Best Douses Poems
A hollow heart devoid of love
is like a night no stars above,
or like an old abandoned well
whose empty echoes speak of hell.
A lonely heart will gently weep
as raindrops through her veins will seep,
and cascade down a pallid cheek,
and leave a weary spirit weak.
My broken spirit aches with pain
when sun sinks low at end of day,
and darkness douses hopes thereof
as midnight chimes amidst the rain.
These sad forsaken dreams portray
my hollow heart devoid of love.

Sonnet
A scarlet sun slips over the edge of Earth;
its light banished until Dawn's rebirth.
And Night stifles a dog's bark
with tunes of a lark;
just before
dark.
At its core,
ebony seems stark;
till fireflies light up the park.
And as Dusk douses feelings of mirth;
a scarlet sun slips over the edge of Earth.

As rippling horizon
douses fiery orb,
you are at your
most alluring.
Ethereal,
diaphanous limbs
stretch out,
reach for me,
beckon to me.
Barely audible murmurs,
laced with
forbidden promises,
cross the distance
between us.
Whispers become
more insistent,
more urgent,
more pressing.
Begging, cajoling,
pleading, coercing,
demanding that I come to you,
that I give myself to you.
Eventually,
inevitably,
relentless appeasement
erodes my resolve.
Heedless of the warnings,
heedless of the risks,
I succumb completely,
totally and willingly,
without compunction,
without restraint.
Wrapped in your embrace,
rapt in your presence,
I submit to your whims.
So implacable,
indefatigable,
I'm utterly entranced.
You draw me down,
encourage me,
guide me,
bid me explore you.
Probing your inner sanctum,
I crave you,
love you,
know you.
Your scent,
your taste,
your sounds
fill my every sense.
I inhale you, imbibe you,
devour you, as you -
in turn - devour me.
Your very essence engulfs
every inch of my body.
Breath snatched from lungs
as passion escalates,
threatens to consume me,
promises to consume me.
I thrash atop you,
beneath you,
within you;
borne aloft
on waves of ecstasy.
And finally,
finally,
when I have
no more to give,
you cast me aside.
Giddy,
exhausted,
totally spent,
I roll over and watch,
helpless,
as you pull away.
Trembling
outstretched hands
cruelly snubbed.
Desperate pleas
callously spurned.
And then you're gone.
Our time together
was so brief,
so fleeting,
so transitory.
I'll never forget
our impassioned tryst,
but you won't even
remember my name.
Jealousy's venomous barb
pierces my chest
at the thought of
you with another.
I have no wish to share you,
yet I lay no claim to the
Daughter of Poseidon.
You belong to nobody...
...but...
...you do belong to everybody...

Bit of a departure for me... before you think I've gone all "Fifty Shades of Grey", the whole poem is metaphorical.

A ribbon of gold floats
on placid waves of blue.
And with a searing kiss,
Sol bids the sea adieu.
Slipping between ripples,
slippery shadows slide.
And Luna starts to tug
upon the rising tide.
A wind-wrecked derelict
fades to a silhouette.
A rusty bow, tangled
in an old fishing net.
Silver slivers of cloud
get tarnished by the Night.
And as darkness gathers,
Dusk douses Day's last light.
An orange horizon
underscores His descent.
And Day starts shutting down
with Sol's regal consent.

BARCELONA FLAMENCO
clicking of heels, like torrential downpour. guitar
plucking at the eardrums, chest wall erupting.
like a hurricane of crisp crimson leaves of Autumn ~
a raked pile, blowing around in tumultuous sweep,
her skirt, spread out in the expanse of rubious dawn,
passion’s glorious splendor, a prolific hunger.
his eyes dance as frenetic flames, hypnotized
by Spain’s red cape. His imagination, like a bull,
thunders, steaming nostrils, horny stabs at the
glorious threads of her swirling romantic escapade.
buxom black smoke and radiant yellow-gold crackles,
whip the frenzy, of her smoking hot Barcelona flamenco.
he nearly succumbs, exhausted from the steam room,
the ferocious red waves lapping at his face, his feet,
his heart. he decides he must meet her, when the fire
dims, douses, settles. he must charm the incubus.

The owls, hoo knows why, they do give a hoot.
Do humans give a hoot, or holler more?
The moons of hollowness...the wait for loot.
The holy prayer-knees...the beak defeats.
The dove descends with not a hoot, but peace.
A gentleness does fill a broken heart.
A grieving grace from God — the tears’ release.
Oh Geez! The anguish lifts...the fog departs.
Or does it leave? Wait, not so fast! Those tears
They shine like diamonds not polished yet.
The roughness, of the hooters hell, I fear —
They’ve, left the perch, on fire; God’s shield is wet.
Yay! for the shield is wet — it douses threats.
The umbrella of God wields no regrets.

