Best Cant Poems
With accompaniment of rain, the tweets pour into my ear.
Saturation of sound, mottled bark and sodden moss.
Must be the downfall of civilization, heavens tears.
In God’s house, psalm’s blessing; outside, purging the dross.
Hues of watercolor diffuse, darkness rippling on wet canvas.
There is beauty in mankind, to read between lines of tension.
Push and pull of dripping thoughts, the undertow madness.
A leviathan of sin’s proportions, the levity and dimension.
You can’t escape the weather, its steady beat above the brow.
The sweat beads seeping, harrowing adventures of sound.
Inspecting inside and outside of self - what seeds to sow.
Don’t be too hard on yourself, though you nearly drowned.
Floating alone in a boat, the sea takes me on a journey.
It is dark and lonely, the slip and slide, the ebb and flow.
Comes walking on the water; appears, heaven’s attorney.
Suddenly I’m on dry land, head bowed, to my knees, I go.
Christ reigns. The closer we are to his gates, we long to serve
Him only, yet we still stomp in muddy puddles with bare feet.
We can hide our feet in socks, in rain boots, hide their curves.
The Lord washes feet, cleanses with His Word ‘til we’re complete.
Sorry its not you its me
Your perfect
Your everything that I want
I can see myself with you
I really can
Its just that I nolonger trust men
I want to be along
There's no such thing as love
Or trust
I like you I do
Its just I have trust issues
They think because im a man that i wont shed tears
They think im strong inside, but they cant see what i hide.
Its partially my fault, for wearing the phoney smile,
And all the while
I bleed out the hurt and pain
Again and again
They dont see me on my knees begging
Oh god please,
Take this madness all away,
How much does my heart have to pay
So many poor choices
So many condemning voices
They dont see me cry in my house at night,
With the blinds pulled tight,
Living out my existance,
Am i the only tormented one
The black sheep, the wayward son
Will the light of promise one day shine
Will i be blessed in Gods good time
Or is this my fate, my sad state
Yes they cant see,
They just cant see.
I found a picture of us
Tucked away in an old...dresser drawer
By the smiles on our faces, I’d guess
We both wanted more
Now to this day I say
I let you get away
And knowing that
Always gets me down
I can’t believe this old flame
Still hasn’t burned me down
There’s no smoke but there’s fire
A four alarm desire that don’t end...
Times has fanned the flame and it’s a shame
We’re still only friends
This internal inferno
Can’t be quenched but who’s to blame
I can’t believe this old flame
Hasn’t burned me down
If not for the wanting...I wonder
Would I keep hanging on...
We’re still living, so there’s a chance
To someday right this wrong
So as I sit and wonder
Wonder If we’ll ever have our day
Will the flame that we both carry
Be allowed to rage
I can’t believe this old flame
Still hasn’t burned me down....
It won’t stop until they lay me
6 feet in the ground
We can see by the pictures
They speak volumes... without sound
I can’t believe this old flame
Hasn’t burned me down
I can’t believe this old flame
Hasn’t burned me down
On the park bench where he met her
He placed one last rose
On the headstone beside her
Reads his name but the date’s unknown
If I were to guess
I’d say it won’t be long
Cause a man can’t live on memories alone
Once his Heaven is gone
His life turns to hell
From a home, to a house, to an empty jail cell
The pictures still hang
Now the smiles are postponed
Cause a man can’t live on memories alone
As the perfume from her pillow
Slowly fades away
His keystone of happiness
Crumbles more each day
The flowers not wilted
At the site of her grave
Got tossed in the hole
Just yesterday
Once his Heaven is gone
His life turns to hell
From a home, to a house, to an empty jail cell
The pictures still hang
Now the smiles are postponed
Cause a man can’t live on memories alone
Though teardrops are falling
Without a doubt I know he’d say
I love you dear I’ll be on my way....
