Palette In the Sky

Soft, pastel-pink, aqua, sepia
Turning sharp, gold, striking
The sky is a willing canvas
Waiting to be kissed
By the palette of colours
Multi-shaded layers dapple the heavens
The pace of life is set to slow
Announced by the sleepy, restful sun
Her dying rays cast playful shadows
Open to interpretation!
Liquid gold outlines the classic oak tree
So near, and yet so far!
The firefly dances with excitement
Her luminous tail aglow
And the songthrush folds down her wings
Relaxing in the still warm air
Soft peach clings to the buildings
While strong apricot dresses the windows
From liquid gold to burnt orange
Now a mauve sheet covers the horizon
The crisp silhouette of the tawny owl
Graces the evening magenta sky
And the crickets begin their shrill song
Heralding the arrival of the long, dark night
Seductive winking stars and the creamy moon
Commence their clandestine romance
Wildlife dare not relax
Predators lurk in the jet black ether!
Gradually, the backdrop loses its ebony
And the scenery takes on an intense cobalt blue
The gentle dawn is slowly approaching
The softest lilac bedecks a fresh morning sky
Irridescent speckles espied through the laurel bush
Dewdrops like glass drape the orchid
Reflecting the fiery citrus blanket above
Before turning warm, cheerful lemon
And powder soft azure blue
This kaleidoscopic carpet starts its journey
On a never-ending cycle of wonder

Winter Wonderland

Raindrops, God's tears for His creation,
When frozen, His jewels for decoration.
The hoare frost bedecks the trees,
A wonderland set in a frieze.
Driving out on wintry nights,
Sparkling jewels caught in headlights.
A spiders web is on display,
White with frost that passed that way.
A watery sunrise fails to melt away,
The winter wonderland that is today.

Premium Member Picture From Summer

High above the prairie grass and buds
I saunter to meet the close of day...
Nightingales echo their welcome song
As brocade of Summer's finery
Bedecks the canyons with moonstone hues.
My gaze is lost in this eve's marquee
Of auroral light that dances bright ;
Where rocky hills and jasmines parade
All aflame, beneath this single flow,
With ever breathless rhythm and glide.
Each creature pauses in tranquil awe—
I am just another soul enthralled
By this portrait designed on canvas,
As her primeval beauty is well drawn
Through splashed colors from night's fragrant heat!

Premium Member A Diamond In the Sky

It is the cold of winter blue
Ice wraps the edges of the night
A crown of stars bedecks the sky
Like twinkling diamonds bright

Morning breaks with slow footsteps
Still the heavens shine with light
But soon they fade into the day
A diamond's remnants now out of sight.....

Barbara Gorelick

Spring

Bathed in nectar dew drops, now
the damsel spring stealthily
tiptoes into the hamlet
with all its strength.

The south breeze plays
fifth symphony on tender new leaves,
flings the grey garment of fugitive winter
on the tether of time.
The red modesty of cassia flowers
lazily thrown on the elevations,
sheuli flower hides her whitish face
in dark screen.
Forest being released from solitary confinement
bedecks with colors of nature
snow white swans conquest the copper sky
Jasmine frequently haunts dark nights.

The sun rises
on the forehead of a newlywed bride
as if it is a circular spot of vermilion.
Man in remaining incognito
for years, has come back
to the war fields of life,
perhaps he wants to pay
his debts of soul.

Somebody, in quest of a blue envelope
tinted with multicolor of unknown flowers
but the letter box of young heart
wide open, as the darkness of suspicion
has broken its lock,
the love knots of past love
lost in the time treacherous sand
anxiously asks for identity.

Still on the debris of sand castle
built of hopes and promises,
a young poet composes a lyric
with inks of blood and shades of despair
his pen of eternal pain proclaims,
“Spring has set in again
to solace thousands of broken hearts.”

The Herbalist

The Herbalist:-

She deals with herbs,
She collects the rarest herbs,
She creates new drugs,
She burns the weeds,
She smokes weeds,
She bedecks her bun with flowers,
She allures us with bluish ferns,
She looks beautiful in each turn!!
She is the bewitching herbalist,
She lets me inhale wildflowers,
She exhales aromatic odor,
She reddens her lips with herbal color,
She heals me within an hour,
She entices me to have rain-shower,
She believes in her power,
I worship her endeavor,
She is my broodness healer!!
Her swift fingers collect saffrons,
Heer eyes recognize the ideal rhododendrons,
She collects honey seducing the bees,
She picks reddish maple leaves.
Her grinder crushes the limes,
She marinates herbs with jasmines,
She decors her hut with cones of pines,
I love the way her chants whine!!
She applies dark kohl around her eyes,
She wears a crescent nose-pin
She applies oil on her messy fringes,
I notice the tiny tattoo on her chin;
In descent manner her ankle-bells ring.
I know it’s a temporary fling,
Still, appearance of her lover makes my world spin.
She never ceases to surprise me,
She incredibly heals me,
Her presence makes me sane every time,
Her peaceful eyes appease me.
She is the ultimate healer,
She is my worry eraser,
She is the song of sparrow,
She is the sharpest arrow,
She’s blotted all my sorrows.

