Phantom of the Opera

I stand and watch from my box five
And listen to the most beautiful Nightingale
I could stay awake till wee hours of dawn gale
Listening to her melodic voice
Transcendent a soul through a lovely vale
A ring upon her finger I hope one day and feel alive

   An Angel of Music
I come and go as I please and no one knows
As I walk the path of the tunnels mongst those
To its lake beneath the Opera Garnier
I know them as well as the construction rose

Mask ball I pretend to be in my everyday life
A voice behind a mask is all people know of that
A man that wears a dress suit, a cloak and a large felt hat
A gentleman wears a mask to hide his deformed face.

She cannot fathom the mystery of the Man’s Voice
The sounds of his voice singing songs coming from the walls

My heart broke turning into jealousy and rage
When Christine said yes to her childhood sweetheart
To say good-by forever and turn the pages
I lose my sleep to sleepless nights it’s her I miss

   Venetian mosaics ceiling weakens
Causing the huge ornate crystal chandelier
To crash down upon the floor
Stealing his beloved Christine
To the cellars of the Opera Garnier

Time is running out and you know it well
“It will never be “she says, for you and me”

I just wanted to be like everybody else
And not hide from man’s eyes
The Monster I am

The Thrilling In-Between

"The Thrilling In-Between"

Touched
Soft cerebral
warm breath
paints dusky the warm place
whispers across satin skin
laces come undone
on the lost floor fallen
her skin runs like a river
under the velvet of
his beckoning windows
she’s a mystery
as he tastes her
boundaries
between the
districts of
stay or go
Sliding hands
over a new map
uncovering secrets and
their uncharted territories
they're both deep
hidden-wells
he doesn’t want you
to feel ill at ease
she thinks where’s
the thrill in that, please?
genuflecting on her knees
Manifesting forbidden
apples is Eve
legs entwined around
Adam’s farewell green leaves
red cherry rose
lips to drink in
another’s soul
to taste and
Touch his
Soft cerebral

Moving ever closer
they dance the
Thrilling In-Between
two smiles evolve
conjoined flames
their largeness
in life grows
Burning hot
their sensual world
sanguine
immolating
cerebral soft
like a river
flows

Chapter 18,
"Ulysses" by James Joyce

“Her veins flowed with liquid poetry. I stole the words from her mouth with my kisses.”

Life Is Oh So Short 2

I married in 1962 the biggest mistake of my entire life the marriage ended in 1973 I was now free to be me and never married again. But I have had my share of girlfriends and love affairs throughout the years but liked my bachelorhood too much to ever marry a next ex. I developed a thriving business out of my garage in 1983 creating a product no one ever thought could ever be made in the flooring industry. If you like check it out by going to google and put into the search engine Sealflex Ind. Inc. all the information is still there. The business lasted for 26 years with my corporate office in Costa Mesa, Ca. and manufacturing plant in Dallas, Texas along with a dozen employees. The business lasted for 26 years until the downturn of 2008 when so many businesses in the construction industry went south, stuff happens.
I had to move to Northern Calif. where the cost of living was better for me without hardly any income to speak of. When you’re busted, broke and down and out and feeling depressed you must find your way all over again never giving up. I used to live in Huntington Harbor, Ca. in the ocean harbor I had a wonderful boat with all the trimmings life was so good back then now that great life is just a memory for me. When your business is lost, no income you must do what you must do in order to survive and stay alive. Never in a million years did I ever think I would ever write a book let alone 12 eBooks that are published on Amazon Kindle and my website www.enjoyanebook.com all science fiction and ghost stories I started writing books in 2009 using my pen name of Darren James. I have also written 3 complete books of over 350 pages each they are also science fiction soon to be published by a major book publishing house. Although I have been writing my poetry since 1976 with well over 1,500 poems published and a number of my poems in hard back books over the years.
Life is good but oh so short, so many things on my bucket list I intend to accomplish sooner rather than later. I love to travel and have enjoyed going to Thailand three times so far and want to return, possibly living their three months of the year.
This is my story so far with many other adventures to accomplish.

Words are slowly entered into computer word processors
Words are slowly photocopied into ebooks as are magazines, newspapers
Disappearing into text messages, faxes, emails _
Soon every one will have to use an electronic device to reach words...

What if?___Satellites start to fall from the sky...
What if?___The satellites images fail; no longer reach earth?
What if?___Total black out from the satellites?
Will people be able to communicate with each other..
Or won't they have a clue as how to speak to their fellowman?

