Out at sea, facing a dark heartfelt storm.
Heading for a lighthouse, taking him home.
Looking at a lit place, over the Hill.
Music and laughter, the night was not still.
In a mood for company, He went in.
Walked to the bar an ordered a Tonic and Gin.
Slow music playing as He sat alone.
Finished his drink and was headed for home.
A lovely lady walked over to him.
Introduced herself, and smiled with a grin.
A once in a lifetime moment in time.
His love had arrived, could this be a sign?
Feelings he felt his heart couldn't keep pace.
He looked in her eyes, and heavenly face.
"Oh what desires you created in me."
"I was a lonely seaman out at sea."
You were the lighthouse that I searched for.
Holding you close and forever adore.

You'll find it in the crimson eyes
of a throwaway photo somehow frozen in time.
When the past painted us like demons
with secret fury.
And you'll find it in the smell of a burning memory
like melting microfilm becoming enraged
(gifted with the freedom to deny
first appearances)
You'll find it in the cedar smoke
of Tyndale's earthen cage
roasting in a bale of hay for crimes unknown.
Where the fire of his message burned mighty
through a thousand hungry hearts that day
(where ancient ink once again
took a detour into youthful veins)
You'll find it in the velvet ash
of a (just one more) cigarette
being flippantly flicked into December sky
for reasons unknown.
Where yellowed fingernails bear witness
of freedom to live and freedom to die,
leaving not an inch of space to analyze;
for the fickle flames - much like life -
waits for no one.
You'll find it in the platinum tendrils
of a Colt 45, that so quickly took a life,
in the burning heat of an eternal second.
Where curled fingers and steady stare
makes it painfully aware
freedom is a pitiful beauty, ugly as sin,
and as right as rain
(ask the victims of Hiroshima --- they'll tell the same)
You'll find it in the vermilion sky
blazing brighter than passion pure;
stopping the world gears, of rat-race routine,
and turning a thousand rusty necks Heavenward
Where minds silently unhinge (for a moment)
And fear itself begins to cringe (for a moment)
When faced with childlike wonder
blind eyes will see.
A rejuvenating spark
this freedom can be.
And you'll find it the explosion of ecstasy
like a rose blooming in tenacious time-lapse.
You'll find it in the Cherokee midnight dance,
being warmed by the tongues of freedom personified.
Where Common Sense no longer applies,
for when freedom found his heart's desire,
you know it was a compromise.
Losing his mind, and losing his life,
in the process of a martyrdom
for all things beautiful and all things temporary,
in its earthly essence
... where freedom finds the fire,
you can't tell the difference.

Percy penguin tried to dance
Sadly he had two left feet
Waltz and Tango – he took his chance
But he couldn’t quite get the beat
Then one day he did espy
An advert with his beady eye
Dance Classes Starting TODAY
He began to smile it made his day
So off to the dance hall he did go
He found a lady penguin - her name was Flo
She had lost her dancing partner – he died at sea
Now she was as happy as can be
Percy took hold of her wing and tried to dance
Could this be the start of a beautiful romance?
Alas, Percy kept treading on her tiny toes
She needed them all to walk on the ice floes
They tried again; attempting a waltz and you could see
Percy was busily counting one two three one two three
Their dancing days continue, and to this day they carry on
You see them dance on the ice beneath the setting sun

Rusty Finds A Home!
Rust-hued kitty’s shunned by day, ignored through the night
Unloved and discarded in a world numb to his plight
As he meows by a door
Rusty meets family Tor
Who give him a home, protection and love glowing bright
—Robert Gorelick
Who could resist a kitty like Rusty
Who is lonely, scared and very dusty
Needing a safe home
Of his very own
And someone to adore him who’s trusty
—Beryl Edmunds

Limerick
With every new day, love finds a way
Molding it from the beginning like a colorful bouquet
Both of us willing to do the work that builds a pathway
To that special place where love lives on display
Giving it to God when we bow our heads to pray
Taking on presence in our lives like foreplay
Building a foundation made of gold
One that will support us as we grab a hold
Of what warms us inside and keeps us from the cold
Always willing to take the time
To live true love that we design
Making sure we have seen the right signs
Building trust in each other that helps us unwind
What goes on living in our minds
Realizing love is far from a perfect rhyme
It takes dedication and commitment to keep it in time
With every new day, love finds its way
Like a beautiful sunset across the bay
Having no regrets from our yesterdays
It's far from a picnic in full play
Creating forever love that is here to stay
Dancing through life like a perfect ballet

My soul finds rest in God alone,
my rock and my salvation, He -
though arrows of the devil fly,
my fortress God shall ever be.
How long will sorrows plague my days?
Curses and lies assaulting me -
my soul finds rest in God alone,
my rock and my salvation, He.
O mighty rock! In you we trust,
and in your refuge we are blessed.
We pour out hearts of praise to you -
in you alone we find our rest.
We lowborn ones are but a breath,
unknowing of our length of days.
God is our loving source of strength,
most worthy of our highest praise.
Come end of troubled earthly days,
His follower's reward shall be
to find eternal rest in God;
our rock and our salvation, He.

