Love goes with marriage
Like a horse with a carriage. . .
but what of the horse?
The horse may lead the carriage,
but often stumbles or dies.
What of the carriage?
It often falls apart or
gets stuck in a rut.
But how beautiful the horse
and the carriage that endure!

Having engaged in unlawful
Sexual intercourse
The hunter inflicted suffering
Upon my dissent.
Trained for rapid eye movement
He showcased with a violent temper
And in conversation
How it was for the purpose
Of my moral improvement
That in his chasuble
He designed to subdue me.
What an obscenity
To doubt the machinery
By which my chastity
Supports my collected bodies!
The gun carriage moved
Backwards and forwards.
The old world thrushes
chatted in "la Casula".
His discipline hastened
A yawning fissure.
The gorge that would
Breach the structure
Of our relations
With divergent opinions.
The chaser chassed in
Cheap chauvinism.
The change in this
Chattel's luster
Could be seen in a
Chatelaine's cat's eyes.
Apocopated celebrants
Gathered for the sacrifice
I could tell by the
Marked interruptions
Gapping the framework
Of our forlorn continuity.
It scared me so
That I was not trusted
To trust myself
Or my resultant suffix.
Castitas, intercourse
Or crying became informal.
I longed for the days
Before the chasm
When secured
In composed type
We were the receiving set
Of a mounting foundation.
Now an uninformed attendant,
A collection of various sections
I indulge in mild beverage
And still find no quenching
The deep cleft of my harmed surface.

Death's dark angel
Black carriage drives
Collecting lives
Final rewards
The carriage has
Matching horses
Pulling courses
All of them black
Death follows you
All of your life
Toil and strife
Can't escape Him
When it's their time
They all object
There's no respect
Everyone dies
Thanatos rides
The Banshees cry
Valkyries fly
None of them care

Verse
A horse drawn carriage is the way to go,
It’s all about relaxing and taking it slow;
The gentle rocking motion you feel,
To me it holds only the greatest appeal;
The scent of horse and leather in the air,
A gentle breeze, the wind in your hair;
The clipity-clop of hooves on the street,
No other transportation can compete!

Light Verse
When all the paying guests had gone,
I broke in there one Halloween.
I thought at first it was all fun,
Then realised just what I’d seen.
The noises, smells and awful sights
Had made my blood run cold with fear:
The mangled, tortured bodies dead,
But even worse was Webb’s cold leer.
He neared me, instruments in hand,
And told me what he planned to do:
Experiments to make me scream,
He’d even thought up something new.
I tried to run but couldn’t move,
So spat into the doctor’s face,
‘You’re dead, you have no power now.
‘Go back to Hell and leave this place.’
The victims’ bodies faded then,
I prayed and cried and shook with fright,
The knives and blood all vanished too,
And Harold Webb was gone from sight.

The adulterer and adulteress rode
In a gilded carriage, while horses strode
Many looked on with pride
Others hated the ride
Most of the world yawned in blasé mode
I had some thoughts when they said he was the leader of the Church Of England.