Just some really weird random thoughts that has been bouncing in my head__

AGE comes upon. us gradually,realisation
hits us all of a sudden.Hearing no longer
acute, coments and questions will need a
repeat for our world is no longer distinct.
One day we need assistance with what
others voice and say.Deficient,an aid. to
complement the grey.
AGE comes upon us so gradually realisation
hits us all of a sudden.Floaters appear in our
eye, magnification is needed for things both
near and far,the door is ajar.
AGE comes upon us so gradually realisation
hits us all of sudden.Fingers have nodules
and bumps,no longer grip and to prevent a
fall,we walk with a stick.

Wisdom and experience of life is ignored,
not wanted at all.Absent the mind, sometimes
'senior moments' we recall for the realisation
of age,so gradual creeps up on us all.

the rhythm of life.
This insight ,this impression echos

in verse,sounds with silences
voiced aloud.I leave now in your ear.

DEMI sonnet a TIEN love sequence

Dear one where have you been,I missed you so

Come here, what can I say to make you stay

Why would you go when love is so near

Pray leave the past , your love can fill this void

Come let us dance in step, close up once more

A hug, a kiss, hold me, tell me you're mine

Let us wed, wear my ring, make this heart sing

a TIEN is a ten , one syllable word sentence with no title I derived from Tichborne' s famous elegy.

Time images, bold mosaics of
haphazard experiences.Tangled
senses expressed aloud in
intense series of sound.The
scales of time in elastic pulses,
spontaneous degrees of stress,
of thought and feeling, irregular
and unrhymed prose,of swing
and vim breathed phenomenas.

Yesterdays Books

for a while now i’ve been taking advantage
of the online used book market
which is piling up the stock from all of those
vulnerable little bookstore---
the smart ones,
seeing the writing on the wall & no doubt,
the commercials for kindles, nooks and the
pandigital novel for androids,
they have committed their store’s holdings to
bigger online reservoirs who are getting rid of
tons of literature
for next to nothing,
as the death of print media & the complete conversion to
ebooks looms on the horizon.

today i received one in the postal mail,
the snail mail,
which still holds true at present in serving a legitimate function
which we have yet to make
digital---
while opening the package to pull from it the work i had ordered,
i was submersed in a wave of
old book smell---
it was not the moldy disgusting smell that you might find at a
garage sale
when people are throwing away their junk because the ceiling had
fell through and water had gone
everywhere,
instead,
it was the smell that only a reader who has been taking part in the act
for quite some time
would know---
it is as if the wooden shelf that the book had been sitting on for
all these years
enveloped the book itself &
holding the book to my nose,
flipping the pages slowly
i felt like i was in a library all to myself &
as i have in the past,
like a kid in a candy store,
i felt as if this online rounding up of all the dying little stores
was my own way of turning my abode into that
store which liberated me through offering me so very many
abundant treats---
this smell tickled my intellect & my consciousness,
it wreaked something of sandlewood, dust and quite frankly
aged
paper,
which holds a unique & wonderful scent
all its own.

yesterday’s books never seem to disappoint &
that is not to say that i do not look forward to more years being alive
where large quantities of new literature do not make their way to me
via our most cutting edge technology
whatever that might be---
i consider it a pleasure to stroll amidst the paragraphs,
the sentences, the words,
the meanings & the overall
narratives,
wherever they might take me.

Occupy

I don’t live in a tent
But in my heart I too occupy
Part of the everyday 99%
Perturbed, precarious nation
Leaders ambivalent and anti compromise

Poor schoolchildren denied
Welfare women restricted
Diminished services for sick and elderly
“We can’t afford it!
While those who deny live lofty
Not yet gnawed by hunger, cold and no roof”

To protest, demonstrate
First Amendment – peaceably
Healthy youth, aged, homeless
Misfits -all
More than just a right
Ignorance, inaction left a vacuum

In tents or on the square
Peacefully or under arrest
Regain respect
Have the rich pay their share
For teachers, police
You bankers atone for greed!
As profits mount for the 1%
We can’t all be hypocrites
Where is the fairness?
Where is the justice?
Where is the future, our tomorrow?

Do you hear us?
You can see us –
And we can see you too!
I really don’t have to occupy you
I am a resident
I am here to stay
Can you see and hear me now?