As a feather finds the breeze,
My mind also wanders
I think of many things
How life is so fragile
How easy it is to lose focus
And to be carried off
By the current of existence
I ask for guidance in the wind
And as the feather
Falls gently to rest,
That I too, will
Find my way to safe harbor

A POETESS FINDS HER SOUL
She dreamt he was with her.
Massaging her shoulders.
Whispering in her ear to pen
poems far bolder!
"Stop writing to please the crowd"
Alas, poetess, afraid she'd be
wearing a shroud.
Wanting always the friendly
slap on the back.
Forgetting other poets, their
boots she need not black.
Writing a poem she loved~
Should forever be her tack.
A good poem on it's own doth
stand.
Replies neither make a poem,
Nor a woman nor a man grand.
But it's the poetess,whom in
herself must believe.
Making sure above all, it is
her God to please!!

I WASN’T LOOKING! I’D GIVEN UP SEARCHING. I HAD STOPPED WAITING. NO LONGER WISHING. NOT EVEN CARING! ONLY LIVING. PASSING TIME. ACCEPTING LIFE AS IT WAS. MOVING ON… LETTING GO!
THEN IT WAS THERE. CAME FROM OUT OF NOWHERE! I DIDN’T SEE IT COMING. WASN’T EXPECTING IT. DIDN’T EVEN WANT IT. CERTAINLY DIDN’T “NEED” IT!!! BUT… THERE IT WAS!
IT FOUND ME. SNUCK IN LIKE A THEIF IN THE NIGHT. IT CAPTURED ME… CONTROLLED ME.
I TRIED TO FIGHT IT. DENY IT. PUSH IT AWAY. JUST COULDN’T DO IT… IT WAS TOO STRONG… TOO POWERFUL. IT SOMEHOW GOT THROUGH!
I ACCEPTED IT. I RETURNED IT. I ENJOYED IT. WANTED IT! NEEDED IT!!! IT HAD ME HEART AND SOUL!!!
…THEN IT LEFT! IT ENDED! WALKED AWAY…LEFT MY ALONE, WEAK AND SHATTERED.
IT TOOK MY HAPPINESS, MY SOUL, MY LIFE… GONE JUST AS SUDDENLY AS IT HAD APPEARED. LOVE… IT DESTROYED MY HOPES, MY DREAMS, MY EVERYTHING!!!!!
LOVE… IT FOUND ME, OH YES, IT FOUND ME. IT FOOLED ME, IT TRAPPED ME, IT CONTROLLED ME, THEN…LOVE… LOVE!!! ABANDONED ME!!!!!
…WHEN LOVE FINDS YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To find
And understand
To grasp cherished moments
And search the eyes
The eyes
Soft falling tears
A love quietly found
To always hold
To hold
Within this realm
And dream of tomorrows
To share with love

People whom live in the past
they loose so much more
of what precious life
has laid down in offering
For some this time
slips away departing grief
lost in their own hellish weakness
brought on by internal suffering
I walked that shady path
everything became cold as stone
lost complete faith in love and understanding hope
thank God I found his direction to see the light

Life changes like the seasons
Laughter bubbles, tears flow.
There's a quiet look as the mind reasons
to let the sorrow go.
Colors change as hearts do,
Flavors seem so rich.
As a new beginning follows through,
The paths to truth have switched.
Thunder rumbled as lightning struck,
Water flooded the ground.
A different storm, life crumbled.
I watched as it tumbled down.
But now to rebuild with new parts,
Tears provide the mortar.
One fourth respect, One half love
With laughter as the other quarter.
I'll cry tears for all the pain,
But it lessens everyday,
And life has taught to put trust in fate,
And love will find a way.

WHERE FREEDOM FINDS THE FIRE-Screwed XIII Contest
Sponsor: Rob Carmack
The liberation that resides within burning flames,
creates a disaster of unknown soldiers with no names.
Emancipation of nightmares turning into reality,
such trauma on the front line without any familiarity.
The combatants fight for justice without reservation,
committed to the allegiance with brothers, self preservation.
Fearless warriors breaking through walls of steel,
the discipline remains faithful with robust Navy Seals.
Rugged militants searching for honorable troopers,
a fighter waiting to be found by a dedicated recruiter.
Courage becomes a mission that creates no boundary,
to save our country within mental states of quandary.
Enemy's break through and many soldiers become hero's,
they protect our freedom from disasters like ground zero.
The Privates in the Army teach discipline and respect,
so proud to be an American, what more should we expect?
Freedom comes with a price and too many lives are lost,
so much fear and trepidation when enemy lines are crossed.
All the soldiers are laid to rest in Arlington Cemetery,
for when freedom finds the fire, fighting is necessary.