Once his Heaven is gone
His life turns to hell
From a home, to a house, to an empty jail cell
A man can’t live on…memories alone
I live in a family
who can't keep an umbrella
a flashlight
flour
superglue
post its
ink cartridges
ice cubes
ice cream cones
who can't find
checkbooks
gift cards
phone cords
appt reminders
who never has
extra cash
maps
penny rolls
the doctors number
the date of surgery
a camera
so we're always
wet
hungry
cold
late
early
lost
behind
thirsty
You were gone
And yet now you return
Expecting it all to be the same
When for two months I was alone in the rain
You left not a note in the mail
Not a whisper in the wind
Not once did the telly ring
Now again your back
But im not with you jack
Your not mine any more
and you expect me to be yours
You were gone
All your letters burned
I said goodbye
With a tear in my eye
Now my heart is in two
Cause I wont go back to you
You can’t handle the truth…
And so you lash out in pain
You hurt and you maim
Innuendo, the game
Flaming, you flame
What a shame!
A SHAME!
You can’t handle the truth…
And so you fabricate lies
Dress up a pretty disguise
Compliment mesmerize
Word trophy prize
Not wise
Not wise!
You can’t handle the truth…
And so you implicate
With hints you sedate
Your conscience placate
Pride vindicate
It’s still hate
It’s HATE!
You can’t handle the truth…
So you write a small rhyme
You cover the crime
Throw around grime
Slippery slope slime
On heartache you climb
Not this time
NOT THIS TIME….

GOD Can’t You Change These Grandchildren?
GOD can’t you change these grandchildren?
You were there when they were born
You fed them
Changed their diapers
Followed them and their parents around the United States and some foreign countries
You studied with them
Went to school with them
Gave them money, praise, and love
And never a word of thanks
GOD can’t you change these grandchildren
They get on Facebook and Skype
Saying nobody has ever done anything for me
Did they give birth to themselves?
They didn’t have jobs, did they provide for themselves?
You bought prom dresses, caps and gowns, furniture, and paid fees
God can’t you change these grandchildren?
You pray for them
You offer them comfortable places to sleep
You try to show them how wonderful and valuable they are
And yet they don’t believe
GOD can’t you change these grandchildren?
You bought postage stamps for them so that they could write you
Not one letter did you receive
You sent invitations to celebrate and come and visit
They wanted you to pay for boyfriends and other kin
And now that they are adults that are full of rage and pain
How dare tell the world a lie
Nobody ever did anything for me
How dare they have babies and never bring them to visit
But when they need money here come the sob story
GOD can’t you change these grandchildren?
Love is unconditional; I really believe that’s true
So what about a phone call, a hit on Facebook, a text, a tweet?
An Instagram just to say I love you, or I’m fine, I’m okay
Post a picture or a happy birthday
I love you grandchildren
Maybe one day I’ll do something and you can stop saying and posting
Nobody ever did anything for me
Love GOD and your Grandmother
’t You Change These Grandchildren?
You can't buy my conscience
it worth more than a million
you can't buy my emotions
It is for my people.
I am for my people
Not for bribery and corruption
Which had feasted deep into the system.
I do not crave for foolish riches
Rather i work towards the success
Of my people who are dying silently in pain.
You can't buy me
And what i am made of
Through your sugar coated tongue.
I represent the image of the new birth
A new nation where honor and dignity abide
Where selfishness never exist
Rather love dwells day in day out.
i love to be remembered for good
Not for bad and ugly events
Where my children will not walk around freely
But as they go, they see the
Ugly fingers pointing at them for
Evils caused by their father
And wagging mouths accusing them wrongly .
So there fore, you can't buy me.
