Unexpected Treasures

Unexpected they come to brighten our day Treasures unsolicited, but welcome, nonetheless, Igniting again the sparkle in our drooping eyes From whence they come no one can tell, or Predict how long they will grace the happy heart These sudden bursts of good things, good news, Good moments--rather rare, and never in a single Day, I think, while by some coincidence they might And blessed be such an extraordinary occurrence In pairs--elusive joy and unexpected pleasure. Thank you for sharing a poem that helps your readers concentrate on the positives of the day that are often overlooked. We all need to concentrate on the positives to help us handle the negatives as they occur.

Gail, this is certainly true. I wish our days could be more positive than negative, but it is a struggle. Thanks for your read and for your well-taken comments.

I try to give myself at least two hours of fun a day, so I can bear the world. However, I do not listen to the news. This helps me retain my positivity. "These sudden bursts of good things, good news," - I like this.

Thanks, Caren. I hear you. Your comments are always welcomed and meaningful to me. I try to stay in touch with what's going on in the world, but sometimes my morning news read consists only of the headlines from different sources. I have friends who have just given up on news!

I can think of so many instances of the little joys you describe, which are so precious. The snowdrops in my yard gave me a joyful feeling recently. Your poem is lovely. :)

I agree Milton. Though we need to be aware of the atrocities of life we do need to hear, see and read something uplifting too. Great job here. god Bless, JB

I agree with you, L Milton; there are moments when we can open ourselves to what would be best in our lives. When we remove some of each, we still keep a lot of everything. A very authentic poem, Best wishes.

I think we have to be receptive to acknowledge the best of times, Milton. A little good and a little bad always seem to mix together, but I would choose to find "elusive joy and unexpected pleasure" in each new day. Best wishes, carolyn
