Best Happy Moments Poems
-Toddler Sky-
Down where I sleep,
You hold me, embrace my every way
The Marks up on my skin
You caress, taking away from the ugliness
Watching the simple breath, when I breathe
Breaking the ice, soothing my inner peace
A sweet spray across the paleness in my limbs
Holding the warmth, I've been loved throughout my life.
From picking up sticks to the walking stick
My loving dear I know you will always be there
A few wheel chairs, when broken bones mend
You know my every cure*
Walk with me across the hall
Through the oldness, and the boldness of every color in the sky
Thank you for taking me as I am
A light twinkle' every time I feel the colors of the rainbow drip
Now a newborn takes his form
In you I find the strength to stretch my arms and reach for every star
When happy moments fail,
I embraced the colors I found in you
I make out every tree, and wonder why and how?
I close my eyes to imagine the fun of chasing fireflies
Tonight I'm keeping my prayers simple, cute, and innocent
I will count sheep and search for sweet lullaby dreams
Smiling like a 3 year old this very moment,
You think I'm having "Baby Blues."
My loving dear, thanks for having patience,
Painting my way down a toddlers sky
Every time "P M S" hits

I meander through verdant valley
where meadows collide in windswept jade,
hillsides bathe in summer sunshine
and oceans of clouds, commit to shade.
Moorland sheep laze in woolly clusters
creating footpaths upon the hill,
busy hedgerow a rural city
scar of an era, is town head mill.
Vibrant coppice alive with creatures
leafy towers caress morning mist,
sunlight shines on distant window
across the valley, a sapphire twist.
Crag and beacon rise majestic
standing stone a monument to thrall,
sculptured by marauding seasons
an ancient culture’s, rocky stall.
Yet to chance upon misty patterns
softly sketched upon the hill,
I will savour these happy moments
awakening to, a distant trill.

When the birds stop singing
and the sitar stops playing,
When joy of life begins to betray
and morning fog won't go away,
When days of sunshine dissipate
and nights choose to stay awake,
When heart sounds alarm bells
and life feels like a living hell,
When love regrets happy moments
and desires languish in atonement,
When we lose our happy face
and fill it up with awful rage,
When every deed's like a final act
as if we never had a solid pact,
Ask not why we waited so long
let's belong, our love's so strong,
Let go the burdens of the past
vow to usher a brand new start,
Grief will depart, let's do our part
I beg you, let me into your heart.

First Place: Let me into your heart contest by Julie Rodeheaver
HM: Strand select G contest by Brian Strand
A fleeting moment in time,
Is all I need for this rhyme,
Perhaps 10 minutes, no more
Sit in your armchair, close your eyes,
And to your utmost surprise,
Your life flashes past like an express train,
Happy moments with unimaginable joy,
Horribly sad ones, like the day
I lost my baby boy.
Where does each year go, life is greedy,
And definitely always needy,
Progress demands youth takes over the reins,
What will become of us,
Next week you or I are forty,
And in a decade we will be fifty,
Birthday cards sent to us,
Inappropriately witty,
You’re on the downhill now sis or bro,
You have to settle for second best,
Along with all of the rest.
You work you slog, but at sixty five
You are retired, what to do with each day,
Such a drag, but we all love poetry,
So we will never be solitary.
Soon we will be 3 score year and ten,
Our lifetime over, says The Book of Psalms
Psalm 90 verse 10, this is an older translation.
Today’s verse 10, has been adapted
Into many a version.
We wonder, how did we become so vulnerable,
We reach eighty,
And then ninety,
We could have dementia, our minds quite muddled
The way forward, every day a sad venture,
Or we could be arthritic or have Parkinson’s,
Chronic pneumonia, had an accident and
Broke our back,
At this age the cards stack,
Against us.
One day we can’t breath, rushed to hospital,
The family, children and grandchildren abound
No regrets, life has been profound,
We heave an accepting sigh,
As a tear rolls down from our eye,
Have we any regrets, is this that
Moment in time, you, means all of us,
And we and us, means as it does,
So you, us and we,
Means also my and me.
My husband, also sick, whispers, let go
My love, I’ll see you soon.
He lies next to me,
I feel cold, the clock strikes three,
It is mid afternoon,
Finally, my spirit leaves my spent body,
Hovering above my bed,
I wish I could tell them hey, stop crying,
Life is a journey,
And so is dying.
