Desire and Aversion

Like diverse partners in a romantic tango Ebbing and flowing through intricate steps, Daily we wrestle with desire and aversion Working in tandem contradictory concepts. Wanting that which often repels our senses Hedonistic pleasures do assault our mind, Making us lust for things that are forbidden Ethical compromises are so difficult to find. The dancers separate and come together In a delicate pattern that pleases the eye, Achieving the pleasantry highly esteemed A balance of life’s tenors we instinctively try.

Very insightful, Milton, with multiple applications to the human condition. To paraphrase the apostle Paul: 'What I wish to do I don't, what I don't wish to do I do. Miserable man that I am.' / Maurice

Thanks, Maurice. The apostle was so right, and I find myself in that predicament from time to time.

I like this Milt. the dance is a great metaphor, as you say below. "...separate and come together" - desire and aversion. Just perfect all around! Linda

Ebbing and flowing through intricate steps, poetry in motion about our "Desire and Aversions." as we dance through life. A fav for me, Milt. Good luck in the Contest.

Aw, thank you so much, Shirley. I was afraid no one could relate the metaphor with the theme. You did. I appreciate your kind remarks and the FAVE, indeed.
