Best Contrasted Poems
Your tapestry
weaved with strands of light
Contrasted with threads of black
A marvelous mosaic
of a wondrous soul
I drape you over me
Feel your warmth
am nurtured
I hear the tune of you
Singing your happy songs
Yet if I listen
Closer
just a little closer
I am drenched with your tears
The alternate other you
I open you up
Lay you on the ground
Marvel at the intricacies of you
All the subtleties
The bold designs
Shapes I could never imagine
You are magnificent
Breathtaking
Awe inspiring
Contrasts co-existing
Harmony within each part
I resist the urge
To fold you up
Place you on a shelf
Keep you all to my self
A treasure just for my eyes to see
I look around
It's not up to me
You are connected to all
Other tapestries and endless sea
carried away by them you us and me
So I marvel and just let you be
Magnificent
Funny
Beautiful
Complicated
Lovely
Breathtaking
You

an ugly gray rock, so I kicked it along
amused by my memories, humming a song
it was jagged and rough - I gave it no mind
and punted it thrice, then left it behind …
I changed up my hum and walked on alone
not thinking it special, (it WAS just a stone)
yet the farther I got from where it had been
the more I considered that "plain" rock
again
something about its proportions or form
contrasted just slightly, was not quite the
norm
the way that it tumbled, or lay there, just SO
or maybe the way it had bounced off my
toe
whatever it was, I could not quite discern
but decided right then, it was worth a
return
so, I spun myself 'round, headed back to
that spot
still not sure of WHY - just a feeling I got
but when I returned, it had broken in two -
an incredible OPAL flamed red, green and
blue!
scant had I known just what "ugly" could
hold -
all the prismatic colors that smoldered,
untold!
well …
I couldn't help think that a lesson was there
of the plain folks we see, that we pass,
unaware
for they are more precious than any gray
stone
with such wonders inside - yet we leave
them alone
perhaps if we gave them a wink or a grin
we might find the bright of their beauty
WITHIN
the colors that light their charisma and
grace
the complexion of charms that don’t show
on a face
the places they’ve been or the roads they
have run
their moonlight romances and days in the
sun
the wealth of their spirit, their talents and
rage
they’ve a story to tell, if we’d just turn the
page
so, I keep in my pocket, a piece of that rock
to help me recall what I learned on that walk
not to take "plain" for granted, or push folks
aside
but instead, look for sparks of their fires …
deep INSIDE.

My heart was like a blank canvas, longing to be painted with love.
Full of curiosity, searching for the true colors of love.
Till you came in my life with a palette full of gripping colors
and painted my heart with an array of emotional wonders.
You painted me red with passion, you painted me pink in true love.
You painted me loyal with sky blue and zealous with green in curve.
You speckled me happy in yellow and contrasted colors in swerve.
You also sprinkled on me some specs of grey, brown and black colors.
My heart was like a blank canvas...
You filled my canvas of heart with all the vital colors of love.
You gave me a thrilling experience, true feeling of true love.
I never thought brief moments of love could be so full of colors.
I cherish all the deep emotions that amazes me with wonders.
You painted on my heart an abstract image, masterpiece of love.
My heart was like a blank canvas...

Leaving my son's house, a rain-burst had just passed.
At the edge of the wood, contrasted against dark clouds,
A single tree stood glowing.
Wet in the sun’s rays, its leaves shimmering in the breeze.
A feather in the forest glowing,
Singly.
Brightly shining yellow green,
A cottonwood applauds the coming of the rains.
Waving glimmering in rain rays, wet enlightening.
Reminding me to dance in the sun.

White blossoms of the Mountain Laurel
Contrasted to the waxy green leaves
Nestled under trees along the creek
Showing some of the beauty of spring
Snuggled on a blanket close to the edge
Enjoying the music that nature makes
Chirping of birds, no no not a word said
Rustle of leaves, buzz, buzzing of bees
Babbble of creek, splash of the deer's feet
Joy, oh, joy for the outdoor cheer
Wishing that we could share this time
This time of the year

A Random Act Of Kindness
A little old nun all dressed in black
A habit on her head and chest
Contrasted in white with her silver cane
Doubtful she could cross the street
A little boy sat on the curb
Playing with his spinning top
His hair a shiny yellow mane
A tee shirt and pair of shorts
He saw this figure very old
Dressed dramatically in black
A brandished sword was in her hand
A weapon that she did not hide
He stared at her with so much awe
He walked to her and took her hand
And checked the traffic as they walked
Then crossed her on the other side
She smiled at him and then she said
Thank you, little lad, you are very kind
You’re welcome lady, he said with pride
Any friend of Zorro is a friend of mine

Do you recall the fields of flowers, that swayed and shifted their stance
as the wind swirled around them?
Do you recall the leaves that floated in such stillness upon the puddled rain?
Their orange and yellow glow contrasted against the gray cloud reflections..
Do you recall the racing heart as it's beats drummed rapidly
knowing that lips would soon be surrendered and savored..
Do you recall the night that called out?
Inviting lovers to explore under the sparkling brilliance
Melting as one as the new day sun, painted pink the sky, with it's arrival..
Do you recall the dreams that filled head and heart?
The dreams that fell from fingers, no longer held..
The dreams that chase slumber from the night..
These things I recall, as I sit in quiet contemplation...TAH

Amazing Agape
The immaculate Father Almighty
Soul redeemer, merciful and mighty
Wear His yoke upon you of humble heart
How to live, to love it's a magic art.
Do not touch what is unclean says the Lord
Turn darkness to light with righteous accord
Believers are sons and daughters out there
God will receive into His holy care.
With clean hands and a heart that's truly pure
We'll stand in amazing agape for sure
Ascend the mountain of heavenly grace
Search with birds eye view earths beauteous place.
All things wonderful are work of God's hand
Could anything be as grand as His land
All people on this wondrous earth that dwell
Care for all that the Lord Himself made swell.
A guiding light shining out there in space
Embrace amazing agape with fine grace.

