Why I Write
Poetry is my life breath...
it is writing that gives me wings...
it gives added zest to my life..!
When a flood of feelings swell and heave in my heart,
umpteen emotions of love, elation and gloom ,
heart break and excitement, tumble down one on other
Writing makes me feel like an explorer
as I make a journey into the hidden recesses of my heart
and say what I can never say face to face
unconfined, unhinged, foolish and footloose
Sometimes I just scribble words after words
searching for coherence and meaning
digging deep into my muddled thoughts.
sometimes words gush out in torrential flow
sometimes they burrow into nothingness
I read through, dissect, add and alter
until I feel everything fits into place
in my poems memories rise and fade
dance on butterfly wings looking for floral cups
escorting me to the land of fairies and magical kingdoms.
I weave the silken tapestry of life in verse,
pen down mysterious tales of love,
romance, victory and defeat
I often lose myself in nature’s sublime glory
perceived in jumping cataracts,
clouds lazily floating in the aquamarine sky,
autumn leaves and all that tickles my fancy.
When these scenes fuel my imagination,
my pen moves and I write for myself,
touching and vibrating the sinews of my heart
If you wish to course through my verse,
happy I am and my poems are open for you.
if you have ears, listen to my lilting trills.
but please let them not be lost in the caverns of darkness
or thrown back as echoes to die out in impenetrable wilderness!
