You remind me of Autumn
your simple grace
can be compared to a rosebud
falling in the wind.
I was blessed by your presence
the soft tone of your form
as you brushed against me
moving flirtatiously, subtly.
Your scent lingers on my mind
and your sudden touch of kindness
pulled me, strongly attracted
I gazed into your almond-shaped eyes.
I think of you incessantly
here at your mercy
your beauty titillates me
tantalizing my thoughts.
I saw you last week
passing your way, I spoke
you replied but seemed shy
or was I the one speechless?
How could I communicate
make visual my appeal
centered around you
you are sweet like a sunflower.
Light morena, your skin color
your face is clear with luster
as the full orb moon
against a blue twilight sky.
I wish I could tell you
how you remind me of Autumn
your simple grace
I compare to a rosebud.

Almond-shaped, blue-green eyes,
Had more than their fair share of cries
What is she doing by herself?
Freckled cheeks, dimples too,
A smile no one seems to see through
Why isn’t she asking for help?
Desdemona
What are you still doing here?
Desdemona
You’re closer to the edge than you appear
Loves too much, loves too sure,
Loves more than can be safe for her
What is she doing by herself?
Reckless love, blind to abuse
A plot device those men can use
Why isn’t she asking for help?
Desdemona
You can’t live your life afraid of fear
Desdemona
You’re closer to the edge than you appear

If only I could see.
I see who I think I am and yet it different then how you see me.
If only I could see.
I see all the things I’ve done wrong yet I can never see all the accomplishments I’ve had.
If only I could see.
I see the flaws when it come to the chocolate coloring of my skin but I never see the beautiful freckles sprinkled across my chest or my almond shaped eyes holding endless brown depths.
If only I could see.
The sad things is that I do see me, I just choose to ignore it

Kitten that I love
He is awesome and pretty.
Has almond shaped eyes
And has four nocturnal feet
To prowl with he stalks running

You started out in life just like me
hanging around in hand-me-downs
from your family
Some were nice, like
your daddy's dimples when you smile
or your mama's almond shaped eyes
While others were unfortunate
like your grandma's testy temper
or your uncle Earl's ears
But not all of these
hand-me-downs
are permanent
Some you will hopefully
change out of and
replace as you get older...
Like others' unhealthy attitudes
unhelpful coping mechanisms
uneducated assumptions
about other people
or the world at large
Your perspective
how you choose to see the world
is as changeable as a pair
of cheap sunglasses
so if they ever
hinder your view- toss them out!
And get some new
glasses that fully fit
in a style that expresses
the person you truly want to
become

Her brown eyes dance with her feet,
swaying across the dance floor with a beat,
a beauty with almond-shaped eyes,
snapping and flirting giving men sighs
who want to dance with the lovely miss,
dreaming to hold on tightly and desire a kiss,
waltzing from one partner to another,
teasing each with delight and not to smother,
a blithe spirit who flies as if a butterfly,
stopping to catch special nectar on the sly.

It’s almost midnight; crimson turns to dust,
cerulean skies have dimmed into smoke-
Ashes of roses are laid out for lust,
as her porcelain skin, I start to stroke.
I draw a charcoal etching of her curves,
she poses in an ivory laced gown-
All of her soft love for me she preserves,
laying her perfect and graceful head down.
Longing thirst prevails with her by my side,
her almond shaped absinthe eyes are so deep-
In my touch, I pray that she will confide,
for in this obsidian night we’ll sleep.
I’m so grateful true love gave me a chance,
it’s a night of passion...midnight romance.

AN EMOTIONAL TREE
The gust came like punches.
one of those arresting, blustery blows.
It was like a giant stood behind that tree
cupping his hands over his mouth
blew as hard as he could.
Without mercy
blood shot almond-shaped leaves.
stood frozen
then making their slow, deliberative dance
toward the asphalt below
where they lay silently without notice
and a heart breaks.

I love being me
I love being me for so many reason
I'm my own pure drug
My brown sugar skin is more pure
The the finest kilo of coke
I love being my
From my high native American cheek bones
Down to long wavy hair
I love being me because with all
My war wounds I have and all
Them battles I fought lost some and won some
I still stayed strong like my father taught me how
I love being me with my roasted almond shaped eyes and my full lips
When I look In the mirror I see that goodness royalty that my father
Always told me I was
I love being me my soul is full with ambition
Like the fastest kid in the back of
The class eating little debbie chocolate cakes
I love being me I couldn't see me being anyone else but me
I love being me 5'3 and all
I love being me waking up drunk
Off my own aura

Written for my wonderful daughter,
Ella Rose who is the love of my life.
For she's my itty bitty precious rose,
So delicate with a distinct written prose.
She's everything I hoped she'd become,
A little sassy girl and sorta high strung.
Peaches on a pie with a cherry on top,
So sweet and silly always going non-stop.
A beauty mark on her upper right cheek,
And a china doll when she falls asleep.
All the boys out there aren't good enough,
Her daddy thinks there's no one to trust.
Absolute daddy's petite little angel,
See my Ella is so precisely faithful.
Big almond shaped deep brown eyes,
I love her to and from Heaven's bright skies.

From a distance what I saw
in a Down Syndrome child
was a human in the raw—
forgettable, lamentable, wild.
My prejudice was abhorrent
dismissing a "different" being.
Disdain came in a torrent
driven by cold-eyed seeing.
Then came a close-up look
at a new grandson in my arms.
My bias I forthwith forsook
lost in his extra-gene charms.
Almond-shaped eyes, short fingers
flat nose—those one observes.
But the trait that ever lingers
is a smile an angel deserves.
The sight remodels the mind,
assures that nothing is awry.
Anything like it you won't find
regardless of how hard you try.
From a distance what we see
is often not what we suppose.
The virtues of human intimacy
universal truths ultimately disclose.

Gay for a Day
A beautiful young man sat in the bus shelter,
he had brown almond shaped eyes and rosy lips.
His chins like peach, aglow by his youth.
I also noticed had long eyelashes and hands of
a musician. Close together my hand touched his
hand and he didn’t withdraw it. He said he was
going to his aunt’s cottage, she was away and he
had the whole house for himself.
He spoke with a cultured modulated voice and
my poor heart fluttered. I wanted to hold his hand
kiss his eyes and stroke his chin, but dared not.
His bus came he got up we shook hands and that
was the last I saw of him. And thought, I have been
gay for a day and didn’t feel guilty about it.

I tried to paint you,
like they did the Mona Lisa.
But the pain in your eyes
was far too real.
Almond shaped wells of tears.
I tried to paint you,
but the colors on my palette failed me
like they always do.
I only think of you in shapes and shades that never dared to exist.
I walked the line and tried to
change you,
re-arrange you,
soften your edges,
and remove the smudges.
But even Dorian Gray gave me the stink-eye from his frame.
Who could dare and paint you?
Interpret your dimensions..
Sketch your subtle movements..
Measure the limits at which
your world expands..
Speculate the details
on the back of your hands..
Who could ever dare to pick up a brush
and paint the world?
Paint it as it disguises itself as the sun
The sun that watches you
from a window-pane
While your sleepy eyes close and open
in a thousand ways.
I tried to paint you
Frame you
But all that is left of these attempts
are empty canvases
hung on the walls in my head.

Her eyes captured
Angels flew by
Persuading my soul
Almond shaped
Delicately demure
My heart gasped
Seductively lost
Breaching my spirit
She fulfilled my passion.
