The Heart

Rhythmic pounding in my chest, Constant beating without rest. This is the plight of ever heart, Pumping blood is its biggest part. Physical attributes I see. There still seems more, at least to me. Sometimes it seems to love and feel. Does it have values, are they real? Some think it’s true that it can melt, It also can be as soft as felt. These are the things at times I’ve heard, Many of which I have concurred. After the physical there’s more, Other heart functions to explore.

I saw on a TV program that the human heart can got into a form of heart failure when the person is grieving. The effects of it will show on a EKG and a sonagram of the heart. So our emotions definitely effect the heart. Amazing isn't it. When someone gets deeply in stress, the heart will actually hurt. Thanks for sharing this one with us and for dropping by my page. Sara

Well, I would like to think that some have a Heart of a Lion. Good philosophical points raised, Bill: "Sometimes it seems to love and feel./Does it have values, are they real?"

Hey, great one, Bill. I hear that 'Scientific American' magazine is interested in auditioning you for its resident poet!! (They actually have one now). Seriously, do we know even 10% of what the heart (and the brain) contain? Take care, Gershon

I doubt we know even ten percent, Gershon. We humans think we are so smart, but we've only scratched the surface of knowing it all. Thanks for the visit ,my friend. Bill

I like the symbolic aspect of this although for me, emotions are in the realm of the soul, and sadly, brain injuries or other aspects of the brain control emotions

I like the cute picture you changed to. :-) The heart plays a giant roll in who we are. There were too many different thoughts running though my head to put them all in one poem, I'll address more of the heart later. May the sun always shine on your side of the street! Bill

Heart is the most vital organ in the human body. It pounds and beats without rest. It is strong and soft at the same time. It can be hard like rock, but can melt like wax. You have brought in the salient features of the human heart in your great sonnet, dear Bill.