Looter Eclipse

1. Aztecs-black sun. The eternity of souls.
2. Five stages of an eclipse.
3.Total eclipse-3 minutes. Deep twilight.
4. The moon has a temporary crown (corona) that celebrates its victory.
5. Viewed from predestined location
6. A fated portent by the ancients.
7. A natural phenonoma in the present.
8. Next in north and South America, also Pacific in July 2019

 Looter Eclipse

When darkness turns the day to night
The triumphant moon bedecks its glittery crown
Feeding upon the ancients fear of doom and gloom
Their dread of harvests wrecked with troubled soul
A daytime moon that mocked their sacrificial rites
With cursed prediction for ill fated times ahead
Punished by the idols of the time
For some iniquitous crime to languish in dire Hades
Secured the time and place of modern solar eclipse
The throng awaits with polymer shades adorned
Amid a gleeful buzz of expectation
To view the phenomena of sun obscured
And loyally watch its five stages
When day becomes a dusky shade
In matter of fact observation
Ill portents dismissed and banished
They see the crown upon its lunar head
But not the sneak thief upon the ground
Who rifles pockets, loots their bags
The eclipse’s glory takes its place
And he escapes with all their booty
In portended fate of dire acclaim

Divine Calling

Beneath celestial heavens do I kneel
with crystalline gaze I look above
and to eternal glory I appeal
that be not denied divinely love

As our earthly home upon its axis
how can without love ones course be true
and the life we’re given that it taxes
so the colors of our lives within renew

A chance the wine of joy within the chalice
and smiles like those of angels do bestow
happiness bedecks our hearts just like a palace
the brightness in the eyes that ever glow

As night draws to day and its decree
this the only thing the pinnacle grand
and minds probing all with curiosity
to make bearable the life which in we stand

to that course forever and not to deviate
its purity rules universe and law
the testing of our metal and not its fate
where daily upon its strength we do draw

As myriad upon myriad of history shown
where shadows cast within our minds its doubt
and love its apex and wonders ever known
how children show us what that loves about

With stalwart hearts a man and maid
the beauty of the heavens share
become one and stand in shade
and life’s passions together wear

Oh divine thing and wondrous fair
that shines as bright as sun and star
how fallen from divinity so near
and its place of dwelling seems so far

Can’st thou within our hearts so clone
upon mankind its welcoming embrace
that dwellest it within our earthly home
and of its fragile mortality replace

Flaming Glorybower

Blackened. Charred.
Are the blossoms of autumn's acclaimed abundance
No longer dance they in vivid wonderance,
Singed by the frigid frost,
Stand they forlorn and lost.

Barren. Desolate.
Stand the trees.
Marooned in an island of dry leaves.
Wracked by glacial winds
As deep winter imprints.

A few brave bougainvillea
Struggle in straggly strands
To defy winter's hands.
Up they climb into yellowing leaves
Cobbling colour into the sheaves.

Unfazed. Undeterred.
By mutinous nature
Munificent flames the trailblazer...
Widespread flames in riotous red
Red riotous flames widespread.

An everlasting Christmas
Bedecks the shrub in richness
Bouquets of ruby crowned in gold
Amidst emerald and jade leaves untold
It is the flaming Glorybower.

Not for it the wheel of seasons
An evergreen...it blooms in legions
Symbolising life everlasting
Even in winter's fog and freezing...
Bringing red flaming glory to many a bower
For it is the flaming Glorybower.

Premium Member Portrait of Delight

The crimson sun rises glaring at balmy dawn,
burns the noon time sky to ashes of spring,
spreading on the visage of slate complexion,
sky bedecks with remains of flare untrimmed.

From the hazy horizon temperate winds blow,
transmitting transient lease to buds to unfurl
petals of possession with patina of sunburst hue
that falls through the trees on reverie of shade.

Southern zephyr ripples through twilight gold,
floating tinsel streaks on the threshold of dusk,
sprinkling colors on my mind’s blank canvas
for me to paint the portrait of eternal delight.

Through the tepid air dark grains of night fall,
wafting moondust dances on wave of ecstasy,
reaches with pearls of euphoria my dry shore,
as in scintillating rhapsody of heaven I immerse.
