The Garden Party

Down the lane Wisteria danced sweet Violet. Happily, she sashayed, then made a pirouette. Since it was a special day, she was filled with glee, knowing at a party soon all her friends she’d see. Clustered blooms of blue and white twined around a gate where the hostess, Lavender, had begun her wait. Greeted warmly, Violet entered, and the first thing she saw to dazzle her was a color burst. . . Roses red as they can be, Bluebells bluest blue, Lilies white and posies pink, of the brightest hue! But her best friends were the ones gathered there to dine that sipped on nectar of the grape-their hue the most divine! Lovely Amethyst was there. So was Mauve, her chum. Then Magenta soon waltzed in with their close friend Plum. Languid Lavender, light-skinned, and Pastel, a gal also fair, sat chatting with Lilac, their best pal. Kin of lavender had come, more than just a few. . . Old Lavender, dressed in lace, covered her grey hue. Close relatives like Rose and even Pink were there Bright and Brilliant Lavender showed up as a pair! Violet, arriving late, mingled with each guest, looking for the ones with whom she’d relate to best. So it was she dined with two though not quite her hue: Indigo, a tad more blue; Periwinkle too! I do love this. All the shades of blue and purple are there. Very, very nice. This should be in a children's book of colors. Wouldn't that be a great idea. God Bless, JB