If you could see me now
You will know what I’m going through
because in your heart you know
I just can’t live with out you
My heart is hanging on a string
Holding on to my feeling tight
And it refuses to give up
Even thought its losing the fight
And there’s nothing that I can do
My life is over, completely doom
I wish I could tell that to the birds
That’s singing out side my bedroom
Flying about on the tree branches
Then up to the sky they flew
Not knowing it’s the last day of my life
Because I just can’t live without you
Life is beautiful all around us
Mother natures’ at its full beauty
The big bright yellow full moon
Shines across the land and see
Miles of jasmines are in bloom
Rainbows of red, yellow, green, blue
All goes together so beautifully
But still not as beautiful as you
I am hurting more than I can bear
And no one even have a single clue
That today I bid the world goodbye
Because I just cant live with out you
I poured my feeling in my poems
Trying to empty myself of the pain
But it just invites fresh emotions
Inside me to hurt all over again
It’s the first time I ever love someone
And my heart is now forever hers
And if I can’t be with her
Living my life with lost its cause
Love isn’t finding some one to live with
That is not what love is about
Love is finding some one
That you can’t live with out
Today I decided to take control
Of my life for once and for all
Will climb to highest tree
And let my lifeless body fall
My last words ill, be the name of the girl
When translated means a “picture “
And I will explain our love story
In a last hand written letter
Please don’t judge me for this action
I tried so very hard honest I do
But my whole world just fall apart
Because I cant live without you
Mother may god give you the strength
To cope with what I have done
But you have your sons and their children
To help ease the pain when I’m gone
Sizzling bacon on grill
Aroma is mouth watering
Forget about that iron will
Think of it without drooling
Smell the wonderful fresh roll
spread with butter what a treat
Waistline may take its toll
But the pleasure you cant beat
Fresh buttered roll, filled with bacon
Brown sauce as well oh yummy
Some people like an egg within
Anticipation is a rumbling tummy
Eat and Enjoy
You cant get rid of your shadow
Its always there on the wall
The movement of sunlight makes it flow
It dances whenever you call
It rises forever in the daybreak
Gripping every corners edge
Sets in the sundown of its wake
Finding us in every slope and ledge
We always look behind us
To catch a glimpse of its cover
But when we cant see there is no fuss
For in our hearts we know it will always hover
I've stolen every space where you stand
I'm inside your shadow lost in your hand
Take a step and I'm already there
Look now and see the reflection of my stare
Smothering you is my goal to achieve
I want you so bad I just cant let you breathe
I'll use every trick I have up my sleeve
I want you so bad I just cant let you breathe
I'll do anything to make you believe
I want you so bad I just cant let you breathe
Bite life and you will taste me
Travel the world and I'm the destiny
Start a sentence and Ill finish with you word
Listen to your heart and know I've already heard
Smothering you is my goal to achieve
I want you so bad I just cant let you breathe
I'll use every trick I have up my sleeve
I want you so bad I just cant let you breathe
I'll do anything to make you believe
I want you so bad I just cant let you breathe
Draw a picture and Ill be on your mind
Searching your soul and I'm there to find
We're one with time on any given date
You look for love and I'm waiting in fate
Smothering you is my goal to achieve
I want you so bad I just cant let you breathe
I'll use every trick I have up my sleeve
I want you so bad I just cant let you breathe
I'll do anything to make you believe
I want you so bad I just cant let you breathe
Canterbury Cathedral Cant
Cold silence
On that stony floor
No man or woman walks where he was killed
brother of your heart
Murdered by your careless slip of speech--
rash threat
Uttered by you-- brother of blood since childhood
Lifelong friend, Harry,
king -- raged a childish rage
brought your world crashing
murder plots by wife and children
you had no will to resist without him
you buried peace within his tomb
threw yourself face down and wept upon that place
blood and tears turned into stone
His blood never washed--nor your tears--
a thousand years away
David and Jonathan reborn
you werer
Bond that grips the spirit
Lives entangled in struggles beyond compare
mighty passions within mighty spirits raged
surpassing friendship lost
men equal
genius is inborn and not forgotten
it tears my heart
it tears my heart
Note: Thomas was Archbishop of Canterbury, Henry Tudor--his best friend, King of England. They were drinking buddies and lifelong best friends. In a rabid discussion over politics and theology--Henry stormed off muttering curses. In his bad temper he wished his best friend dead to be rid of the problem. two thugs took up the challenge---to gain a place of power--and they stabbed Thomas to death in the cathedral. The rest, as they say, is history. It was a tragic story of friendship lost and interesting to read about if you are so inclined.
