If you can't trust an AI checker then trust your own eyes. Sung to the tune of That's Amoré *_*_*_*_*
If the rhythm is on like the beat of a drum That's AI And you see clever metaphor the likes never seen before That's AI Nothing said is too deep that you'd lose one ounce of sleep That's AI No grammatical mistakes to keep you awake That's AI So don't trust generic theme that weaves you into a scene (Everybody) Because it's AI

Thanks Jan, just a little alternative resource for anyone who can't spot an original, inspired is the way to go and the way we've enjoyed happily x

So clever...gets you thinking. Though the metaphor maybe hard to nail...good poets always try for an original and new metaphor....though the voice is probably a dead give away. Good one and so topical DD.

Thank you Paul - the AI checker apps has a hotly debated moment in time. They do work but there's other flags and generally a poet voice has consistency with itself. I've found several AI poems quite lovely but I'd never find it lovely that someone would make out it's their own work and emotion that went into a poem and take the credit. You can't claim to be a baker because you pick a cake out of a shop window (even if you described a cake that you wanted). It was a relief to see your poem get POTD, sense restored!

Loved the poem and it had me thinking…in order to invent a tool that generates AI the makers of such must have plagiarised many a works in the first place. I’m sometimes slow thinking about things like that. :) Cheers - Gary

I like your angle - plagiarism via cheating! I suppose the machine use enough jumbling of words and algorithms of speech to say it differently but it is parroting and not emoting. Glad you like this - just feels like too much AI is slipping through. I can't fathom for the life of me why people want to lie about their emotions and personal creativity. It rules them out for me. Thanks for your comment.

Perhaps an alternative to PS could be designed for people who seek attention without the need to deceive, with their very own theme tune That's Amoré or Old Macdonald had a farm AI AI O ? I had many poems with grammatical errors, I was confused but put it down to poetic licence, or just the fact I couldn't write. AI tends to have none or minimal errors. Enjoyed trying to singalong even at the ripe old age of 123, sorry I do like to exaggerate or do I ?

I'm pretty sure all the AI is killing the art of poetry sharing, like you say, because of deception. Other sites allow AI but label it as such. Authenticity is at the heart of poetry, well, certainly at the heart of the poetry I like. So accepting praise on machine generated text is a con job and people don't feel good post con. I'm sure smaller circles of genuine poets will see me through. Thanks for your comment and sing along - maybe the AI people are the types to just mouth the words too... I'm not a fan :)

I think PS keeps getting better and better. There's been a paradigm shift, slow but sure. Negativity is out. Positivity and peace are in. The tide has clearly turned

It's ironically easier than cut and paste haha :) glad you liked it, I just thought PS needed an alternative to AI checkers. Thanks for your comment - the song does get stuck in your head :)

I wish I could block AI. Is there an app for that? This is a poem that is needed in every office and classroom.

It has it's uses summarising text and figuring stuff out but not poetry. Thanks for your comment x

when I think of AI poems I remember commander Data's poem Ode To Spot from Star Trek Next Gen, it's perfect and technically efficient but invokes no emotion whatsoever, hopefully I'm not AI because what I've been churning out lately is quite daft and nonsense, btw good poem D

I mean I definitely check every now and then just in case I am AI - each time I'm still human I feel relieved. I wouldn't waste my time and everyone else's posting AI. It's such an insult and can never end well surely? I just don't understand. The short term gain is so hollow. You are original Clive, coming up with essential thoughts we didn't know needed thinking until you did :)
Date: 7/15/2024 2:24:00 PM
I see you have made your own AI song lol.. Now I agree with all your points, but not metaphors.. I dont think AI can come up with unique metaphors, only those overused and seen as clichés.. Love your poem thought.. nice rhythm

They should be good but are lacking - describing a feeling without soul or originality. It nails it sometimes though. Thanks for the compliment :)

DD, a great poem. it's sad these days that people just can't be authentic and have to use AI to write poems.

