Premium Member Christmas in Paradise

One year,  over the ocean, Santa veered  off course
His reindeer were battling a hurricane  force.
As the sleigh went  spinning and spiraling around,
an  island appeared far below on the ground,
dotted with palms on  a white sandy beach.
Santa took heart that land was in reach.
Through starlight’s glow and the light of the moon
Santa touched down — not a moment too soon.

A lavish Luau  on Lahaula mats was laid,
a sumptuous feast over which a Kahuna prayed
with fish on ti leaves, tropical fruits, and eggs-fu-yung
colorful flower leis were draped after being strung
Pearly shells glimmered on every waving palm
Ukuleles were strumming to songs sweet and calm
while dancers swayed ami with soft hula hands.
Santa had landed in a paradise found.

His beard was snow white, his boots shiny black
and he wore a red suit with a red  elfin hat.
“I’m Father Christmas,” and - I’m surprised too
that we celebrate  in much the same way as you
with peace and goodwill, and with eating and singing.

‘Mele Kalikimaka,’ is our song of greeting
As we celebrate Christmas— in island style.

On they kept strumming, and singing and drumming.
while Santa felt tempted to stay and join in.
But time was short as Christmas morning grew near.
He had sworn a duty to all he held dear.

He saw a bright star rising up in the East
The time had come - he must leave from this feast
So he readied his reindeer to take to  the stars
This was the latest —  he’d  ever been — by far
to bring toys to children all over the world
curled up in bed in their little dreamworlds.

“Come Dasher, Come  Dancer, Come Prancer and Vixen.
Come Comet, Come Cupid, Come Donner and Blitzen.”

We’ll find our way here some other midnight
“Mele Kalikimaka  to ALL -  and to ALL a Good Night.”

My skin petrified, mummifying my hand
upon pools of brittle ice
like curdled blood piercing veins: I watch
the moon bathing its flesh,

in crystal yellow, waxing a sheen...
my pores dilate as cubes slowly melt
when this fired orb heals from above

till its velvet breath climbs into my head,
extinguishing limbo of a daze…until I convulse in joy
when chunk-stone changes into glimmered dew.

*I held ice cubes on my palms and was transported
back to scene of one night when a high fever drowned
my senses… for some reason, viewing the glory
of the moon relieved me from delirium…

Premium Member A Nightingale Sings of Dawn's Glory

Cobwebs of thoughts dangle in forlorn corner
Spun by emotions that surrendered long ago
Still hanging out, anguished, in grip of throes
Engrossed in silence while gazing night skies
Admiring how they once painted astral designs
Brush stroking delight by sheer hint of eyes
Until the silken threads of lives ripped apart,
Each filament eagerly tearing webs of hearts.

Regrets of passion buzzed roiling wistful lives
When placid frontiers encountered stormy tides
Sailing smooth surfs that callously turned wild
On oceans unfamiliar to the benevolent minds
Beckoned by allure of prairies shamrock green
Thinking out there grew a garden of paradise~~
Abundance of blossoms their lives couldn’t have,
Squandering foolishly bond of love they had.

Yet, the darkened nights they traversed all alone
Heard repertoire of enchanting mirthful tone
Wooing love, having crossed thousands of miles,
Reminding them~ you don’t just abandon life,
Trilling tunes of affection in imploring oratory
Teaching humans secrets of romantic allegory
When the dawning on horizon gleams lapis lazuli
And a doting nightingale sings of dawn’s glory.

Promise of hopeful day glimmered their insights
Spurring their spirits to revisit places of delight,
Those they painted once by sheer hint of eyes,
Reassembling the filaments torn apart by time
Proceeding soon mindfully to rebuild their nest
Excited once again to hear chirps of hatchlings
When the dawning on horizon gleams lapis lazuli
And a doting nightingale sings of dawn’s glory.

God's Strong Hands

God allowed him to see through their eyes,
feel their cries,
understand their plight,
with his body, but with their sight,
the alley way shimmered,
the night stars glimmered,
and the man found himself standing in a dark alley,
the stench of decaying rats,
discovered by hungry cats,
raw sewage, old smoke,
could lead anyone to choke,
as the less savory smells
hit him like a blow,
gagging, as he sensed hell,
displaying its best in show,
he steadied himself against a dirty red brick wall,
hearing the hungry call,
as he tried to keep himself from the fall,
his eyes grew accustomed to the dimness,
he glided up the alley as a shadow,
meaningless, but there,
ignored, but here,
if his shadow haven’t been silhouetted on the wall against the light,
he would have been another soul lost in the night.
People passed the alley without so much of a glance,
life gave him no chance,
as he was just another vague outline in society,
just like the abandoned crates and garbage bins all around,
he was just like garbage tossed on the ground,
his silhouette gave no clue on who he was,
just a flickering light,
from time to time just plain out of sight,
God’s strong hands seized his shoulders to steady him,
made him look at the people he once ignored,
made him understand,
that once in a while, people may need a loving hand.

