I Never Left You

I NEVER LEFT YOU

When youthful restless hearts hear defining calls
With volcanic strength they will respond
The impetus for adventure overrides
All rational thoughts, out of window they go
For youth knows no bounds of daring appeal

Twenty I was, when I heard the “buzz”,
With gusto and a lick of good sense I made the run
Carpe Diem was my exalted, exuberant cry
So I followed the path to places to me unknown
To her, I whispered with pain and sorrow
I must seek what the world to my lot bestowed
But be assured that one day for you I shall return
Feeling liberated and not knowing why
Effusive and with feigned bravery I bid to all farewell
The beyond had the smell of fragrant thrills
From America to America my journey began
Imbued with hope, dreams, and strong will
I began carving a new life, a new beginning
Dreams, goals ,and desires within me abounded
To fail was never a contemplated option
For failure the young bravely defies

All those memories of a half century ago
Come back to me in flares and bursts of fading energies
Now that I am approaching the sunset of my days
Wondering wastefully how it might have been
Had I not pursued the Echo of that life changing call
That outcome will never to me be known
But oh! How I long and yearn for that love I bid farewell
My ashes will one day fertilize a seed above that green hill
From that seed a tree will grow into a refuge
To shelter, in hot, sunny or stormy days, living fragile things
Then I shall sleep eternally in tranquil peace
Knowing that I kept, though belated to her my promise
And in serene harmony, proclaim, “I never left you my beloved Brazil”'.

Isabel

Sautéed scallops on the skirts of Italy
Debutantes of a chardonnay shimmy
Mediterranean terraces of broached stars
Gucci wallets moonlighting baroque hearts
Manolo Blahnik legs lavishly luring
High heel sculptures of effusive Etruscan art
Olive ties stirring perfumed Sicilian thighs
Inhaling fragrant glasses of jasmine jet eyes
Rosy secrets saturating burning blotted lips
Fiery fertile plumes of Pompeii's fresco kiss
Vesuvian silence preening suave sable hair
Folded napkins of toasted Venetian affairs

Premium Member Enigma of Time

Arriving there, open door to floors bare
Moist was air, dwelling effusive with peace
The enigma of time began to cease
Oblivion to all but ocean, just stare

Simplicity for a few days; nowhere
To go, timeless, watch Gulls instead of Geese
Yesterday's ravenous problems release
Now live on sublime seaside oasis' air

Aster, Willow won't sway in zephyr this day
Only kaleidoscope color 'pon water shone
Exquisite view for me, myself, alone
This ecstasy delight not auspice by they

Lilac, Lily doesn't bloom, chrome rust away
Impervious bug repellent glistens in defiant stone

