Ampersands Poems

Ampersands

Ampersands

When ampersands take headache tablets they
find the real meaning of
sound waves.

There was trouble written all over her
like a treasure map, gold buried deep
between the missing ampersands
where to begin,

X marks the spot

Y chromosones
like quicksand YX
rolled up, a necessary
reoccurring addiction
sage smoked slowly

then fed to the sharks

gold buried deep
between the missing
ampersands
the better treasure
hidden

XX marks the spot

Words

Ordinary thoughts of standard diction
Embellish themselves inciting friction
Words give understanding for how I feel
To give a 3D image, to sense the unreal.

Hyponyms to idioms, romantic collective nouns
Superlative adverbs widely used to counteract a frown
Imaginative ampersands symbolic of the time
Emphatic forms of rhetoric, devilishly rhyme.

Words remain our lifeblood, progressive and alive
To articulate emotion, a metaphoric drive
So appreciate the syllables and annunciate the prose
Give thanks to the words our language grows and grows.

Premium MemberI Turn You Into Poems

In fact, at first,
By fiction’s thirst,
To thrust my sight in curse,
‘Tween nurse and verse,
For better, for worse,
At least I can rehearse.

Before the former:
A stench in fallacy’s flame,
Neurosis is but a game.
After all the latter’s the same:
Whether I meld or maim.

When the flames engulf my hands,
Lit parchment sparks my pineal gland.
Answers to question beg ampersands,
To slither out tricks per mind’s demand.

Whether or not, why I live,
I used to care to give,
Thoughts to sands and shaken sieve:
I think them too determinative.

Beyond a child’s belief,
Who knew them for their fief,
And in relief I saw the grief,
Of a diocesan thief.

So then what is it, we should think?
Too many wrote it in faded ink,
Idolatry failed in me to sync,
Whose world their tales just shrink.

So I turned them into story,
They whose nouns feign glory,
With capitals wrote by signatories,
Gave pardon for the gory.

And then I turned it into poem,
To the Devil: I’d have to show him,
To a God: who lives in hymn,
Alone, and written in a whim.

Literalness of the Prairie

Literalness Of The Prairie

Those that cannot remember the past -
are often run over by it for nothing lasts.
The truck may
Be driven
By a unicorn.
Even ignorance
on some day will lapses.

There is always a dead Greek philosopher
 to tell you the river
you soak your feet in
 is always different.

As a honey badger
Finds His way
Inside The refrigerator
Where you let
Your images cool.
Link sausage chants within the pan
The lines of kings

The dream
Was sleek
A machine
That spilled
Poems
On the mercats
Below in the footnotes
Reconstruct the lines
& scurry like the edge
of self-fulfilling prophecies.

Just storms of mercy forms
damp hyphens
& ampersands
combine the trouble couplets
And beat of stanzas over Kansas
 & Find their way back-
From the literalness of the prairie

Limerick: Once a fierce Samurai from Xi Ban Guo

Once a fierce Samurai from Xi Ban Guo
Displayed his sword-play in a tornado
But his sword slipped hands
And entered his ampersands*
So now he limps about incognito.

Reciprocal

Mitosis
movements
wrap together in
pulsing conduits
of vibrant vigor
to nudge
the prod of
creation

until all
division lines
fold down to
ampersands
welcoming
liberated
hands
operating
in unison

despite all
individualistic
instincts sordidly
hoarding for
dominion of
identity

denying
the swirling
dependencies
holding all
bodies in
godly
orbit.
