Best Adolescence Poems
bursts of laughter
in the playground
where the inner child
of grandparents on a high
ignores age restrictions
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Purple flowers of my
adolescence
Gone now - gone forever
Outside my window
young girls play hopscotch
Taxis whizz by
Young lovers embrace
Getting lost in the humming metoroplis
is a good way to eliminate angst
The biblical three score and ten years
is not that felxible
Purple flowers of my adolescense
Gone now - gone foerver
Still I see images of them at times
in the eyes of certain strangers
‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘ ‘’’’’’’
Angular hips now more round than grapes
grieving a little for new voice whispered,
swells of flesh curved in plumper shapes
while the flow of monthly arrival lingered
Almond eyes grew sultry deepening hue
baby powder blending into lavender spray
this crossover of rebellion I harshly knew,
awkwardly choosing between truth or dare-play.
Then, nights gazed at sandals of childhood seas
toes raking, confused about dissent down path;
a ruffled star finding myself sliced by cold trees
as Mom screeched at moody blues ready to hatch
My mind felt strange; Dad became a fading hero
questioning him with glares longer than steam,
rude awakenings cracked fears, tears stuck at zero
with ripening bosoms; this turning point at thirteen
Struggling for identity bloomed in freshman year
when tresses climbed on stairs of clumsy romance
beguiled by some hunger in my bones, a blushed cheer;
exalting the senses, a lady-in-waiting for her first dance.

For Frank Herrera: Coming of Age
By nette onclaud
One day, the boy becomes a man
When it happens he hardly knows,
It seems to have been a noble plan
Some say that’s just how it goes.
For oft he’d heard, “Boy, grow up!”
Followed by this, “Act like a man!”
First, he noticed a strange hiccup
Then, he sounded like a frogman.
He outgrew all of his favorite jeans.
They said he was all legs and arms
Fast approaching his middle teens
Other signs set off anxious alarms.
He began formulating his life plan
And making decisions on his own,
He becomes certain that he’s a man
When he takes out his first car loan.

We are taught not to like ourselves,
from a young age
it is a shame to know you are beautiful,
yet beauty is in everyone,
why can't we see that,
see our worth,
without seeking validation from others.
one day you will shout it from the rooftops
you are beautiful.
after years of not feeling worthy,
you will realise you are.
Adolescence
Tough time
Up And Down
Like a thrill ride
Teenager
Dreams,
desires,
bitter sweet-
with poignant first
love.
I'm not old enough to drive yet
Not old enough to drink
Not old enough for lotto
But old enough to stink
I'm at that in between age
Where nothing is quite right
When boys and drugs and alcohol
Have entered in my sight
I wonder where I'm going
I wish that I could stay
But my life continues advancing
Day by day by day
The days are long,
Everything is new,
Love’s took for granted,
And death has yet to brush against you.
A hasty glance and still my heart leaped up
as ever to burst thrills within my breast.
If I knew more on the ways of romance,
I might not excite like some dizzy pup.
Just staring at his house excites love dreams.
I walk away from his home in love’s trance,
lost in the sweetest fantasy soared flames
and love schemes gleam in my heart streams.
I look for him on each sidewalk I pass,
in each of our town's retail window frames,
in any restaurant where I might sup
and I seek four leaf clover’s help in grass.
If one day he would turn and notice me,
he would see all the ways our souls agree,
he would know I am his heart’s appointee
and, I know, his would burst a ‘whoopee.’