Premium Member Man Alive-Deep Purple

Written: February 25, 2024

                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A sun sets in the west; oh, boy, he has gone to rest,
Mama grips her breast in an apocalyptic pain quest.
Each diaphanous creature feeds on crimson land,
Grass on city streets—an effusive sight as we stand.
After the juice ran out, the town turned silent,
Silence, a somber speech—no swoon is violent.
Yet, something has splashed up on the beach,
A man who is still alive but too flabby to reach.
After millennia, a desultory one can fathom,
The chimera, an epiphany of root phantom.
Humanity perished—ephemeral rapt by the void,
Lambent nature likes a vacuum, such a devoid.
Earth purged, and no desuetude of amort era,
Ideal and dwarf beings graze on reddish terra.
Lawns on sidewalks are an emollient reminder,
A vibrant town, now conflate on a flow grinder.
Washed up ashore, just a transient figure,
In a post-man scene—an evanescent creature.
His arrival bestows a nostalgic gaze on the past,
A calyx relic from a world that couldn't last.
The town remains quiet—a haunting hush,
As nature reclaims what was once lush.
But a man on shore is a relic of our fate,
A transient being left to contemplate.
In a post-man script, beshrew a world once alive,
But now, it's just a memory, a fading strive.
The man on the beach, a symbol of our demise,
He gazes at the sky with weary eyes.
Apocalyptic distress engulfs us all,
As we witness the closing, the final fall.
But amidst the chaos, a sparkle of hope,
In the transient nature of humanity's scope.
Grass that grows on city streets is a resilient sign,
Cynosure nature prevails, even in mankind's decline.
Cities may be quiet, but echoes of our past remain,
Whispers of the wind and the rhythm of the rain.
It's taken me sixty years
Of evolution
To realise the simplicity
Of Earthen electricity
My naked feet, like freshly cleaned
Battery terminals
Strolling in hilarity
To observe correct polarity
Electrons flowing in and out
As I freely shuffle about
In hippyfied insanity
With toes embracing nudity
The science is effusive
So wonderfully conclusive
My body craves perfection
In each pedantry inflection
So to join the sockless roamers
The grass lovers and beach combers
I will earth myself completely
With each step I place, so neatly
Is it magic or just factual?
Like a nature deal, contractual
Or perhaps we were never meant
To be disconnected, discontent
And maybe it's progression
To dismiss the shoe of intercession
Returning to natural citizenship
Of barefoot - grass relationship
Reject the concrete,
Resist the vulcanised persistence
Embrace the beauty
Of a sole-full existence
Premium Member The Captive Quill
Written: September 09, 2023
______________________________________________________________
In the abyss of night, I'm held captive tight.
Addiction to idioms fuels my Phoebus fight.
I abide, vouching sporadically to escape,
From the clutches of zeal, I can't reshape.
But my quill rebels; it won't be subdued.
It dances on my fingertips, its blaze renewed.
Beleaguered by a kindle of syllables, they persist,
Won't charter me to chime, profess, and insist.
Oh, the maudlin whispers of writing passion,
Entice me; draw me into a bathetic attraction.
I whirl to abscond, to relish some release,
But the chains of my quill hold me in peace.
The words flow through me as a river so fierce,
With every pen stroke, my soul finds its release.
I'm a jailbird of this art, an enthused devotee,
In a realm of words, I rapture my sanctuary.
My heart stumbles, as leaves in the fall breeze,
But the quill snatches them away with grace and ease.
It weaves them into verses, a kernel of emotion,
An effusive love, and life's endless commotion.
I am bound to this pen, this captive quill,
Forever entwined in its enchanting thrill.
Despite my huge wack, I cannot escape.
Inevitably, it leads me back to my true shape.
So I embrace this addiction, this passionate fire.
Within its depths, my spirit soars higher.
I surrender to the rhythm and melody of words.
As they dance upon pages as fluttering birds.
In the act of writing, I find my true self.
Ink flows freely, such as a river of wealth.
I may be a captive to this quill; it's true,
But in its captivity, I am set free too.
Addiction to writing is a powerful force.
It guides me, shapes me, and charts my course.
I may be a captive, but I am not alone.
With every word written, a connection is sown.
Mahogany motionless shadows
