Notes About The Poem

Who But God

Who but God could paint the evening sky
And use a brush that is a fiery torch?
Tonight, the garish sunset makes me high
In awe, I stand and watch it from my porch

Who but God could make the insects sing?
Cicadas droning on with their night song
Still better yet, to sing with legs and wings
Tonight, their cousin crickets sing along

Who but God could hang the moon and stars?
Each star a wish, the moon a silent friend
To light our nights as we live our memoirs
To pull the tides and push them back again

And yet, I understand, some don't believe
Who but God can grant them their reprieve?

When read this poem brings to me a feeling of raising that question within myself. Who but God? If a God is in the belief of ones self than it is up to us to believe in that strength given. A beautiful Sonnet that brings faithful thoughts!

There are so many things in this universe that science alone cannot account for and can only be attributed to the Divine Creator! This beautiful piece is such a magnificent tribute to the works and wonders of our God! Best wishes and hugs. Pandita

Daniel, I see what you see most nights, but I lack the eloquence to put it so poetically. We do indeed have an awesome God. He is indescribable. God Bless. D.

Do you remember Nat Turner in American history? Who alone should we leave, when right information want to receive, that will be good and we won't grieve, so wrote another poem for you to retrieve. Jim Horn

Amen, I do second the previous comment, wondrously penned. If you look at a few of my nature poems; you will see like mind. I guess considered, one Spirit above. Also take a little time and my website my brother, as the Lord has given me. www.jesuschristvisitation.net and the book, "Jesus Christ the Messiah Visitation: Nature and Bible Poems." Be blessed and God Bless and be even more Blessed. Amen

Wonderful pen Danny, you rightly gave God the credit, strange how many people live by his grace and are either ignorant of him, or unthankful, so sad either way. Congrats on another POTD, very worthy choice!

Dan, you are a master of the painted word. What a beautiful and sublime take on the hand of the Lord. I wish I had your brush...if only to be half as good as this. Great job! Please continue to regale us with your insightful work.

When our force is leaving us and we're slowing down then we often understand there something much mightier than us. Call it God or call it the superhuman force, we do realise its existence. Great write friend, congrats on POTD.