Footnote . . .
In Scripture, the transcendent agape love is the highest form of love and is contrasted with eros, or erotic love, and philia, or brotherly love.

Golden leaves transcend autumns harvest, contrasted by
Blazoned reds burnt offerings of summers final sacrifice to
The changing of the seasons, oh what a palette of magnificence,
Is nature set to the rheum of our universe!
In the chilling winds of falls grace, does the very breathe of
Winter chase, swooping and swaying through the branches
Of destiny thus to cometh forward, tenderly the trees do cry
Shedding their tears of color airy, brown to tan!
Racked piles of gathered teardrops, lain upon the lawns of
Evergreen yards, that are capture within the freezing breath
Of seasonal appease, for soon nature shall rest at ease, in
A blissful sleep, until awoken by springs warming whispering!
Rainbows harvest of autumn is this Kalightoscope of coloring,
A showering cascade descending in sheer brilliance reflecting
In the bitter sunshine of falls rebirthing, and the simple poet stands
Completely at awe, beneath these limbs of natural beauty,
Left alone to ponder the wonder he’s beholding!
Crushing footsteps smash against the idle puddle, containing
A single leaf trees sacrifice, the forget-me-knots remembrance
Of the summer gone past, and the winters fiery hearth of promise
To come, what a blazing embers of shadow to contrast, to a dreamer
Suddenly awakening from hibernation's spent sleep of illusions,
Now walking in a golden light of this autumn shower of the reflected!
Clinging do the lovers of this timeless season, bathing within their
Gaze lost amongst these trees of beauty, strolling along the lanes of
Passions unforgettable moments, photo impressions memorized in
The human thoughts album, forever to remain untarnished by age!
In the fields the farmer puts his tools of trade to rest at last,
Gathering prides harvest unto him one by one smiling,
He’ll warm himself by the flames of family and tradition,
Until the toiling begins next spring, the man shall sits at ease
At the hearth of hard works fire, as the leaves of autumn fall!
Let the dreaming poet write, allow the lovers to stroll undisbursed,
And the harvester to rest his weary brow at last, for the golden
Leaves of autumn are falling, cascading unto the evergreen lawns,
Gathered together into the piles of leafy teardrops, of summer
Forget-me-knots!

All That I ...
Authored by Chuck Keys
Looking to and fro side to side it wasnt in sight it had no scent
it had no dimensions nor phsyicality nor identity
yet just for a brief second I felt its cool breeze pass by
it contrasted sharply from the bright hot silent lazy late afternoon sun
the sweat on my brow made my skin tingle just ever so slight
just a brief tiny muscle twitch or 2
there was no warning no hint of what was coming or going only a wee afterthought.
Sssshhh nothing is moving not even a fly neither ant nor gnat
waiting patiently for a movement something must move but when
why was there so much blankness yet existence
sssshhh maybe just maybe it will come back
is it time must it be now aaaahhhaaa eureka I remember I think I know
it was my time to thank God again for all that I ...

The Art of Snow
I sit and gaze upon the wintry slope
Inside my aged abode so drab and plain.
Engulfed by white, the blizzard moves along
To lather brilliant bright the creviced roads -
A sparkling path to Heaven on display.
Angelic statues once were naked trees,
But now are blurred as in a Renoir style.
A muted palette paints the lovely scene,
Contrasted by the blue clouds up above.
The snow maintains the beauty coating all,
Into a wonderland of white and blue
Until the cold departs and warmth returns.

OUR RESPONSE TO JESUS: MAGNIFICENT PSALMS
Glory to this confusion: man and God
So simple, and so mysterious, a Triune Godhead!
Glory, glory, glory to our glorious God
LORD and King, Yahweh and Adonai, Elohim and El-Shaddai
We all must have, all must sing, Magnificats
Like Mary, who had heard of the LORD
Through Gabriel, Archangel and awesome:
(Yet in her day, a teenager dare not fall pregnant)
Faith comes from hearing … and she had heard of Israel's hope and salvation, The Messiah, and when Gabriel said the name, YESHUA, God is Salvation,
Knowledge and wisdom invaded Mary's mind, then her womb
Would I be willing to speak to a man in authority over me
And let him know he will not receive my first loyalty (Less than Mary)
Luke's Gospel contrasted a literate Priest Zechariah's disbelief
And possibly the "illiterate Mary's" question of a similar kind
He was muted (He had received much; was punished for believing less?)
The Virgin Mary willed herself to be used for Israel, for her LORD …
Yet she did ask, How is this to be since I have not known
A man, Aha! “Seed of woman” dispenses
With the seed of man, for that of God
Praise to the Holy Spirit, our Comforter
LORD we magnify you, glorify thy name
We are saved by faith, that begins with hearing the WORD
We can't do enough to be good; Adam showed that
The love of Jesus makes all things that are impossible, possible,
By faith in He who died on a Cross, the cursed tree
We have become children – to become co-heirs with Jesus still -
Beyond friend, as with Abraham, where we begin
Glory to God for Abraham and his obedience
Now we have surpassing access to God and Jesus
Yet, like all freedoms, this is not free ...
Were you there when My Savior hung on a Tree?
The psalmists and the poets, the singers ... know mysteries.
