Best Aversion Poems
I have an aversion to prejudice
Judging a pond without sampling its ice
Consorting with others eating large melons
Passersby judged as free men or felons
Women condemned as whores or harlots
While tormenting men turn the air scarlet
Then sit in the pews reserved for the saintly
Ogle the preacher’s wife ever so daintily
For judgement you see is a way to look down
On those, as they pass, on which you may frown
Knowing that god has made you superior
When in truth you couldn’t kiss their posterior
For consciousness doesn’t offer correction
Unless you can make a change of direction
That is, of course, dependent upon
How much of the ice you take from the pond
How do you compare to others
are you grateful for what you tend
is your life not what you imagined
is anger a childhood friend
Why tap the keys with bitterness
does illusion light your stage
what’s reflected in your mirror
how authentic is this play
Is perfection worth the measure
vulnerability for just the tame
are your sleepless nights no burden
do your blankets shroud the pain
Is defense the chosen weapon
is your quiver filled with woes
will you shoot those fiery arrows
till your tide ebbs to a close
Do you see what’s in the running
will tomorrow ever come
can you ascend to some contentment
or will energy succumb
Those doors slammed tight before you
could you bust them with embrace
alas, its life’s misjudgment
to forever lose the taste
I am not a heartless statue made of stone,
nor a marble sculpture that's never known
the sweet savor of a kiss upon parted lips
nor the sensual tracings of one's fingertips.
I'm not averse to desires for which I yearn
or to the ways to achieve them all in turn.
It's happiness I seek throughout this life,
not depriving myself with sadness and strife.
Desire is usually linked to sexual pleasure,
but I aspire to acquire beyond all measure
such mundane things, like a juicy red apple
without having to beg, borrow, or grapple.
It's not greedy to want my desires fulfilled
or instead of hot coffee, to prefer it chilled.
I'm much happier having a positive thought
than suffering the aversion of a broken heart.
I cannot condone feelings of dislike or hate
but I'm averse to things that I must berate...
death, war, and looking down upon others.
I'd nullify all of them if I had my druthers.
Antipathy can be detrimental to many desires.
It's water dousing the flames of my wildfires.
I prefer to follow a path of my own choosing,
one in which I'll find life much more amusing.
As long as my desires are kept under control
no one would dare label me 'villain' or 'troll.'
I cannot act on impulse, so no one is harmed.
From selfish greed, my mind will be disarmed.

It’s pure as fresh snow
and as pale as a ghost.
It’s the shade on the light spectrum
that I loathe the most.
A beluga whale, the milky moon
and the aftermath of bleach
and all my body’s hidden places
just out of the sun’s reach.
It lies on unlined paper
and rests on decaying bones.
On a virginal wedding dress
in the trash, it should be thrown.
A fluffy marshmallow,
billowy clouds and certain rice
just add them to the growing list
of the hue that fails to entice.
I can’t stress this sentiment enough
this tint is truly beastly.
On baby powder, salt, and mayo,
the color white is not for me.
*I wrote this poem on April 6, 2021, as part of a ’30 days of poetry’ challenge. This was day 6 and the prompt was: Write a poem inspired by a color. It’s pretty obvious what color I choose from reading my poem, but if you are still stumped after you finish, reread the last line. Thanks, and as always, leave me some love.
Under the scorching blaze of the craving sun
The desiccated life suffering forsaken parched
Searches for a wayside tree of gratification
To provide the satisfying shade of success.
The fulfillment of deep desire of irresistible love
I irresistibly desire from the core of my heart
Subsumes seamlessly the passionate hedonism
That takes me to the ambit of enticing impulse.
Chasing mirage on dwindling dunes of despair
Hope lost of taking life to the illusion of oasis
As sand storm of setback brews in the horizon
I enter the awareness realm to surpass crave.
The insight restrains the demanding dreams
Lest these plunge to languish in life’s abyss
Push the self to the destructive domain of fear
At the disappearing edge of the ebbing hopes.
My mind then develops special skill of courage
Cultivates aspirant ability to evade the urge
Repulsion frees me from the bond of attraction
As I feel aversion sprout from the seed of desire.

