How to Grow Violets - BBC Gardeners World Magazine

I love spring Violets, sweet five petalled beauties; the flower of my birth, easy going like me; just pop the seeds in earth ! I love spring Violets, nectar for buzzing bees; they like the sun or shade, perfect in rock gardens; I am sad when they fade ! I love spring Violets, they grow in the wild too; precious spots of color, and they sure like to spread; can be called a crawler ! Beautiful with a twinge of sad reality in the last line, Constance. Congratulations on your win. I used to give my mother a violet for Mother's Day each year. One has survived, divided and graces my kitchen - still blooms! Blessings to you!

I had that problem until I bought a violet pot where the planted violet pot sits in a second pot that contains water. Seemed to solve my overwatering problem! Now, I just have to remember to put water in the outer pot on a weekly basis. Have found Monday is a good day to water violets, orchids, daphne and other potted plants that don't require lots of water. Blessings! BTW - happy birthday this month!

Sam, thank you so much for the compliment, comment and congratulations, although Violets are my birth flower I have never been lucky at growing and maintaining them, I seem to always overwater (an issue I tend to have, in general) blessings ~Constance
