Ten Year Anniversary At Poetry Soup
This place of poetry where I reside -
it will have been a decade by this year’s end
since, as a favor for a friend, I first came here.
In need of consolation too, I came to seek new friends.
It was a time, 2009, when I had to pivot
and face a new direction in my poetic life.
To think that I could dare to share the podium
with well-known writers well established here!
It seemed like a mirage,
but I pictured a shining path in front of me.
So great was its allure that I worked hard!
Not always delicate, I punged ahead,
pouring out my every emotion,
creating poems for challenges and making new strong bonds.
Non-verbal we poets are NOT.
In my silent reveries of my poet friends' verse,
I sometimes hear their poetry like dulcet melodies inside my head.
The Soup is now a habit and a joy in my life!
This December, right before Christmas, I will celebrate
ten years at Poetry Soup!
