Hope

Hope
I care not for the odds
Spoken by sooth sayer voices
They are blinded by statistics
For a seemingly sure concept
Though a bleakness dampens
Every fainting ray of light
There exist an unexplainable God
Characteristic of sensitivity
Endowed to man by birthright
To no other creature but he
In my bleakest hour
I dare not say
I do not believe
What I search for is an impossible concern
A thing so obscured
There seemingly just isn't a way
I trust not in mortal man
He does not grok the serverity of his own plight
For God my Father has just the plan
My wants are as heavy on my heart
As a weight to a drowning man
I can not save nor free a single sinner man
To heal the unhealable
Lame to walk again
To save the dieing
Breath to life again
I view both the rising and setting of sun
I walk in a light not viewed by temporal man
The wretchedness of worldly life
As I seek to do what is right
Infringed by fear of plotted death
What so ever to be my plight
Hope sustains when all reasonable efforts are tested
Hope- the belief in worldly impossibilities
Hope -the sweetest of God given characteristics
Hope -the strength to endure the unimaginable
Hope -the force of movement to that which would make still
Hope -the song for the heart when all instruments fail
Hope -the submission to death for there is life yet awaiting
Hope –the gift from God for our rejoicing

Feel

You knocked away ice, I felt buried within
I try not to feel the love you lay upon me

But tainted by others, I am unworthy of what you
graciously try to provide.

Your presence gone, this chiseled Cold heart
Comes back to unbreak me.

You claimed me as
YOURS.

Let go for I am no more.

Do not unglue me
For the madness lies in the
darkest region of my mind.

Shadows of our past, creep, lingering like
storm clouds above.
that storm dampens those once glorious, memories

There is no where to run from all this havoc

For I am torn apart by you,
a spell that I can’t undo

I feel Love

I feel Hate

I don’t want to feel this anymore

Premium Member There'll Be No Rain

There'll be no rain the forecast said
til January's wounded pride
erupts upon the bloomless beds
and weeps a pewter morning tide.

There'll be no rain for many weeks,
just plenitudes of overcast
that burn away as daylight peaks,
when noon's anemic sun is cast.

There'll be no rain, no wet respite
to irrigate depleted earth,
just flaxen grass in withered plight
that dampens all my yuletide mirth.

There'll be no rain this Christmas Day,
just arid hillsides' umber splay.

Alone I sit and watch the snow
Its sound disturbs my sleeping cat
A soft, low hum so powerful
It dampens any care or woe.
Though I love the spring flowerful
Winter’s white charms can exceed that
A picturesque countryside chat
A fire, cocoa, a grand view
Made magical when shared with you
Fine dusting of powder on trees
Whispered low, “A dance, if you please.”
I am Ginger, gliding about
You my debonair Fred, no doubt!
Our dance religion, we devout.
My dress, ice blue, swirls and glitters
To the delight of cute critters.
We fall, exhausted, on the floor
Sad our bodies can do no more.
I drift off, satisfying sleep
Blurry vignettes the dreams I know
When I climb slowly from the deep
Alone I sit and watch the snow.

Premium Member Your Grown-Up Mood

The sky's slate gray
   It's rained all day
Though children can't go out
They don't sit around and pout

Kids paint, they draw
   They learn to cook
Curl up with their favorite book

So, if ever rain dampens your grown-up mood
Activate the child in you ~ Don't sit and brood

Dungeon Delve

Mounted on his noble steed,
No taller than the tallest weed.

Prepared and ready for the plunge,
Protected from any type of grunge.

Staring down a darkened cave,
   Deep inside him feeling brave.

Blood flowing straight to his head,
Making it swell and turning it red.

He doesn’t know how long he’ll last,
He’s sure he’ll make it with his class.

In he dives into this hole,
Making sure he fulfills his role.

Jumping out to catch some air,
Sweat pours and dampens his hair.

In he dives yet again,
Trying to perform like other men.

The climax now just in sight,
As he spits and spews up white.

Tired and done from all the fun,
   Feeling good and not outdone.

Get your mind out of the gutter,
I speak of a Halfling whose name is Cutter.

Nobile steed a riding dog,
   riding through the morning fog.

Fighting goblins in a cave,
trying to prove he is brave.

Now read this poem again my friend,
And do your best to comprehend.

The truth is not what’s in your mind,
   Just natural thinking of mankind.