Premium Member Withered Memories

Summer’s warmth breezed upon the verdant hills
Quivering golden twilight’s zesty marigold appeal
Scintillating rustling leaves in resplendent prairies
While eventide’s glaring aura emulated your zeal
When leisurely you strolled on tranquil sandy beach
As sun’s amber beams glimmered your footprints.

Delighted by your visit, thrilled in your company,
Reveling your mystique I unfolded your dreams,
Enchanted I revered the pulse of your heartbeats
When every hug blushed the face of your fantasy
As slowly you revealed to me what true love means
Sprinkling hints boldly in flirtatious fervid kisses.

Virgin aspirations soon titillated beats of romance
Inducing seduction in every touch, every glance,
Embracing moonlit desires, gazing twinkling stars
Cuddling dreamy nights through melodies of dawns
As lyrics of sensual reveries wrote our love story
Extolling virtuous yearnings in blazing hearts’ music.

I remember you left amidst autumn’s ruby winds
As ocher themes dazzled, whirling russet leaves;
We treasured those longings, cherishing love sublime,
But the allure of its sensuous vows faded over time
When we grew apart trading ambivalent feelings
And promises, once idyllic, altered their meaning…

Yet, passions still ignite, doting withered memories.

Premium Member Borealis

In a glimmered lace of sunrise’s veil,
dawn hovers like a freshly-cleansed nymph,
wafting and bubbling with a spice of mint
in dew’s chastity pool delicately undressed.
The path of upturned boughs rips free
and slides along  a froth of peppered mist;
misty in a way newborn day becomes
pastel fingers where wings of her breath
become illumined as it is daring;calling
forth, Borealis...Borealis.

And a deluge of herb wraps her air: a seasoning
moment for this flushed lady to unfold
the carpet of studded foliage cradling
around her heady arms... soon, a gush
of light bears newly-wed rays,
until the fragrance of earth drifts upon
her mantle feeling the delicacy of radiant morn,

weightlessly white; no one wants to speak.

I met a Hippie walking down the street.
She had long hair, big eyes.
Wide-bottomed trousers, orange-red,
Covered in an intricate pattern
Of strange designs, flapped round her feet
And from her shoulders over a flowered blouse
Hung a black satin something
With bright green frills on the edges.
From her neck dangled to her breast an emblem
In a circle – a unity of Love and Peace.
I passed by her and she glanced up.
I smiled...she smiled...and we moved on.
A smile can work wonders.

The couch and chairs were empty
And we sat comfortably on the carpet.
The candle threw an eerie light
Which came to nought in the depths
Of the room’s shadowy corners.
An odour of incense drifted around us
And a distorted candle flame
Was reflected in my cup of coffee.

We spoke of art, painting and poetry
Treading on the romantic,
Passing through hazes of religion:
A mixture of love, knowledge and mystery,
Probing into the eluding outlets of LSD,
The restful release of meditation,
The yearning of youth, disillusions of life,
The roots of joy and depression,
The understanding of oneself.

Smoke rose in bluish transparency.
The ring on her finger was big and it glimmered;
She opened a poetry book at random
And began reading from Tagore.
I was silent. Her voice was soft.
And when she stopped we said not a word.
There was no need – we both understood.

Verses of the Poet

Sweet are the verses in rhymes that are sung
that genius the mind in history does crown
Blank white pages with divinity and splendor
Stoned face, haunting or dark and yet tender.

With celestial visions charmed as they be
Will but lighten our hearts with a spirit free
With the streaming pulse of unwavering joy
With crystal enlightenment, this is our ploy -

That our names would lie in history's book
That eternal we'll be remembered, but look
There's a poet clasped on the mighty wind
Where the perfumed blossoms softly bend

In sweet sighs like deep breaths, to blend
With rippling streams in murmurs and then
There his solitude has sought no fame
Among the throngs of mightiest names

Like Byron, Elizabeth, Keats and Emily
Like Shakespeare, Poe, Blake and Shelly
But in the warm breath of silence he lays
Where no man may gather and praise

Gifted his glimmered thoughts proceeding
With humility's grace and love exuding
From blessed a heart as pure as the springs
Clasped upon God's wondrous wings.

Oh never lose sight of our earthly treasure
That beyond every carnal soothing pleasure
Is that gleaming gift imparted to us all
That in poetry's grace we may stand tall

In fun or in fame or in dream's pursuit
In practice or in shame or in joys mute
That our pleasured words, we may mute not
Thro' life's sorrowing moments and yet but

Thro' the coursing days of history's lines
How sweet the verses when sung in rhymes.

What does poetry mean to you personally? I'm open to heartfelt expressions to the question.

Cross My Heart, Hope To Die

Cross my heart,
Hope to die.
I won’t tell a soul,
That you were mine tonight.
Tucked alone,
In the dark.
With a pillow and a smock.
Painting a picture,
Of the moon and sky,
Upon the canvas.
As the meteors flew by.
This picture was beautiful.
Covered in detail,
Glimmered like the sea,
And in the background were you and me,
Laying together,
Watching it all,
As it happened,
When it happened,
Those many years ago.
I cross my heart,
Hope to die.
I won’t tell a soul,
That we made love that night.