Becoming a teenager,
Parents place wager
That by sweet sixteen,
You will have been
Kissed and experienced
Puppy love
While stars twinkle above!
Turning twenty one,
The greatest feeling
Under the sun,
Graduating from University,
Told you are very pretty,
The spark of falling in
Love instantly,
Hearing wedding bells distantly,
Then, Getting married,
Being picked up and carried,
Over threshold of new home,
Labour pains, a big groan,
Birth of a beautiful baby,
Husband murmurs, my
Brave lady!
Child’s first day at school,
Front tooth missing,
So cute and cool,
Children grow up, graduate,
They date,
Get married, cycle in action
Get married, third generation
The joy of a grandchild
The day he or she recognised you,
And smiled,
Happy moments captured
As they all happened,
And locked in parts,
And segments of everyone’s hearts!
For my days fall away
But I remember you
I want to touch the memories
I just don’t know what to say
As my days fall away
I vaguely remember the chicken pox
Colored popcorn
And my first grade made
Robotic cereal box
The hen and the fox
I remember wanting a fire truck one Christmas
The marble red paint
The glass window in which it stained
I remember my foster mom saying it’s this one or nothing
I remember being too stubborn to accept the smaller version
Its these memories I daunt
It’s these reflections that constantly haunt
These were the highlights of my life
These were the only happy moments I knew
Yet I left them, moments so few
I remember where the wild things are
I remember marshmallow peanuts
Trick or treating and roasted pumpkin seeds
I remember visitation days
The beach-less sand the way we as children once played
I remember the door that never closed
Mexican casserole and never getting enough
Being afraid to swim
Yet finding my way to the roof of the house
With no way of getting down
I remember my first field trip
The dinosaurs and wanting to be an astronaut
I remember my San Francisco 49ers jersey
Number eighty, jerry rice my favorite player
Now days I tend to only clash with the mayor
It seems that images follow a window of time
And after it’s exhausted
We summon them our memories
The Meaning Of Humankind
Forever people look for a complicated word
Years, decades and centuries they search
One sad word that gives meaning to humankind
Poets have written pages looking for the word
Singers sing their songs trying to find just the right word
Writers tell stories about the search for the word
Not one poem, song or story can find the perfect word
The perfect combination of letters and sounds
No one can find the one word that describes humankind
The perfect word is there right before them
It has been for all the history of the spoken language
In Greek, Latin, English or Aramaic or Chinese it has one meaning
Five letters, three syllables work together to giving meaning to humankind
The word the poets, singers and writers have been searching for
That word is simply alive
A sad word because it always has a final moment, a moment of loss
Yet, a happy word because while we are alive
We live, we love, we learn and we experience life and who we are
Sad or happy “alive” is the meaning of humankind
Thank the gods for the happy moments yet do not fear the sad ones
For that it life
That is the meaning of being alive
Cold is here, snow it's a dream. We dream about snow and Christmas, joy and presents.
It's time to consider. It's time to make a balance. Go out to the streets and you will see
lights everywhere.
Some people are happy, other struggle, but it's Christmas everywhere.
Time of reflection, time of commitments. Time for the snowflakes to fall down.
Christmas should be white, Christmas should be the season to be with the ones we love. It's Christmas time here and there. But everywhere is not Christmas.
It's time for remembering about all the ones that won't be sat on the table. Those ones that will have snowed wings but no Christmas at all.
Many children will have sugar in their mouth, other will have sour throat instead. White Christmas are here and there, White Christmas are a happy or sad time. White for ones and black for others.
We still wait for the snowflakes to fall down on everybody, but Christmas are magical, and maybe change the milkyway, your point of view or your complete life.
Christmas have that moment, when you think everything can be different and friendly. A miracle of love can be done.
Happy moments for the children with their toys, thoughtful moments for the old people waiting for Christmas as the last ones.
A gifted Christmas every year, a happy Christmas to celebrate. Another year is gone, another year to be happy because we made it and we have hopes for the new one to come.
Breathing the cold air, feeling the happiness flying above us to wish everybody Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Memories Lost
Those days are gone,
And your life has gone wrong,
Feelings are now mixed up,
You don't know when to break it up.
