Hard for me to imagine this one bill, we’ve had record rainfall over here all summer, but on the whole I count my blessings I certainly don’t want to see this stark haiku outside my window, brilliantly written as it is, cheers David

It gets a lot worse here in Texas, especially in the summer heat. Over 100 degrees except for two cooler days (at 98) in the last month here. Glad your weather is better, or at least wetter. :-) Have a great week! Bill

Such a powerful haiku this is , it is impressive that a haiku can describe and depict such intense and strong imagery of a scorching summer in just few syllables. I especially love the “ leaves curl up burnt to a crisp” even in summer we get to see leaves drying from the sun and you’ve described that so vividly. So good to read your words, i hope to read more in the future

My trees too, very alarming, isn't it? I am worried about two of our trees, doing just like the photo you shared. Scary. Even the saguaros in AZ are suffering; even they are getting too hot! :(

:-( I agree, BJ. Thanks for the visit and comment. I was stationed in Tucson, while in the Air Force and have family in Phoenix. Az like Tx Can get extremely hot. Have a great weekend! Bill

My friend a truly fine haiku about the hot, hot weather. Such that is very tough on man, beast and plants. Yet Mother Nature will do as it wishes. We are just useless interfering baggage to Mother Nature my friend. God bless.

Need I tell anyone about Phoenix...? I have seen this, in fact, watched it happen real-time--my poor basil. Excellent Haiku. Blessings my friend.

Such a great Haiku, Dear Bill. You are in Texas - I can imagine (I have visited Texas before) the scorching heat...but being in Canada, I envy your weather. And the picture is just perfect! Best wishes ~ Mala

Such a wonderful haiku, Bill. Your creation describes what happens in our part of Texas during July and August...been that way for as long as I remember. Still, I have difficulty watching the trees succumb to the heat as well as the flowers and plants in our garden. Well done, my westside writing bear! hugs from your eastside writing bear

I'm in Texas, we had a cool spell pop through for two days (it only got up to 98 degrees). Only days under 100 for a month. Heat rating is 114 today. Can't wait for Fall. :-) Thanks for the visit and comments, Michelle. Bill

The extremes of our weather can be so harsh, even cruel at times, and your poem describes it so eloquently Bill. Most enjoyed.

Bill, truly sadly so. A hard time for so many, but so much harder to see all other living beings (& “thing”) suffering through compassionate hearts & eyes, esp. as poets may…i think perhaps even some trees may sense our feeling sadness for their suffering. A mystery indeed. Hoping you & yours are staying cool. I’m 1 day post op. Ouch. Xoxo sallu

Take care of yourself, Sally. I'll pray your recovery goes well. You're right, poets do tend to feel more of the emotions and pain of others. Thanks for the visit and comments, my friend. Bill