two McWhirtles
My cane has gone missing,
Hoveround showed up
of whom I sing praise for
supporting my girth.
I rise to stand strong on
two legs that are weakened,
and feel a bit useless,
retired sense of worth.
~~~
Not poppin' a wheelie,
not riding a coffin,
on legs somewhat worn out
my mind feels no dearth.
Not really a coward,
ashamed of my carriage.
I'm free-range, a chicken
a'hov'ring "my" earth.
Ol' Sea Snake's Carriage Ride
Cobblestones wobble and rock the carriage,
as I circle these streets with Blue Bits and
Derby Boy on this vibrant morning.
With the sun on my back and a salty gale brushing
by, my spirits soar as I imagine what the day will bring.
People come from all over to tour this city,
and soak up it's history and scenic views.
Why not climb aboard my carriage and take
a brisk ride with me on this beautiful day?
As we trot through the historic district, I'll
tell you some of our most scandalous folklores
and show you their shocking locations,
like Copper Moon Ridge, where pirates once
dressed as dames to steal their first good swig
of America's finest moonshine.
It's still pretty darn good!
You'll see the towering cliff views of our granite
lighthouse, whose menacing design has weathered
decades of the ocean's pounding tides.
We'll squeeze in time to feed the beached seals basking
in the sun or catch a rare glimpse of the orca whales
playing in our bay.
If romance is your desire, I'll tool you around in the moonlight,
to our brightest vistas that magnify the star's diamond twinkles.
...Perfect for capturing your lover's passion-heart.
I'll even take a long stroll, just to assure you of your privacy.
...Gentleman's honor, I won't take a peek!
If it's fish and chips you seek, we'll head over to
Smacky-Bud's Mackerel Shack for the tastiest fish around.
But I'll be up front with you, don't feed any to Derby n' Bits
or it'll be a long ride back.
So jump aboard and take a ride with this Ol' Sea Snake,
while there's still time.
I'm not getting any younger!
You day-trippers spend too much of your weekly grind
in your lackluster cars.
Come, sit back and unwind for a short time.
I'll sweep you back to the golden age of enchantment,
when hearts would mysteriously merge on a slow-trotting
carriage ride. Memories like these could last you a lifetime!
From this stark perch,
a great divide
from those who ride
with pinky raised.
Inured by wealth;
their lives unfazed,
quick glances glazed.
They see me not.
The carriage. The carriage keeps us safe and warm. As long as theirs coal and fire the steam engine won’t stop.
Look, we can make an escape. The woods over there offer freedom, it’s a chance we must take!
The carriage keeps us safe and warm. No point in facing anything where chance is the norm.
Look, we can jump in the river. Swim to that small island and prepare to live free.
The carriage keeps us safe and warm. No point in facing anything where worry is the norm!
Look, a bridge to a road where we can roam free! A chance and worry we must face to live free.
The carriage keeps us safe and warm. No point in facing anything where risk is the norm!
Look so many open green fields. We must run into the sun until we find what we need!
The carriage…
Carriage of soul
Wanders alone
In thought. The bone
From rails creaking.
Nightingale dips
To warble, sing.
Hymns on upswing
Drive soul afire.
Verse
Thousands of tiny diamonds glisten against black velvet as the sound of your voice enters
into my ear and settles in my soul.
Your lips are like silk and your embrace as comforting as rays of sun on a child's face.
I know that love is a risk and heart break is a heavy toll.
I've come to the end of love's rainbow and know that those previous pains your kiss will
erase.
Smile and show me your beauty.
Laugh and show me you need me.
Cry tears of pain and tears of happiness.
You've come out of the dark, no more loneliness.
I want you to whisk me away in an ivory carriage.
You're in black and I'm in white.
One day we will be together in a dedication called marriage.
I love you with my all, my heart, my might.
Two who are one together in love,
On a carriage road in the woods of Maine.
The day was filled with sunshine,
The air was cool and sweet.
It was a fine, wondrous spring day in Maine,
On an old carriage road
That wound through the woods of Acadia in the shadow of Cadillac,
As strong and enduring as the love of the two on it.
Two who had come to be together,
Sharing their joy and love with nature and each other.
Strolling slowly and deliberately,
Talking, laughing, remembering…
Enjoying each and every minute together,
In such beauty and wonder.
The old road wound up and ‘round,
The birds were singing and so were their hearts.
Colorful flowers were blooming like their love for each other.
Great trees were budding like the romance they shared.
And the insects were buzzing a happy tune – and biting too!
At a waterfall they stopped to kiss and watch, hand in hand,
Glistening water cascading over time worn rocks,
An endless stream like their love and life together,
Flowing softly, dancing blissfully onward into the future forever.
Lite as the cool spring air, they walked on side by side,
Winding up and ‘round through woods tall and green,
Over content little bridges and small streams gurgling, “Welcome”,
Past radiant flowers waving, “Hello” in the breeze.
Then ‘round a bend they went, arm in arm,
The old carriage road wound down and ‘round,
The wind whispered a quiet, “Goodbye, see you again sometime.”
They had come to the end of their little adventure,
But only on one carriage road.
There will be many other roads to share,
Just as sweet, exciting and wonderful,
As they travel together on their journey as husband and wife.
Their live together will always be,
As special, beautiful and full of love,
As their stroll one spring day,
In the woods of Maine,
Together, on a carriage road.
The horses stoop
when autumn blows,
snuffing echoes
of cheerful plains.
Wheels load frail boughs
down time’s remains
where carriage claims
all flowers, gone.