cast by deceitful sun,
a caterwaul unravels,
coeval betrayal
voice beckons glimpses
—of anguish
within the heart loci,
once pure and corpulent,
now rapt by crestfallen darkness,
bereavement blight.
synchronous with aquifers
Interfluve ferri-crete...
desultory.
A love so tender,
akin to a fragile bloom,
now withered and wilted,
lost in the gloom,
a vow is broken
trust shattered in shards
of diaphanous slogans
leaving behind, disconsolate
heartbreak—real misery abounds.
In magenta shadows
cast by a deceitful sun,
whispers of deceit,
waltzed in the wind,
saffron sun rays
masked the spuriousness
in perfidy of truth,
as a venomous snake—slither
exposing whopper &
taradiddle
causing hearts to wither
In depths of darkness,
truth did reside,
unveiling deceit,
where love once thrived,
a web of lies spun
entangling hearts
in a web of
perfidiousness
deviousness
guilefulness
& flimflam
how the heart weeps,
its innocence lost,
It once held love's warmth
betrayal wound is effusive.
A turbulent ocean
of bereavement
overwhelms this heart
eviscerate...
& in egregious pain
no relief in sight
only an aching hole
despite sorrow
mercilessly embraces
a glimpse
of grace and hope,
yet, darkness...
holds strength
empyreal resilience.
Premium Member Palimpsest of Love
Written: August 05, 2025, for contest Marathon Mile 3 Poetry Contest / Sponsor- Mark Toney
               ***************
As it rises shakily, the aurora radiates,
 Shore gets battered by periwinkle waves.
 Scarce alabaster turns to an ebonized sheen.
 A sacred, somber, and katabatic sorrow.
A mild ache dances around joyfully,
As kindred souls merge in a forlorn embrace.
And halcyon as paradisal opiate utopia
It is as vast as the unclaimed love.
Your skim was both ethereal and brief,
It hinders my span of lethargic wandering.
Chest pain at every peak: a fipple passion,
Gossamer scenes that wish to last forever.
We gamboled beneath auric heavens,
Effusive murmurs in dulcet hush.
Stringent crave twirled in tricky loops,
A mental usufructuary, weak and eternal.
The limb caresses a vulnerable, airy speck,
An ambrosian ache in a weary world—
Meticulous truths submerged in the deluge,
A shredded hope, a shriveled flame.
Love is a chimera—a ripple on a palimpsest.
Crestfallen spume claws the coast calyx.
Then resiles, bedraggled, into amorphous dusk.
Amort embrace, undone, beshrewed by time.
Now, balmily, you are my nepenthe,
A calix once held—an ambivalent ache.
And I, a desperate-looking romantic,
Forever ephemeral, forever asunder.
Premium Member Intellectual Peer Pressure
Intellectual peer pressure
The faces change from smiles to sneers
from effusive praises to contemptible jeers.
A man whose wisdom has been seen for years
now forced to face his prideful peers.
A man whose intellect is simply beyond compare
those who read his works just stop and stare.
How can someone hold their own and debate such a man?
His thoughts and reasoning's are as well laid out plans.
His eloquence, his observations, are without any match
outwitted, his enemies, launch and scheme a hateful attack.
He knows their devotion, to unproven theories, is like a religion
He does not cower as he faces their vitriolic words of derision.
The odds are against him, hundreds to one, but he declares his faith in God!
Silence is deafening for a few moments, then one brave soul applauds.
The crowds turn against the two of them, in a heated hateful rage
Ignorance and prideful enmity, is clearly on display!
Without acknowledging that he might be right, they were both voted out!
But, forevermore in the back of their mind there is that lingering doubt...
Dang, you're gone.
You're really gone?
Andrea says so and she's no liar.
All your effusive
romantic
over-the-topness.
Frantic, fearless, forever flighty,
fabulous, ferocious for-realness.
Gone.
Waiting for the rest of us.
Sure to have flowers and rivers,
cliffs, sunsets and descriptions we'd never have thought of
on our own.
Until we meet again.
Namaste.
Poetry
An instrument of beauty,
poetry is art at its best
with its verses of passion
penned with love
in assorted and variegated
metrical composition
with sublime and
aesthetically satisfying flow.
It is a creative exposition
that unfolds and enlightens
with enchanting constructs
the demonstrative and
effusive characterization
of language by utilizing,
promoting and bestowing
the nature and power of words.
Proclaiming ideas and ideals
of principled excellence
with creations anew
and history of old,
poetry exhibits an appetite
