Spending her birthday upon such a wonderful ship at sea. The six-year-old was as happy as she could possibly be. Her dad had bought her a wonderful doll with golden hair. She was delighted and took her new doll everywhere. The waiters in the main dining room even gave it a chair. All knew the lovely doll was hers, as she carried it around. A happier more fun-loving child, you wouldn’t have found. Somehow panic set out among people and crew on the ship. Mother said to run with her to the deck, be careful not to trip. The floor was wet, she held tight so she would not slip. On the deck some were crying, and the band was playing. Confusing to a six-year-old, close to Mother, she was staying. Where is Father, and where is my doll? She began to cry. “I must go back and find her.” Mother wouldn’t let her, but “Why?” “Please mother let me get my doll” Sorry child I must deny.” They were pushed into a small boat and lowered into the sea. Looking back at the ship she saw Father waving goodbye sadly. Mother said he would look after her doll until they met again. As the big ship went out of sight, she looked for Father in vain. No doll replaced the one lost. The name Titanic brought distain.

What a touching narration.... dear SV. Sad old memories are revived and also the thoughts of those explorers who perished in the depths of the ocean in their recent expedition to Titanic .Through the story of the lost doll, you have revived an epic tale of loss and death.

Its not a nice story Valsa but I guess the loss of a doll is sad to any little girl. Such a tragedy that so many men and "dads" were unable to be saved when that fated ship was sunk. Thanks for your comment Valsa, its appreciated.

Your story is moving, I could imagine it as if a cinematic movie. The picture is stunning and also tells what has happened to the doll. Brilliant!

Thanks Charlotte, To make up for not having poetic flair for discriptive passages, I try to always think of a unique way of telling a story through rhyming Poetry.

Such an original take on the disaster from a little girl's point of view and an outwardly composed mother's silent heartbreak. A winner! Robert

The unexpected twist at the end adds to its allure. The skillful employment of rhyme and the poignant depiction of the various tragedies experienced that day make for an engaging read. I thoroughly enjoyed it and wish you the best of luck in the contest, my friend.

Thanks Bill, originally I intended for the doll to be found, but realism won out, as the chances of it being returned to her were not fathomable. Glad it brought some enjoyment. So nice of you to comment. Your walk with Sara was a memorable piece of poetry. A compliment to have a fine poet such as yourself comment.
