Best Firm Poems
I am very pleased to present a fourth collaboration, this time in rhyme
with my dear friend Lawrence Sharp, a truly exceptional poet.
.
Thank you, Lawrence, for your great inspiration
and ongoing fellowship.
Ancient Hero, Firm And Honorable Til Death
Twas not roses painted bright red upon his shield
he that with great courage refused to ever yield;
with beating heart and full faith in his saving God
slayed monstrous beasts, going where only heroes trod
with no complaint of hardest sacrifices made,
he gave back no ground and bright red-blood wet his blade.
Family crest of roses and red bird of prey.
Its motto, 'True to our beloved God we stay'.
Decades flown by, great battles fought under red sun
bravery gave strength to finish what was begun;
strongest spirit with true soul to match and hold true
to the solemn vows and painful costs surely due
his right arm, servant of Light, Truth and Divine God,
with love of family and his faith, his firm rod.
Family crest of roses and red bird of prey.
Its motto, 'True to our beloved God we stay.'
War's end, dusk of last decade under cloud's cover
would be pride and pain greatest to lifelong lover;
fiercest and most wicked was the very last foe,
The Serpent King blithely cast gods and angels low;
most prized the triumph or most abject the defeat,
in driving rain the greatest challenge he would meet.
Family crest of roses and red bird of prey.
Its motto, 'True to our beloved God we stay'.
Unclean was the battle and untold was its cost,
lives of men and monsters were sacrificed, not lost;
The Ancient Hero stood and faced The Serpent King,
final bloody battle he knew would bring death's sting;
perished with his bane, war's demons and gods destroyed,
mightiest foe with him he took into the void.
Family crest of roses and red bird of prey.
Its motto, 'True to our beloved God we stay'.

I am very pleased to present a fourth collaboration
with great poet and friend, Robert Lindley.
Only Robert's mighty pen and personal encouragement
could possibly have inspired me to venture
beyond my more familiar Free Verse.
Thank you, Robert, for your great inspiration
and ongoing fellowship.

Get that firm grip
Get a firm grippe
or off the planet you'lle slippe
Then you’ll find you have
Lots of space
Like a giddy Giraffe
Don’t sit there an laugh
The airs getting thin
In this place
So:
Where do we come from where do we go?
The spirit does fly with our alter ego
The death rattle kick
An you’re out like a chick
Eggshell just falling away
In freedom you flick
To go anywhere quick
As random as any thoughts say
Ah well Dr Ram
sometimes it flows from "I am "
the fat controlller
a pulling the strings
return yet again
perhaps in Siam
soul body
to learn many things
Don Johnson...is it a couplet?
In this world of toil and strife
standing for Jesus no easy task
but He never said to would be
His strength’s sufficient when we ask
God has promised to be with us
in all of life both bad and good
He is our mighty strong tower
learn this well with right attitude
Believe with conviction His true word
stamp your life upon it as your blueprint
never move an inch from God’s truth
more precious than even the royal mint
No matter what consequences come your way
put your feet firmly on the divine holy writ
the Lord will honour you in your trial
making sure He’ll make you a spirit filled fit
In that hour God will be your peace
holding you still knowing His power
He’ll be your friend in time of trial
giving you grace whatever the hour
J-ust stand firm and strong,
U-nderneath the sky above;
D-on't let life's test derail
Y-our, faith, hope, and love.
S-tand firm and strong,
A-llow not your ship to fail;
M-ake your boat keep afloat,
A-s you continue to sail.
R-ise up every time you fall,
I-nstead of going wrong;
T-hursday December seventh,
A-im to stand firm and strong.
The winds can blow,the earth can shake
and floods can wash away
All things not rooted in God's love,
they have no power to stay.
Build your house upon the Rock
It is the safest place.
It is a firm foundation
poured out by God's grace.
Poured by love and set by grace
in Christ and His commands.
A house that's built on Jesus Christ
all things it can withstand.
Let your roots grow strong and deep,
put total trust in Christ.
You'll find your heart is filled with peace,
and love, and joy, and Light,
Firm Land-
I don't know what they took
I don't care
what they left
And
what they stand for
but all
i care
i hold in my heart
in my faith
As a firm land
of my hope
Oh my home
A young girlie with a nice pair of boobies
Also owned a lovely firm bootie
Sure didn't mind sharing
Us guys we were staring
Spilled our coffee while gawking at this cutie

You were not perfect
But you were good.
You were decent
And I have only recently
Understood
The true meaning
Of that word
And what it can cost.
You were a man whose moral compass
Never seemed to falter,
Whose honesty would not alter
No matter what, in consequence, you lost.
You stood there quietly firm
Committed, through ups and downs,
To providing a safe home
For your wife and your three sons;
A solid rock upon which
We have been able to build with ease.
In these steps I have tried to follow
Often stumbling; sometimes falling,
Falling short of the mark you set
But you always forgave my folly
Forgiving my hurtful failing
And this, above all, I’ll not forget.

Give Thanks and Stand Firm
Should your high hopes be so cruelly lost
smashed so savagely by that very fickle fate
Do not give up your precious life to be tossed
upon heaps and dark mounds of festering hate
When your heart feels the thrust of such shame
steel your resolve to a defiant, heroic stand
Defend life and the honor of your family name
with every step taken upon this earthy land
If your spirit falls low think of a mountain tall
send your soul to rest upon it's highest peak
Ignore the slurs and taunts of those so very small
consider the evil for which they so proudly speak
In great triumph soon you will so richly turn
as that wicked vermin flee back to their master
Consider now the reward in which they will burn
thanking God's grace you avoided such a disaster
Should your high hopes so faithfully be restored
give eternally blessed thanks to our sweet Lord!

It is now ever so important to give thanks...
The
Lord
is near-
wait on Him,
see the salvation
He will accomplish within you

It was a glorious, hot day soothed by the August's breeze; the town's copper bells
harmoniously chimed in their old, sturdy bell towers
as the band tuned to their festive sound with trumpets, trombones and marching drums.
The large square resounded with thousands of voices,
a procession of faithful flowed to the Church of Saint Stephen.
I ran upstairs with heavy breath to tell my sister to follow
them, but there on the flloor she layed with upward eyes, kind of lifeless;
and so hepeless not to find anyone, I stepped outside and saw
the saint's pious face and invoked Him for a miracle...suddenly I went back,
and instantly her face regained color and she began talking. I was convinced
that such a miracle happened because of my firm faith,
and that vision reinforces my belief that saints are the intercessors of God.
Happy birthday, dear President,
The firm Filipino leader
Lets his order be consistent
Despite the world's stormy weather.

A mother holds her first born son
Life and love become one
Two hands holding firm
When apart he shakes and squirms
The cure of a mothers voice
Erases any other noise
Warmth and warmth together
Combining their hearts forever
A mother and her first born son
Three years later 2+1
Two young boys in her arms
Some would say her two little lucky charms
Three hands holding firm
When apart only one shakes and squirms
Together they grow as a family
It started before they were standing
A mother in between two big boys
Grabbing the belt is a mothers only other choice
But boys don't cry they take their licks
Except when mother decides to grab a big ole switch
Hooping and hollering
The two boys rant and cry
But at the end of the day
She tells them everythings all right
For a mother with two young sons
A mothers work never seems to be done
Cooking, Cleaning and dressing
To a mother these things are a blessing
A blessing full of curses indeed
If your a mother you know what I mean
Motherhood at it's very best
Raising two boys is a mothers ultimate test