for knowledge and wisdom
and a profound propensity
for purposeful revelation
with an insatiable desire
for intimation and meaning
displayed with heartfelt emotion.
With its aspiration to show case
in magnificent scribal splendor,
poetry entices and compels
the artist and consumer
to explore and transcend
imagination and intrigue,
and solicit introspection
with unfathomable penetrating thought
that is calmed by grace and elegance.
Philosophical and spiritual,
entertaining and healing,
poetry commands laughter and tears
or sorrow and joy,
Its clamorous and powerful
phonologically expressive morphemes
can awaken and stir passion and romance
or summon logic and reason.
Poetry,
resplendent in wisdom,
captures love,
inspires hope,
provoke curiosity,
resonates drama,
evokes mystery,
uplifts spirits
and expresses grief.
So magnificent,
so powerful,
so wondrous
is the nature and
the majesty of poetry.
Aesthetic Fireworks In a Soiree
Sparks of golden quarks
Amazing particles of heart
Pyrotechnic shower
Too fine
Almost from cloud nine
Rise from the articulation-flood
In the fulfilled flow of fascinated blood
As effusive praise in Aha and Wows
The moment a poet finished an Urdu shayari in a mood of sunset
Like in the couplet:
“If someone were to listen, one thing I will opine
Love is not a crime forsooth it is grace divine”
in a poetry soiree
in a gleaming evening
I can see in the frame of my mind’s eye
Those soul-sparkles in a diamond glow
With jaws distended in a gape
In a variety of shape
Beautifully blowing up
By the chorus of wows, and wah wah
In the wake of delivery of the rhythmic couplets and quatrains
Fine grains of pain
Pomegranates in pleasure
In poetry or shayari
Also called “Sher”
And then the sparklers from the listeners taking illuminated seats
On the trees in the garden
Looking resplendent with those fireworks of satisfaction
Grand vocal pyrotechnics of the artistic colors inside our soul
Our whole world now at the goals of releasing
The ingrained heat and light
Into softly loud appreciation and approval from the aroused assembly
Of pink interest
An aesthetic quest
in the bird-like flying of the eloquent firework
The sophisticated atomizer of stirring pyro-spark
A soul-stirring recital followed by the sparks of applause
From the embers of the latter arise another shayari
On goes the reciprocation
Of passionate oral fireworks of elation
Quarks in the pulse
Shower of polished spark
In sublimation of our basic dark
In testament to the sublime
The lily of the valley
Blooms aggressively with vigor
And simplicity in my alley.
The effusive, exquisite lilac
In a kaleidoscope of delight
Is the empress of my universe.
She’s a fantastical sight.
Then a ravenous, incognito slug
Invadeds my moist oasis
Planning to live in impervious bliss
In desalinated places.
Salt is a slug repellant
So I get out the shaker
And in a most splenetic rage
I send him to his maker.
A gelid, glacier-like winter
In ricochet across the way
Has tainted plants I though impervious
A mass of them died yesterday.
Now a zephyr breeze is blowing
And spring aster is in bloom
In an ecstasy of unity
In my excessive garden room.
A mass of tiny snowbells
Raise faces to celestial sky.
Ironic is their brave survival
When so many exquisites die.
With confidence, I garden
And with hubris I will admit.
As long as I have a place to dwell
At no time will I quit.
The Party
They come from darkness,
Eager to the lighted place.
Cold hands clasp warm -
Hi! in a welcoming embrace.
Proffered camaraderie cuddles
Kindred spirits in a cloud;
Buzzing breezy banter oozes
From a jesting jocund crowd.
Rum raucus pleasantries tipple
In tailored pin-striped suits;
Convivial capering denim does
A cabaret in cowboy boots.
A painted celebrating clown
Greets gingham in a merry mix,
While a furtive feigner in a corner
Shades eyes from his tantalizing tricks.
Restive ribald revelers gather,
Garnishing gushing smiles.
Snared eager effusive faces
Trap a miscellany of styles.
Each one pursuing pleasure
In a convulsing carnival of joys;
Each one a bubbly bauble sparkling
In its own peculiar noise.
Some Girl
Sure that she was a real pearl,
Many calls, always no answer,
Would have sung in the streets for her!
Would have jumped off a bridge for her.
Guess not really in love,
Or just not into me sick of,
Erasing  my effusive calls,
Or yet again too much schmalz.
well that's the very sad end
Of my going off the deep end
For some girl I soon forgot,
Wish could say was distraught!
