Morning sunrise through the sleepy eyes of a young boy bringing
anticipation of sundown and a starlit night
while the chevy still slept in front of the house soon to be
treated to a sponge bath and turtle wax while an internal cleansing
prepared for the evenings adventure dollar a carload
and the carload is two
cruising to the row in the back and waiting for a show to start
that would never be seen
for you were the queen of the last row
of the drive in picture show
And I was the fresh prince of the back seat
of my Bel Air.

Premium Member Dream Series: My Vegetable Garden

Last night I dreamed I was weeding my vegetable garden in the Drive-in theater, while people wandered back and forth from snack bar to their cars.

While pulling weeds, I saw a banana slug and was about to squish it when I realized it had legs. It was an eight foot monitor lizard! I chased it around the grounds and finally caught it and put it in the car. Then I went back to my garden to see if that huge tiger salamander was still there. It was!

I decided to go home with the monitor and the salamander when I realized, oh no, my little dog Daigoro was in the car! I got all frightened the monitor ate him, but he was perfectly all right. The rest of the dream was trying to drive home with Daigoro under one arm so the monitor wouldn't get him.

A Visit To My Drive-In

I knew you well many years ago
So full of passion
A cathedral where multitudes
Of lusting souls gathered
I watched intently at the images
You allowed me to see

Such a majestic creature
Towering high into the darkened sky
You gathered the light from a million stars
To power my imagination

A haven for teenage love
Your warm summer breezes caressed my heart
You showed me laughter, joy, love and sadness
I was your legacy, and I worshipped you

Time faded my memories
Progress devoured your simplicity
I lost youthful desires, hopes, and dreams
Replaced them with responsibilities, anxiety and conformity

I left you to die alone
Discarded like an animal’s carcass on the side of the road
Rotting in the rain and sun
Slabs of your silver skin decayed
Fallen to the ground to reveal the bones beneath

Tree limbs from the encroaching woods
Stick their boney fingers through the gouges
Like demons trying to pull free
From their eternal darkness
Nature is reclaiming you…
There is no one left to care

What I really wanted to do was

Have a little fluffy buzz

All the flashing lights

Were ever so bright

In the evening night

The carpet ever so red

Does it know how much I am in debt?

Hopefully this roll will work

There will be food on my fork

Trying to make it here

Wondering how many guys are watching with a six pack of beer

But I will be a star

Not at some local rural bar

Instead on the wooden screen

Where everyone will pay attention to my fearful scream

You see I am in the first scene

This is my modeling dream

To get knocked off

While making out in the barn loft

Reading scripture

In a moving picture

Scheduled for a limited run

At midnight everyone will have fun

Only a few minutes my character will be done

Venturing outside the big city

Acting enthusiastic and witty

Then tomorrow I will head to another gig

Pitching household goods or the Christmas pig

Getting away with my good looks

While reading way too many books

Wondering if I should study how to cook

Then I can appear talking in the morning

Career now is really soaring

Offers start coming in

Celebrity status accompanied with a shot of gin

Reclining back in my director’s seat

Reflecting about the time when I was innocent and sweet

Those were precious memories indeed

Since that was when they planted my bad seed

Drive-In Theater Memories

Many summers ago going to the drive-in was such a thrill

for me. Those long hot summer nights seemed to

disappear while at the drive-in. A trip to the concession

stand was what I really looked forward to, more than the movie

sometimes. Waiting for that old sun to go down, seemed to take forever,

then the cartoons came on, Popeye, Casper the Friendly Ghost

was seen most of the time. There were always at least three movies

sometimes more. Dollar night was great, where a whole car load got in

for just one dollar, no matter how many were in the car. Later as a teenager

we sometimes would stuff the car like a can of sardines. Other times we would hide

two or three people girls and guys in the trunk and then after we were inside they would

jump out and get in the car. After a while they caught on and had somebody watching

and they threw us out.

Many memories of my mom and her good friend John taking me to the drive-in,

we all had a good time. Now those are sweet memories i will never forget. They are very

few drive-ins and they cost so much that i have not been to one since 1969

when my wife Judy and I were just going steady, we saw the "Love Bug" with my mom

and her 5th husband Art.

Such sweet memories drive-ins were.

Drive In

Frantic groping in the back seat.

At the Drive-In

back-seated passion
sweaty, urgent grappling
sexy summer sin

Special Drive-in Movies
By Franklin Price

There were special drive-in movies, when with no money for a date
Guys would pool the cash we had and test our drive-in fate
One would be the driver to keep us from the funk
Was in the car all himself the rest were in the trunk

Drove up to the ticket booth and paid for only one
The rest of us kept quiet; to be caught would be no fun
He parked behind the snack bar, it was darkest there by far
Then he opened up the crowded trunk and we all got in the car

The drive-in north of Cocoa offered some variety
Surrounded by a grove of trees no fencing there to see
The driver paid, the rest of us hid among the trees and grass
Ran from the trees, dove in the back, as he came rolling past

First we landed on the seat then rolled onto the floor
To make room for the next one; there were always several more.
I know just what you're thinking; was the trunk not there to use?
Of course it was but this was fun, provided more ways we could lose

The adrenaline was flowing; there was excitement in the air
If anyone had caught us, would say we did it on a dare
I don't have to tell you; teenage boys think they are king.
Think they are invulnerable and can conquer anything.

No one ever caught us; it was always more than fun
I thought it was a challenge; and was not the only one
Didn't think it was a big deal, just a stupid teenage prank
None of us were bad guys; and with you I'm being frank.

There'll be no Valentine treats
Fancy chocolate to see
No roses in a clear vase
Just a meal on wheels

Millie's Drive-In

Millie's drive-in was place
to go for best tenderloin sandwich
in Des Moines, or any place as far as that goes.

Back in the Fifties and Sixies,
if you were anyone at all,
during the summer months
and weekends you were,

seen there with your
buddies or a girl friend,
service there was A-1.

If you ever watched
the TV show Happy
days,

you get an idea of
what Millie's drive-in
was like.

Their tenderloins
melted in your mouth
and left a taste that
lasted a long time.

Sometime ago Millie's
closed down, with
my youth went with it.

Goodbye Millie's
it was nice memories
you left us, so sad,
that your gone.

Drive In Movie

Five o clock friday a hot afternoon
Daddy will be home from work real soon

Here he comes pulling into the driveway
58 Chevy pickup ill drive that truck someday

Into the house he went he had a hard day
Brother and i following behind him daddy daddy daddy

Momma cooking spaghetti aroma filled the house
Momma said wash your hands boys dont shout

After dinner daddy said lets go to the drive in
I jumped up and down momma said whats playin

Goldfinger Steveve McQueen The Great Escape
Wow i thought in my mind i cant wait

Out of the house we all left
Into the car we all piled in 56 Olds Rocket 88

At the drive in were pullin in
Daddy paid 50 cents each kids under 12 free were in

Almost dark now movie about to start
A big cockaroach ran across the cars dash momma jumped out of the car

Those were fun times a kid growing up
Memories of the drive in daddy made it happen just for us
