Captain Tom Moore was 99 when he decided to raise some money for the NHS charity as a way of thanks for all the care that he had been given.

His aim was to walk a hundred laps of his garden before reaching the grand old age of 100.
Local media found out and it went global and Tom became an overnight sensation and was interviewed on local and international radio stations.
He even made a record with singer Michael Ball.
He was a inspiration to everyone in the dark days of covid and raised over thirty million pounds for the NHS charity.
He was knighted by the Queen and given an honoury rank of colonel with his old army regiment.
He was always upbeat and positive saying "the sun will shine on you again, the dark clouds will go away".
Sadly Captain Tom Moore passed away on 2nd February 2021.

Captain Tom was an inspiration and became an overnight celebrity Walked with the aid of a frame raising thirty million pounds for charity He was ninety nine years old and was knighted by the Queen And was affectionately known as a one man fund raising machine. What a way to go Tom, at 100 we would expect to go out in a whimper, but the captain went out in a whirlwind of public adulation from people of all ages even schoolchildren, covid needed a hero and a war veteran stepped out to boost a nations morale, just goes to show it’s never over til it’s over, maybe humanities best is left til last after all, great epitaph, cheers David