(written for contest)
Away...
Spot her from far.
Have a tingle mingle all over your skin.
Award your forehead a scratch
As you do the arduous estimations
Of the remaining catwalk steps
Before her beauty kisses your eyes.
Let sanity flee from your mind.
(That's OK.Never mind.
Angels are never meant
For sane minds)
Coming your way...
Prepare to talk to her
Practise how to greet her
Whisper to yourself a greeting
Whose sweetness tricks
Your zygomaticus muscle
Into a seductive smile.
Then bite your lower lip alluringly
As the best Romeo and Juliet scene
Overwhelms the whole of you.
Enjoy the roller-coaster feeling
Of a heart that forgets its own rhythm.
A few minutes away...
To get on top of your muddled up feelings
And wake up the confidence demon
Wave your head in a 'NO' manner.
Grab a gorgeous gazale gaze of her.
Don't allow the jealous of a blink
To spoil this monumental moment.
Sink your nervousness deep
Inside the well of sighs.
Cast a blind eye on the people's eyes
Or acknowledge them as your cheerleaders.
It's about time...
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Elevate your hands like a clergyman in prayer
Just to inspect the odour of your exhaled air
That will transport your practiced greeting.
Regulate your lungs to spray your Rose
With nothing but the fragrance of roses.
It's time now...
Exactly when she gets near
Cockily say, 'Good morning, Madam.'
Immediately after the words slip
Away from the tip of your lip,
Remember that, 'Afternoon'
Is almost embarking on her sleep
And that the Madam title is ...
Cover your mouth instantly
As if trying to capture back the awakward greeting
Fancy the way she disguises
Her guffaws as a smile-
Revealing her pretty dimples
Concealed in the soft flesh of her cheeks
Almost...
Observe her as she catwalks it away
Leaving you dumbstricken all the way
Listen until her footsteps die away
Start scratching your backhead right away
Wondering which spell she used
To transmute your 'Hey Pretty Lady'
Into a 'Good morning, Madam'
During such perceivable old noon hours!
Blame yourself the whole day.
Tighten your fist like Muhammad Ali
Preparing to release his Sunday punch.
Then with a suppressed sigh sadly say:
TOMORROW will be a better day!
Tomorrow...
Amidst the cacophony of raging emotions
In a nexus of conflicting passions
Lies a beguiled soul
He is embedded in a labyrinth of racing thoughts
And interlocking fears
He investigates his surroundings
While a sinking sensation grips him
Immobile in feeling
He plots his course
Frozen in indecision
Trying out different personas
He reaches invisibility
As he grasps to others for direction
Becoming as lost as ever
When will the conflict end?
When will stability be attained?
He thrashes around in the cage of his existence
Finding a spot to land on
Arriving nowhere
He cradles himself in a bubble
Peering out from the chains he’s strapped in
Hoping for a beam of sunshine to pierce through
One day the solution will come
And things will regain their meaning
Until then, he’ll remain with the entanglement that is now referred to as existence…

Word: Adolescence
If
I am
no longer
here, I want you
to smile for me.
Go and experience
life and everything else that
you could possibly imagine.
Drink merrily, love faithfully, and
most importantly, please live happily.
Take what I’ve taught you with a grain of salt,
Make a dish that savours your life.
With that murmur of time,
that first sound, that I still
remember, continue
walking through life.
Know that I’ll
be with
you.
A lot of praise and admiration,
Kisses
on my forehead
pecks
on my cheeks
I got when I was a wind-bud of innocence
one by one the drops of rain
blown away
by the bankrupt wind
the full pant
drew a lot of curiosity and criticism
: when
I was looking at the watch
it laughed ,
the tide lashed out ,
now I find myself thrown out
under crook and clumsy seductive adolescence.
Head down
Straight paths turn into snakes ,
inhale
venoms in the air
the taste of my senses turned sour
unknown pricks
the soul is heavy and restless ,
The world appears suffocated ruthless.
Now and then
, sentiments creep in ,
cool like hot wind blowing around
,I do not know how to warm my heart
and cool my mind,
easy life becomes hard, thinking gone absurd,
depth less burning, calm less itching titillation
insatiable desire, and unreal imagination,
fear-guilty-under morality-frozen blood
Reason-logic floats tumultuous overturn
vessels in the flood,
volcanic eruption crave quivering,
crazy emotions all are thrilling!
How to cope,
where to turn,
is easy life forever gone?