It's a different thing - it's not even poetry by numbers. It's a TV dinner, a tattoo transfer, ahh, I can't think of another (I could ask AI but I'll just let my list be unfinished haha) thanks for your comment

I enjoyed reading your creative "The Scoop" write. Looks like AI is here to stay. A writer writes because they feel or see something. An AI writes  because they are made to write. It is toooooooo Bad AI came to the writing world. True Writers Write On... Have a blessed day writing away....................

I suppose it's no different than sending a greetings card rather than writing the sentiment yourself. Picking it out is nice but never as nice as a heart felt message and I wouldn't be pleased if the hallmark message was handwritten and passed off as their own... It's needs labelling as AI, then we'd know if it was what we want to engage with.

Your poem to the tune of that's amore is perfect Dilly ,to be honest if folk use AI or plagiarise poems they are only cheating themselves as others can see through the facade. Sadly soup is going down the plug hole and I hope they will be very choosy and careful of poems submitted to the next anthology. Many of my poems are often pooopy so I doubt AI could do it lol:-) hugs jan xx

Maybe once it affects engagement and how many people see the ads they'll realise the downhill trajectory all the AI is causing. People will be less comfortable reading and connecting if they think they'll be made a fool of by buying into computer generated work. I'm not talking about one poet here. I know of several. The ones with distinct poetic styles stand out as not AI and they also miraculously come out as human with the checker :)

That's amore! Dean compares Italian food to amore "Like a big pizza pie" a simile. Yes, poetic style and voice are key opponents. It's a study for me. You said it all in a nutshell. The metaphors with obscure factual references throughout and would take an age to weave together. I've been testing all AI detectors they give you 7 free bees, I've used up mine. lol.

Haha, that's amore! https://quillbot.com/ai-content-detector I like that one, PS is even better, with new faces, and many changes I awaited now for some time. It was worth the wait, Dilly. Best, https://gptzero.me/!

Bells will ring ting-a-ling-a-ling, ting-a-ling-a-ling! I think they reset - I'm able to use several without signing up: https://gptzero.me/ (this is the one Poetry Soup advocate and sent to members - I haven't had any false readings), then https://quillbot.com/ai-content-detector seems fine, https://www.scribbr.co.uk/ai-detector/, then loads more. Some point out what AI hallmark's it has too - like the rhythm, overly precise metaphor and lack of real depth. I mean I certainly don't want to make a habit out of checking but I had an AI entry to my contest and it's pretty obvious what's AI, this just confirms it.

Just to state my intentions clearly. I do not wish for the comment thread to be a battle ground or where evidence is presented or disputed. Merely that people can make up their own minds on which poems are genuinely written.

given the fact that "people"(loosely defined) have purchased "art works" made by monkeys, elephants painting with their trunks, and pictures of a tomato soup can, a brand name but still a soup can....well.....AI just threatened me call he "soupmaster"

They've purchased 'invisible' art too John. Art gets you thinking, AI gets you feeling more like your intelligence has been insulted than an elephants artwork ever would :)

Ah its so obvious when we see ai generated poems, its perfectly metered cliches. The first line explains ai poems so well! Metaphors well i used acrobatic metaphors sometimes when my hazy mind just bleeds it bleeds in strange ways, haha. I dont use the ai checker to see if a poem is ai generated, i can tell from the lines, altho some like to mix ai rhymes with other lines. I havent been on soup much reading. is there more ai poems circulating around here? Such a disappointment, really

It does come through very easily and the AI checkers actually don't seem to be too bad. I wouldn't take them as absolute but they give a fair indication if considered with the above. It's more the metaphors with obscure factual references throughout and would take an age to weave together.

I did name this and decide to post after reading yours haha. I woke up with it in my head this morning after reading of people's dilemmas with the AI checkers and being concerned they weren't accurate. There's a much similar way of checking for AI and that's to read the poem :) or maybe there's just a lot of practice available here...
