
I take a deep breath, let out a long sigh.
Look at the trees how they've weathered the storms
They remain steadfast with beauty so fair
With outreaching limbs share shade in their forms;
Gifts for all creatures who breathe their fresh air.
We have been blest with this beautiful Earth.
Let kindness prevail in me and in you.
Souls need teaching from the on-set of birth
To respect others in all that they do.
Harmony dwells with new hope in God's love
As we connect Earth with heaven above.

(Written with the help and great inspiration and original creativity of a good partner,
colleague and friend ---- Alexandra Onofrei. Keep writing, kid! You’re blindingly good!)
Wings sewn from blood-red curtains,
Sultry needles from all that sweat,
Closed eyes and fragranced cypress,
Sweep, with dreams, along the sidewalks.
Singlet’s creases,
I always knew they would match
(Pen’s beatitude)
My lips,
That now button up
Your lashes.
Hei! Are you still awake?

Are you ready for a brand new year
The spring festival coming
So let’s all cheer
The lunar calendar starts again
It’s time to clean the cobwebs my friend
Gifts of red envelope’s everywhere
This is the Chinese New Year
The year of the sheep
The ram, the goat
Bring your fire crackers to make the most
Don’t forget those tangerines
They symbolize good luck and prosperity
You could bring some lovely oranges too
For friends and relations
Waiting for you
Now the fruit is their beloved gift
But wearing red, is that just a myth
Whatever you do
Do not wear black
It resembles death and we don’t like that
Pineapple lanterns in every colour
They look so sweet
Hanging in the summer
This also stands for prosperity
The mandarins are so very keen
The mother of pearl
Will bring you good fortune
You’re live in abundance
With the well of the fish
And eat every good portion with that dish
Now don’t forget your spring cleaning
But beware of that broom
After all it’s cheating
Bring in the new and out with the old
So this New Year could bring you gold
Last but not least, let your child lay
So you can fulfil your ripe old age
The longer they sleep
The more time for you
Add on the years restoring your youth

What do you do,
in this life of ours?
What do you do,
when all hope is gone?
Do you vent your spleen on all mumbo jumbos?
Do you sit and cry in the cause of time?
What in thesis do u do,when life seems bleek?
when life seems blur?
You might sing a song of love,
or write a script of poems,
BUT hei........
IS A QUESTION.............
what do u you do,
If all isnt well?

To all of my friends on Poetry Soup,
you really are a dynamic poet troupe.
Though I’m not here every single day,
rest assured I’ll not stay away.
You’ve made me laugh and sometimes cry,
when your engaging works I do espy.
I sit here now with tea in cup,
occasionally I’ll take a sup.
Prodigious poems that I have faved,
command the entire center stage.
I revisit them whenever I’m down,
for them everyone deserves gold crowns.
Within this crisis there’s time to reflect
and take opportunity to reconnect.
So Guten Tag, Ola, Konnichiwa Shikamoo,
G’day, Namaste, Shalom, Asalaam, to you.
Ciao, Yassas, Bonjour, Hola, Goddag,
Nin hao, Ahlan, Privet, Goedendag,
Witaj, Halo, Helo, Selam, Hei, too;
stay well, I do appreciate you.

Chinese New Year 2022 *
Oh no! again they've cancelled the Lion Dance
And the Dragons are also put on hold
How I longed to see them gyrate and prance
But the covid virus is still uncontrolled.
The sound of the drums, the cymbals and gongs
So intense and loud we jump with glee
Brilliant red lanterns and cheering throngs -
Their absence will be felt deploringly.
But we can visit the street booths in Chinatown
And wish our neighbors Kung Hei Fat Choy
We'll muster good cheer despite being let down
And firecrackers and Fa Gao we'll still enjoy.
Thus, we will celebrate Chinese New Year
Hopeful that the Tiger's strength will prevail
With his courage and prowess he'll banish our fear
And each hurdle we meet, we'll triumphantly scale.

A daughter is your whole world
Can go without
Job and ambition
Loitering and shopping
Grand feast
And gathering
Before marry
You're too absorbed
To remember your friends
After marry
You're too busy
To remember them too
Hei Hei
Just
A kind of carelessness
Just
A kind of selfless love

I
"Father" comes naturally
As eyes catch up with body
At this first dawn, we are reborn
Each day we awake. 'Might have gone
Where billions have, when they don't!
II
"LORD" with all the awe of an ancient Hebrew
I utter as my soul does bow
Thank you; YOU deserve all my gratitude
No longer I arise with a past attitude
Today comes with a fresh gift of hours
To do as we please - or upon what's gone before -
LORD, God of Abraham, Isaac, Israel, I praise Thee
If judgment in Covid19, I intercede for mercy
Not just for my country and me, but globally
WE deserve judgment, and we ask for mercy
Jesus showed us THY face of grace
Jesus, Yeshua, who died for us and Earth
To RESTORE, He is Redeemer, why He took birth
God reconciling fallen creation, to Himself
You are from everlasting to everlasting, "I AM"
Our elder siblings said it best, YHWH: Yod Hei Vav Hei
The tetragrammaton, so holy they didn't add vowels
And left it unsaid, so we also say "Lord, as in El Shaddai"
ALMIGHTY, the one who is our Mother, under whose wings
I abide. The secret place, Dear Abba-Father: Messiah-Christ!
(c) Shalom, shalom and amen. SHALL OM (ShalAUM)
