Seed, Environment, Universe
I
If you accept your environment
You become the universe too
Much as fish and whale do
One cannot talk of a marine creature
Its zest, zeal, lust for life and vim
If you have fished it out of water
A fish eats, drinks, lives its sea-universe -
Whales never abuse oceans because of their size!
II
If I fully identify with earth and cosmos
I will be a steward, feel its pain
When polluted and abused, would own
The pain and inseparability
For we cannot live apart, cannot be
But the seed which hides within its husk
All the information in the universe
How to use photon, atom, timespace
Produce sapling, hard bark, leaves, flowers, fruit
Yet hide in them, posterity
Every unborn leaf and tree, unto eternity
What happens to a spurned seed?
It may seek the tiniest dirt on earth
Grow on, stunted yet showing love and life
Or some seeds will die with potential unseen
Just so with the human being
We are seeds of the Universe, hidden within
Stories of past, present, future – all time,
All of the Cosmos, just as Jesus
Declared, like a grain of wheat, I must die
To allow others, seeds, to create ‘heaven’
As they, too, die - to self?