My fantasy was spawned from her
Her eyes have drawn me to the Vermillion light
Witnessing the gaze of a glistened perfection
Midst the whirl of Gemini
Bedazzled whirl of Mercury's kindred spirit
Enthralled by the ascending clarity
She douses me with the feeling of luminosity
Wrapped by the robe of lust
Being greeted by the endless forms most beautiful
Captivated by the Vastness of corresponding dreams integrated
A flowing free Swanheart, a constellation seeping allure
Impulse dwelling, vison dwelling by a shook desire
To bide by my own ecstasy of ardor
In my state of reverie I see her alleviating from her attire
I can't help myself, to be driven by a woman of my attraction
Flaunting her soul case, I'm in need of passion
To be an admirer of a visualizing frame
A flame haze takes me
Burning fervently, I can hear her sighs
Hooked by the lace of binding flare
Sweetened aroma from the fairest inamorata
Traced by the crystal grace of thy heart
O body, O mind, O soul
Bending the perfume scented space
Just a bundle thoughts pursuing images of splendor
A revealing view, a window opening reality
Avina Netu is my fantasy

Silver flashes through ocean swells
sound ripples across the water
strolling the moonlight kissed water
surrender to nights sensual promise
foam breaks, mermaid soars resplendent
cobalt teal diamond skin shimmers
powerful tail propelling her way
phosphorescence trails behind
sea sparkles flitting in her wake
face startles, finely dotted aqua spots
thick lips pout, fierce, predatory
fiery orange and red markings
warrior lines swirling, cheek to neck
swims towards me, I’m awestruck
daggered teeth, transfixed
purple searing eyes, allured
flips mid-air, veers away to plunge deeply
her tail douses me in sea water
I laugh and marvel
savage beauty of the sea
silver flashes through ocean swells

THE DANCER AND THE POET (Satis Shroff)
There she is a blonde Flamenco dancer,
From a family that was long dysfunctional.
The poet said: ‘Dance, my dear to the rhythm
Of the guitar and my lyrics.’
She pushes her feet to perform the fiery rhythms,
She dances in a trance,
Like a shaman in a séance.
By working them out
Till she’s exhausted after each dance.
Her praises her in his verses,
Suddenly he lets her fall down.
This makes her doubt;
Melancholy creeps into her heart.
She thinks: ‘When we came together
It was like a blitz,
That touched my heart.
You brought me fire like Prometheus,
Kindled it within me.
Ah, love when we’re together
We come out of our shells
And enter each other.’
* * *
Our love is like a flower with feelings
It needs to be cared for,
It needs the sun so that the perfume
Can unfold itself.
Your hatred is a contagious fire,
Like darkness which douses the fire within me.
I feel the ecstasy and love dying.
Alas, the magic of amour has disappeared;
Leaving behind only a faint hope.
* * *
I gave you my love,
You gave me your poesie,
Written in love’s flaming script.
You gave me light but also darkness.
Your kiss stirred my soul;
My heart began to sing
Your body promised me secrets and delicious hours
I’d never known.
During the day I walked
Like in a dream with opiate senses.
* * *
‘I crouched below your window
Till your new lover stealthily went away.
I howled to the skies in vain.
How could such an immortal love pass away?
The vicissitudes of our relationship led me to a decision:
I saw the Mephisto unveiled in you,
I have no desire to follow you to Hell.
Adieu, my veiled friend and tormentor.

Blank verse
pile on the make up, no let's tone it down
let's stay here at home, come on paint the town
let's try to be good, I forgot guess I’m bad
let's say we’re sorry, I want to stay mad
better take it easy, let's speed it up
we should go slowly, let's not be abrupt
let's live together, I’ll break us apart
we love each other, let's say I’ve no heart
she played cool and smooth so easily gelled
we took form where every desire dwelled
the clock ticked as the midnight hour turned
thoughts abound my lover’s head that churned
soon a cold hard prejudice poured down
borrowed impudence from a battered clown
three candles lit on the dresser shinning bright
dancing and swaying on two lovers in the night
in creeps the Tormentor down low and out of sight
with a dank hand full of sorrow douses candle light

The Lady has a tear in her eye
It douses the flame of her torch
Whose sparks perish on her lifeless gown
Its greenery scarred, now a desolate brown
As the specter of nativism stalks her land
As strangers are branded 'undesirable,' and banned --
Recall what made America so great (again)
Was the raw energy of newcomers way back when
our floodgates opened wide to receive the tide
of ill-clothed, ill-fed dreamers, possessed of pride
to come here, and scratch and claw their way to our table,
to prove their worth, to show that they were able
to compete and make it in this Promised Land --
from which their spiritual descendants are now to be banned

A white-hot fire
That once raged furiously
Becomes a moribund flame
Flickering...
As it dims in the racing wind
Continually fighting
To keep on, yet steadily
Losing the battle
Til an unkind fate douses
The once smoldering heat
A lethal blow!
A white-hot fire
That once raged furiously
Now an evaporating smoke
The story of us...

Verse
The lady before me
Waltzes through my lane...
The air I breathe....
Mixes with her scent...
My exist-tense
Is fashioned around her
Day and night
I pawn around her lane
To smell her scent
She oozes an appeal..
That douses my medulla oblongata
What will I not give
To be with her if just for a day
I want more...
But I fear she wants less
The vultures envelope her
Like a conclave....
She wants to break free
I memorized my scripts
Dug out from the crypt
...Alas..the rule book fails
I stepped up my gear
To be in the clear
But am still in the dark
What to say is beyond me
What to do is unknown to me
She has the key
She pulls the strings
A tale of two cities
Just my luck...

Infernal heat
To suffer yes infernal heat,
To burn the fork out of your trouser seat,
submerged in loves tales of deceit,
when tender-loin arouses,
to burn with fires taste of lust,
to strap it down to stop its thrust,
to feel like it might surely bust,
unless the flame she douses,
to pander to this manly urge,
to feel the blood the rising, surge,
could be my fetal fatal final dirge,
from coming, passion flowers…