The Lies That Exist In Her Peripheral Vision.

She held onto Saturday, with hands calloused and nails bitten

down

to the quick...her eyes saw sunlight and denied it's presence while she rocked, back and
forth, back and forth, to the ticking of a dishonest...

clock.

He told her, in words that cut the air as they fell from a razor sharp tongue, that she
still played the part of the victim, her little girl costumes uncomfortably small, and she
refused to hang herself up, for she had memorized the part and her voice knew

nothing
else.

Her lips parted, still stained with kisses and dripping with the acidic burn of
yesterday's stale tears, and she whispered the truth about choices as she unknowingly lied
to herself

again.

He handed her the script with a brush to her cheek, and she shook her head as life tumbled
viciously around her face, her peripheral vision capturing sight of years long past, and
she informed him that she couldn't read it, she told him she was

scared.

He took her hand and taught her how to smile with the slight tickle of fingers that danced
across a lifeline that posessed trails she was ignoring, he showed her how to not walk
backwards and
the appearance of Sunday if she didn't

trip.

She discovered the moment she was stuck and moved herself beyond the sunset, misty skies
so old that colors had faded and maybe yesterday wasn't as pretty as she thought, maybe

Sunday

didn't lie, and she came to an understanding as she straightened and tossed her sight to
the windows that glimmered with afternoon light...

that glistened with the reflection of twenty years past the weekend and the eyes of a
woman that had seen the formation of a smile

on
Monday.

The air sighed heavily
as Winter rested its head
on soft somber clouds
lightened earlier by a sifting
of rain, snow and ice.

It smiled softly at the moon
which, once more, made
a welcomed appearance
in the mantle of night’s sky
sprinkled lightly with stars.

It shivered considerably
near the trees in the cities
wearing their crystal jackets,
that glimmered slightly
with moonbeams smile.

It whispered quietly close
to sleeping houses bedecked
were pristine white hats,
fringed along their sides
with crystalline tassels.

It applauded the sun
as it soundlessly arose
presenting to the world
a postcard bejeweled
with Winter’s muse.

Immortality

Immortality

Thinking of all those nights
When we sang songs and shared dreams
Believing each of our life’s tunnels glimmered lights
Caresses me with uni-verse’s dazzling beams.

I have not lost it all since you were gone
I feel you in the communion of the galaxies
I know it’s not all foregone
Somewhere, somewhere you live in my soul’s palaces.

I’ll not mourn your departure no longer.
For in my recesses I know the truth of your living.
Extinction has swallowed itself in hunger.
Whole truth must I hold; I am believing.

Be at peace; do not hurt.
Smile some warmth on my winter days.
Unfetter the resounding pounding of your heart.
Echo your palate’s rhythm with cosmic rays.

With you there are no more ‘hellos’ and ‘goodbyes’.
Never would anyone say ‘I hate to see you go’
Nor ‘but I love to watch you leave’ lies.
You have embodied love immortal.

Know this that even in the darkest of moments,
We believe it will shine.
You and I through life’s torrents
Shall keep singing.

Luna's Pale Light

Light shimmered on the lake at moonrise,
with a breathtaking view that glimmered.
Beneath the glow of Luna's pale luminance,
the night was calm on the banks of the firth
except for the cooing of a lonesome dove,
who thirsted like me, yearning to be loved.

Premium Member Like Only Yesterday

It seems like only yesterday
When memories flash through the mind
So near they seem, yet years away
As distant stars are so inclined

They live on in a photograph
 It seems like only yesterday
We'd shoot the breeze and share a laugh
And party till the break of day

 Memories orbit near they say
And time has left behind its scars
 It seems like only yesterday
 Destiny glimmered in the stars

 We reminisce as years depart
As if to keep the time at bay
We keep memories close at heart
 It seems like only yesterday

"Listen to the wind it talks.
Listen to the silence it speaks.
Listen to the heart it knows."

               Quote - Ancient Indian Saying

it was a picturesque windy day
that I was walking in the mellow autumn
the birds were singing a sonata
she was lingering
her departure gradual
I stopped to watch leaves falling from a tree
crisp golden and red fluttering down akin to teardrops
they glimmered like stardust
touched with magic
my heart was holding so much pain
I was wishing for some stardust
to fall on me perhaps the magic would heal
my shattered heart
imagine the distant stars that appear as dust
falling all the way to earth
that night I dreamt of my poor kitty
I prayed she made it past the stardust
into the arms of God
such a long journey for a little cat
as I lay in my bed I watched the leaves swaying
and drifting away
twirling, swirling, whirling touched by gentle rain
that made all the different hues sparkle
and as I slept stardust fell on me
and I heard a distant familiar meow
in a trance I went outside
and it was snowing delicate snowflakes
fragile as stardust gentle
and I swirled in the autumn snow
I twirled and whirled in the stardust
and she appeared to me
her soft fur touched by the stardust
her little wings pretty
I picked her up and held her close to my heart
and she purred me a sweet song
when, I woke I knew she had reached
                         her destination
beyond the stardust of autumn leaves
