Best Grandpas Poems
Grandpas Chair..
This is the place where I go to get away.
No kids to yell at, silence I hear, I can think strait.
Sometimes my grandsons comes and then wakes me up.
Grandma worry’s about me falling asleep in the heat.
So I have to hide my liquor bottles and such.
Everybody needs a place to rest.
That old dusty chair has been my best.
Sometimes I just need a place to hide.
My grandkids understand old grandpas chair.
His place of silence, his chair of pride.

Heroic Couplet
i wait for grandpa, with his steps slow as a turtles, i listen bye and bye, but the voices
hollow, we walk and talk, and i hear his voice shake, we laugh and flock, as we pass the
old tank...
he tells me stories about the past, like how he met grandma, and fell in love with her,
when he shouldn't have, and whispers the beginnings, to each new ones, and loudly
tightens, to the action....
i walk in strides and wait for him, as he coughs and takes his napkin, then we carry on
like nothing happened, but all of us know his life is in stake, but he's just to good to
let us worry, he says, i grow old, switching from a young girl to a woman, i grow wiry and
have children of my own, and through all this time grandpa smiles to me, it radiates off
him in reassuring waves, to communicate between us that he's ok... but i now have
grandchildren and he is very old, older than a tree that grows, or the sand on the ground,
or the sky's blue, or the air that passes, or the moon that glows for each new night, or
the sun that brightens to each delight, so old he becomes untill he is shriveled, and
feels nothing but his neck up, so old that time has just stopped, then in those quick
seconds he dies in his sleep, so quick the call rings to me, so quickly i pick up the
phone in a haste, so quickly i run to his burying place, so quickly he's covered with
ground, so quickly i let the tears roll down, and in the quick moments you think of your
slow ones, so slowly it makes you giggle and laugh, at all those good times, and so slowly
it reminds you that he'll be with you till u die, so slowly you think and stop to sigh, so
slowly the days tumble bye, then so slowly your taking his hand, and so slowly you've gone
to heaven, so slowly you say when you meet god, he whispers then nods, and you both look
down towards the earth and relive the moment that most people thinks the worst, but you've
just got to believe that out there somewhere, there's an angel waiting for you there...

You are only a figment
of my immagination
But later in life
When I meet your mother
You'll become my flesh and blood
A girl a boy
It does'nt really matter
My love will be the same
As you grow into adulthood
Thinking of a family of your own
Agirl a boy
It does'nt really matter
My love will be the same
As soon as I grow up
I'll meet your grandma
And my wish
Will finally come true

My grandpa shocked a copper
Flashed him with a toothless smile
Dropped his trousers, bared his bottom
Like he’d planned it all the while
Nicked him good and proper
You'll be locked up for the night
You can't go baring all your bits
And giving folk a fright
Questioned later in a cell
Tell me why you flashed your butt
And why on earth you did it
Smirking like a mangy mutt
He blamed it all on grannie
Said that it was her idea
She had a strange solution
To the problem on his rear
The copper asked what she had said
To make make his manic dash
Grinning like a Cheshire cat
And giving folk a flash
Well he'd told her of the boil
That was hurting on his bum
He couldn't even take a seat
Which made him feel so glum
So how is she the reason
The duty copper said
You were smiling, you were flashing
And not at home in bed
She's always said a problem halves
If you will only share it
But this time all she said was that...
I’d have to grin and bare it

i remember a long time ago when i first met the love of my life
she was wearing a beautiful dress
i knew she would be my wife
her hair long flowing locks
my first reaction my jaw dropped
i introduced myself as i walked across to her
hello miss my name is johnny
she smiled and i smiled back
there i go up an old dirt road on a catallac
i took your grandma out to the movies
we had popcorn and drink
does not seem so long ago as i sit back and think
she was such a kind woman
i was such a lucky man one year later down the isle holding her hand
i miss here so much now a days
she is smiling down on me from up above
that is where she is my true love

What a gorgeous ring! It is your engagement ring, right?
grandma gave me a smile. Tears made her brown eyes quite bright.
Remember the words grandpa said? I asked her, that October night.
She shook her head no; which to me was a sad sight.
Alzheimer’s had taken away much of grandma’s sweet light.

Where is grandpa’s red devil box?
Each grandchild asked this as we entered the home.
It was a box grandpa had teased us with since we were young.
We all wanted it. There was only one of course.
He used to chase me around with it, Barry told us.
I wet my pants once when he told me what it could do, I said.
Story after story came out.
We laughed until we were crying.
It was the one thing we all had in common with grandpa.
Some of the stories were immensely silly.
Some made us howl.
We never ran out of them.
Grandpa’s devil box stories got us through the day.
And through his funeral without tearing our hair out.

Narrative
This is what they used to do,
Grandpa's made their own rules,
Sit on verandah on sunny morn,
Read the sport, paper at dawn,
Then to read the obituaries,
Ensure still alive, you see,
Finally, they passed to glory,
Grandpas so loved, their story!

A bible stand stood verily high -
these words won’t die.
Central pages of art.
Grandma’s Jesus would give me a heart.

Wish you were here,
Though your time has come;
The days seem so shorter,
Since you've been gone.
You have not failed us,
As you have gave it your all.
Family will now guide you,
No need to fear the call.
You have chose selfless actions
Among family gone before
The clouds have started moving
The skies are all so clear.
So take your place in Glory
As your fight is through
You will be reminisced furthermore
For this moment and forever more!

Grandpa’s magic bubbles make the world spin a bit faster.
We see the longevity, for it makes peons turn into a master.
They learn new ways to set the world on fire as they spin.
We are now in a refreshing state, where experts are in.
Grandpa was a prophet, a sage, a sharp wizard too.
He can upright the mountain with a kick of his shoe.
He is a contender for the title role of the ruler of choice.
Unless he runs into Mother Nature, whose name is Joyce.

I s'pose Grandmas think Grandpas are underfoot most of the time,
And consider them moody, grumpy and way past their prime.
But God had a purpose for them in His great scheme of Creation.
He tasked Grandpas specifically to spoil the coming generation!
When Moms say, "No!", Grandpas must occasionally resort to guile,
To treat the kids to a banana split every once in awhile!
He entertains them for hours pulling nickels from his ears,
And wrestles them to the floor, tickling them to tears!
At the toy store, a few bucks to them he'll surreptitiously slip,
To get a truck for brother and for sister a jumping rope to skip!
He always takes his time and patiently helps the little tykes,
Teaching them the Golden Rule and how to ride their bikes!
When they come to him and say their Mom and Dad are mean,
He assures them that they are loved and their folks are really keen!
They sit on his lap as he reads to them and tells of family lore,
Respect for God, love of country and so very much more!
Grandpas mentor and prepare them to be of service to others,
To respect their teachers, siblings and their Dads and Mothers.
Tho' Grandmas may wonder at times about a Grandpa's worth,
God placed Grandpas here to spoil the grandkids of the earth!
(I know cause I are one!!!!!!)

grandpa’s boot went missing on a Tuesday night
It’s weird he told every relative in sight
I know I left it right here by the door
Some rolled their eyes, others looked on the floor
I knew the faeries had taken it, but did not tell him.
My elf friend named pal had it clutched next to his chin.
I watched them scurry it out at midnight, tis true.
But I kept a confidence for my friends Bunny and Boo.
Bunny and Boo are the elves who live in faerie fey.
They needed a house, I mean, one, right away.
Their baby was coming, and they needed this boot.
I pretended to aid grandpa and said “well, now, shoot!”
