Captain Tom Moore was 99 when he decided to raise some money for the NHS charity as a way of thanks for all the care that he had been given.
His aim was to walk a hundred laps of his garden before reaching the grand old age of 100.
Local media found out and it went global and Tom became an overnight sensation and was interviewed on local and international radio stations.
He even made a record with singer Michael Ball.
He was a inspiration to everyone in the dark days of covid and raised over thirty million pounds for the NHS charity.
He was knighted by the Queen and given an honoury rank of colonel with his old army regiment.
He was always upbeat and positive saying "the sun will shine on you again, the dark clouds will go away".
Sadly Captain Tom Moore passed away on 2nd February 2021.