Like diverse partners in a romantic tango
Ebbing and flowing through intricate steps,
Daily we wrestle with desire and aversion
Working in tandem contradictory concepts.
Wanting that which often repels our senses
Hedonistic pleasures do assault our mind,
Making us lust for things that are forbidden
Ethical compromises are so difficult to find.
The dancers separate and come together
In a delicate pattern that pleases the eye,
Achieving the pleasantry highly esteemed
A balance of life’s tenors we instinctively try.

The cacophonous din of troubled minds,
intrudes rudely into our sacred space
and momentarily tranquil eye blinds,
although we soon recover, by God’s grace,
choosing to release the toxic embrace.
Perhaps the immersion is but a test,
brought forth by the universe in light jest
but be that as it may, we soon restore
vibrance of presence, which is by God blessed,
for we ride the boat, He Himself does oar.
Myriad objects
Thoughts included
Appear and disappear
Some attract, others repel
Ol hermit, what do we hold dear?

Both desire and aversion,
cast on soul’s light aspersion,
egoic thought spirals of doom
allowing not bliss to zoom.
Habits we form, an anchor,
manifesting as rancour,
contracting joy in our heart,
till expectations depart.
Let interruptions delight,
for we see now by clear sight,
that earth life is but a test,
where love doth rise and fears rest.

I mave thought on the possibilty of two of the
Main world 'religious systems' merging namely
Into a cristio-islamic entity..This would i see
Bring the action of be-heading humans used in
Certain islamic groups possibly. ? Into any creed
That might be manufactured.? I am loath to
Put this out, as I do not wish to see such an
abomination exist, this has been on my mind for
Twenty years ? I am posting this only as a warning
And to discharge any duty to God that I may not be
Aware of being only human.' God bless all around
Who will accept such.'
For personal addiction, I'm aware
Dealing with my desires, I must beware...
Such are arenas for daily conquest
Putting faith to test amidst chosen best.
Sweet desserts please my tongue, I do confess
Yet, flesh loathes to gain weight in the process…
Discipline for well-being should prevail
That I need to practice, though sometimes fail.
To honesty and truth, my mind does cleave
From hypocrisy or deceit, I leave
In so fulfilling, I struggle in pain
As heart trusts the Lord for blest pardon-gain.
With passion for perfection-striving deed
Versus vexation against error-breed
My soul admits human weakness and flaw
While thriving in peace, learning from guilt’s claw.
Conscious of carnal and divine nature*
My spirit seeks to live as new creature
In Christ, quickened by His grace, mercy, love
Doing God’s will, sharing gift from above.
*2Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Like two-sides of the same-coin are desire and aversion,
In daily psychic chores they are whole heart-mind immersion;
Desire is cause of all sufferings - Gautam Buddha claimed,
Aversion involves heart and mind too; both should be well-tamed...!
Charming blooms, guileless creatures and colorful-scenes attract,
From glooms and pains and sufferings human heart does detract;
Feelings of facts and fancies should go ever hand in hand,
Doesn't an oasis sooth us from scorching desert sand...?
Happiness, sadness, fear, anger, surprise and some disgust,
Should be integral part of beings like love, hope and trust;
Emotional equilibrium is like flesh-and-blood,
Lack of one leaves the body as though under-nourished bud...!
Prayer, pondering and optimism keep beings healthy,
Coherence and humility leaves inner spheres wealthy;
Right thought, word, action, contemplation and selfless service,
And detachment can clench one's entire existence at ease...!

desire and aversion
exist together
as part of the universal all-that-is
opposites purposely attract
the constant push and pull
of attraction and repulsion
demands we look higher within
to find the middle ground
of neutrality and observation
at the zero
point
this is where truth inevitably lies
and soul growth occurs

Assigning labels, good or bad to thought,
misses the point about cause and effect,
arising in ether, as desires brought,
manifest here and now, what we detect,
each wave in its right, divinely perfect.
Likes or dislikes, to portions of our dream,
an anchorage to images that so stream,
stemming from ego association;
trying to seize a specific sunbeam,
our attachment thus cause of stagnation.
