When Should I Smile?
Smile, they say. It will help break the ice.
Smile, they say. It does not cost anything.
Smile, they say, it will help fix everything.
So, why should I smile?
To show that I am not sad?
To make you feel less bad?
To forget my anger?
I don't think so.
I will smile when I want to.
I will smile when I need to.
I will smile when I feel like.
I will smile....for me!

Like a bird in ocean blue,
Like a butterfly’s fluttering hue,
Or a kite wandering high,
Like dandelions in their drifting sigh.
Like the wind whispering wild,
Like ripples gliding soft and mild,
Or washing flowing on the line,
Like clouds reclining, all sublime.
Like a mountain’s steadfast stance,
Like the leaves in rhythmic dance,
Or trickling, trickling, fleeting rain,
Like a horse’s galloping mane.
Like the roar from a lion’s cage,
Like the words pouring from this page—
Happy, confident, radiant me,
I’m free, I’m free, so free to be me!
there is greatness in being yourself
delight in knowing what sooths you
who inspires you, what challenges you
there is beauty in being your own best friend
in figuring out what you need today
and what you needed yesterday
there is no one more appealing
or more enthusiastic
than a person who
is their ultimate joyful self
so get to know you
revere yourself
find something to love
be passionate and excited about something
do not expect anyone to live your life for you
or to tell you how to live
only you knows you
We want the same and fear the change,
yet all the while we just complain
of everything single thing under the sun.
I’ve heard it is a general rule,
that man is nothing but a fool
because he never wants the prize he’s won.
And yeah, it is the same with me,
I live in discontent you see.
I never seem to find a place to rest.
I’ve searched to find some middle ground
between the destiny I’m bound
and what I need to change to be my best.
But what I find gets in the way,
and everyone most every day
does not see me the way I see myself.
So, each time that I’m fine with me,
they wish that someone else I’d be.
I end up putting me back the shelf.
But now the time has finally come
where being someone else is done.
It’s time to just let go and let it be.
Cuz I can’t take another day
of letting things go on this way.
It’s time to see what comes...
if I am me.
What is normal?
I have skin, eyes to see, a nose to smell, a mouth to eat, ears to hear the songs I love.
Normal but feel like extraterrestrials from above.
I yearn to travel to places I have never seen.
Will I feel normal when I go across sea?
I understand people more than most.
Because of that I observe and seem invisible like I'm a ghost.
I dress pretty normal for a lady.
Put mismatching socks slouchy hat maybe.
My eyes are big, honest, and kind.
Maybe normal isn't a thing I can find.
Unique as I am is beautiful too.
At least I'm genuine, yes it's true.
I love chasing sunsets like a gypsy.
Nature calls making me shifty.
I see through people and know their heart.
I'm sensitive not normal and accepting myself is a start.
I'm creative, an artist, a writer, a poet.
At least I am me and I know it.
It's like a noose around my neck
Strapped in a splintered chair
Cast in plaster, stuck like glue
Can't move anywhere
Strangled with monotony
Drowning in routine
Round and round this hamster wheel
A banal race machine
I want to take a hammer
Raise it in the air
Smash this plaster, free myself
Breathe in my own air
Want to cut these straps that bind me
Unstick this binding glue
Remove this noose that holds me still
And get away from you.
I'm summoning my courage
I need to break away
Fight the stark complacency
That holds my soul at bay.
I do not compromise of who I am
I am what I am
Lend me your ears
I will tell you more
The journey is not easy
Its done with easy
Open your eyes
You will see the stars
The tales that are bottled inside
Are waiting to be told
Open your month
Say what you feel
Don't let me see you through someone else
Please let me see you through yourself
Don't be someone else
Please, just be yourself
If I have to be selfish in my life
At least I'll do it for a good reason
It's because seeing you is my happiness
For your presence fills my emptiness