Premium Member Memory

the past recedes and what
was once a tsunami
of energy, exaltation and intent
or a depression of sadness and despair
play out into waves and troughs
of remembrance,
to ripples of recognition,
to a becalmed sea.
So too,
your resolve to remember always,
that awesome victory,
or deathly loss,
dampens down,
to the day you find that
you haven't thought of it
for years,
and now the details are
caricatures and cartoons that
you feel guilty and petty
for even mentioning.

If I Look In My Heart

If I look in my heart

~

I woke up this morning
the sun it was shining
Its light through the window
was all I could see

It’s then that I noticed
the gray clouds now calling
Just another day
that was waiting for me

Oh how I wish
for a beautiful sunrise
Glowing the heavens
as dawn does embrace

But only find rain
pouring down on this morning
While longing to see
the smile on your face

It’s funny it seems
every day this does happen
I wake to the sun,
glistening dew for a spell

Till my eyes focus
and peer at the drizzle
That dampens my world
when you’re not feeling well

Still I press on
as if all is quite normal
Head out the door,
face the day that does start

For this I know
on these days cold and lonely
You are always here
if I look in my heart

~

Premium Member The Sea Beckons

The sea beckons.
The air is heavy with heat,
the sun fries the streets
shrivels up trees
and I feel parched.
Tired I trudge towards the waterfront.

Still the sea beckons.
Sweat runs down my face,
wets my unshaved face,
dampens my collar,
as I plod towards
the pebble lined sea shore.
The small waves glimmer,
winking in hot rays,
inviting me to cool myself.

Insistently the sea beckons.
Summer is at its worst.
I hobble down
towards the beach,
pull down my clothes
and stand in the sun's emissions
wearing my swimsuit.

Constantly the sea beckons.
I trudge towards the water's edge,
jump in and then
come out quickly, yelping.
I feel a jelly fish sting,
it burns red across my thigh.
Disillusioned I tramp back home.
The sea beckons no more.

Autumn Memories

across tree-lined yards
leaves dance in colorful frocks --
distant school bell chimes

through open windows
the scent of pumpkin spice drifts --
an orange moon rises

under charcoal skies
rain dampens mouldering leaves --
a lone snowflake falls

Peace Out, Keep the Grease Out:

Words are far from true.
They disguise.
Wise stain eyes until real is all you need, free from salty cries.

This language spoken, only speed bumps the weak for weeks.
Years multiply by division of fear postulating theorems we could never speak.
WE, the freaks, magical, lucid and fragile.
Agile.

And they say, "Yeah kid, ya' really figured it all out this time, haven't ya'?
Peddling your flocking art through highway streets intergalactic! Tough **** eh...
Pandering, shove it in, push it down, sandpaper hard. Oh yeah, yeah, yes kiddo of the hour, stacked and flaccid at the same god damned time. Look at your rhyme big guy, talk of the town, pull my finger, wear the crown, funky clown!"

I say:
"WHO IS THEM ANYWAY ANY DAY? Wear your prose go man, even if it dampens their day. WHO IS THEM? WHO IS THEY? Keep on that art, words down, write 'em if ya' gottem', and when they don't understand, comprehend, two middle fingers, watch 'em fly sky high, watch 'em pretend, see 'em bend...get yir' gleam, enjoy that grin. Let them do them man, you do you! Art is pure, Art is true, Art is YOU!"

One more tid-bit of truth...
If skimming through someone's poetry is yir' game,
 ta' get plays,
cop-a-feel
steal love for your reel...
 I say:
"Peace out! Keep the grease out!
Shift gears, peel.
Do something real, or...disappear... like David Copperfield."

In a Hotel Room

The ghats, grey serpents in green thickets
cool and moist, dampens restless midgets

There ,in a hotel ,in the lushness of the tropic's crown
are trees mighty tall with neat flights of stairs hanging down.

stood perched on trees, a cabin each of uneven logs
with wooden planks hand-polished to parqueted floors

A large cypress cot,an inviting bed ,the sensuous Umrao-Jaan
on canvas overhead, glowing in hues from a crystal pan

white porcelain figures, lovers dancing on mantle;love lounges,
windows open to wild flora , a few ripe mangoes hanging in bunches

On the rails ruddy jasmine vines flaunt little white stars
antique bamboo lanterns at the door , happy to be ajar

warm aroma from oils of wild-herb toiletries exude
wanting a trickle on the heated hearts' pursuit

cute candles whispers roses and jasmine in the air
nothing more, the imp of the mind feasts on love in the air.

on the small balcony , the cool breeze of the underwoods caress
In this tree-house,bask in nature...at its best to soothe five senses.
