The Poet's Ego

I have found no understanding of why Or any truth to all that is or was Grow distant from each day that passes by And wear cloth woven from what my mind does It chooses visions from the past to cease With answers to questions, I can absorb To expose a dark soul, I know the least Chained in the abyss of yesterday's orb My ego will not be fuel to consume Nor complain that I've given it no worth The cause and reasons that make it immune Are from years I've spent since my birth This insight I share as to what and why Reveals an ego I won't glorify 8/20/17 contest The Poet's Ego

You are a wise man, Frederic. Thank you for sharing this wisdom with us. It would be a better place to live in if all felt as you do. Ego must be reigned in for peace to reign.

An ego clashes with humility, and even if the ego wins, humility will be rewarded. Your values are presented in this one, Frederic. Well wishes to you.