Those memories are starting to fade,
Those memories are lost,
And I can't find it anyway.
Who cares to have those sad moments,
I'm just happy to have these happy moments,
Though they are also fading away.
It's okay not to remember anything,
For those memories just give me pain,
The pain of losing someone I love,
And the pain my heart is feeling.
I hope someday it will heal,
In exchange of the memories lost.
The sorrow must wait
when you face serious life crises
They are going to have good conversations
take care every minute
Share happy memories and sorrows
Life's last hours
they both know it
time is running out
Love without limits
to the end of the world
Words are not necessary
their eyes tell
His last letter:
I want to carry you
up the golden stairs
But you must enter the gate alone
Wait for me ... because I find it difficult
to believe that all the good and
happy moments do not exist anymore
Love can not be owned
and can not be bought either
But you will always own my heart
Every time I breathe,
I love you more
You've made me complete
my light from a fifth direction of heaven
It was you who taught me to love unconditionally
Love is never wrong
Until we meet again, my darling
I love you with all my heart

FOR LINDA MARIE
HARVEST OF HAPPINESS CONTEST
Is this pain real or are we the ones who created it??
Did we create all the bad feelings or were they already created?
Are we the ones who opened the cage for it?
When did we surrender to pain, hate, cruelty and darkness?
Happy life has vanished from this world... We weep every time we feel sad....
Why can't we weep when we are happy?
Even though there are no happy moments
There's a story in our tears
There's a story in our fears
There's a story in our pictures
There's a story in our lives
Those story's will always be in our hearts
None of them will show on our faces...
Friends make memories
Love ones draw smiles on hearts
The beautiful days created are hard to wipe
Great and happy moments stay longer than birthmarks
But what happens when you lose a love one?
When you are betrayed by the one in heart
Just when you shared laughs and smiles and love
And Just when you bid her goodbye
Just when you bid her goodnight
What if she took it serious?
What if that was the last time?
What if when she said she was going to bed
She really meant to put her soul to sleep
To close her eyes from our dark world and
Open in the other side of town?
What if all along
She was crying to you?
Silently wailing in your ears
What if every call was for you to answer
To ask her how she was doing?
What if your duty was just to call and check up
And to provide care like she's your patient and you her nurse?
What if your hands were shorter and she had to embrace her soul in the cold arms of death?
What if all it takes to prevent anyone from committing suicide
Is just a smile, an ear to listen and a voice to comfort?
But am I my brother's keeper?
Are you?
So is that why we un-look and lash their insecurities with cane (cain)?
Then why do we seem to care when we hear their blood calling for redemption
Like we are some form of salvation and need an exemption from the feeling of guilt?
There are a lot of people in depression
Repressing their happiness and their will to live
why don't we lend them a listening ear
to hear their cry for help
Why don't we give them a reason to live
A change of mind
why don't we call them back, to align
And why don't we call them mine
Why won't you call them yours
I just want you to know that
Mental instability is a deadly weapon killing a lot of innocent souls
Let’s look out for each other
Lets see one another as our own
Our brother, sister, mother, father, our loved one
Together let’s win the war against suicide
Before it kills us.
I was looking out at the great beyond
I saw you staring back at me
you were amazing to look at
with silvery hair and your piercing black eyes
and somehow they shone piercingly
and your aura, so mesmerizing a face,
amazing to see.
I remember when so many years ago
a faith in you so strong
it was so reassuring to know that you were always there.
I hope and pray that one day…
I feel your presence, as I did before
if I forgot you or maybe I didn't look?
I now do realize what I had missed…
its crazy I know, it hurts I know but life drew me away....
my reflection, makes me look and ponder.
As I looked unto the heavens
I see mom, dad and my baby sister
happy moments of joy and laughter
blissfully unencumbered by guilt or tears,
and I saw all your beautiful creations.
Everyone I loved has gone now
It's been soooo long for me.
Forgive my follies, dear Lord
I just want You to be my guide
Feel your presence by my side
when I turned my back on You
I was scorched by searing pain
floundered,
which way to go ...
I will be fine to go on with my life with You
so dear always by my side,
with a longing heart for YOU
I pray, please don’t forsake me
I know You are the one who loved first!
Deliverance is what I seek of my present agony
so of my agonizing past please do set me free…
