I am waiting… Should I take that leap of faith or push the panic button? I am pretty sure if I choose the latter no one will even notice. Stress has me in a suffocating breathing pattern, taking shallow breaths in an endless polluted sky. I am in a pool of people also searching to escape, arms flapping to keep from going under again. Drowing, yet not being quite sure I want a lifeline tossed my way. Darkness doesn’t always show up at night, it may appear in broad daylight, in nightmares that seem more real than reality. What year is it? Somehow it doesn’t seem to matter. Pain is just another symptom of fear in a lopsided life that balance eludes. Check mate. Connie Marcum Wong

Connie, just got to read your reply. I'm sorry I'm late with my replies. Sorry too, to hear about your husband's illness and that the poem is based on true events. Hang in there. I see that many are praying for you and your hubby. Add me to that list then. Keep well. hugs!

What... you have captured the thoughts of one enveloped and overwhelmed with anxiety and panic. Hope this is fiction. Have a peaceful 4th, Connie.

I am anxious because of my husband's illness. I am usually very optimistic, but sometimes worry gets me down, and why I wrote this. Thank you Kim. Hugs, Connie

Well dear poet, thankfully you are the artist ! I've been around artists all of my life, and of all the artists I've known, we have all found the tight squeeeeze through that lil' opening at its end called bright ! I look at that lil' avatar of your's, and I see a huge smile ! Love it I do ! An artist's lopside is just another medium for picture; another share to cause wonder and wander, intriguingly wonderful ! Have a great 4th Connie.....much love, james

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us, Connie. Panic stations do occur when life comes down somewhat hard on us. Pressing a panic button will not save the situation; staying calm and resorting to faith and hope are the right solutions. Watch out for the lifeline...it could be thrown by those who keep you and yours in their prayers. Take care. hugs // paul

Excellently written, Connie! You captured the anxiety and panic that can well up within, rather suddenly sometimes, very well. A 7 from me :)

The imagery and shear power of your words are impressively seasoned by the use of strong emotions and a descriptive vocabulary that pierce the heart like daggers. Emile. #7

Thank you very much Eve. I have been awakened by my own terrified screams past few weeks and it is disconcerting. My faith is stronger than the fear though. Blessings, Connie

This is a very sad write, my dear. I feel the despair. I've felt this despair often. I hope that you feel hope break through the darkness. Thank you for your visit to my work. It's always a pleasure to hear from you. Hugs

My husband's illness is where the stress is coming from and the full moon makes it more difficult. Actually I am doing okay. Thanks Eileen. Hugs, Connie

Connie, this one feels despairing. I know the feeling this one shows. All to well, but you are like me. We just go on.We are happy women. I hope you are not feeling too much this way. hard to know with us poets when we are going overboard with our poetic license. Anyway, this is well written free verse.

Yes,I have been very very busy, Connie, I wrote SIX poems while here already. They do absolutely nothing except watch Fox news all day long. I think their brains are turning to mush. I laid out a few times and wrote poems. I can't get to my hotmail but am having fun emailing from Soupmails and getting in lots of comments, especially when everyone goes to bed around 9 p.m even my dopey husband. hahaha. Let me read this now!!
