Poem originally written for my friend Anna

They say one only can be wise, If able to mathematize. But what really underlies, Is the failure to alphabetize. Our numbers are arabicized, A language to be more precise. So is everything programmized, Just language, oversimplified. So maths freaks, wouldn’t it be wise To speak in poems, homogenize, Don’t let us feel lobotomized Let’s feel the love, romanticize! *** April 14, 2017 Copyright © Darren White

A predicament nicely thematized. Darren, you've wittily lobotomized MATH. I enjoyed reading it:) By the way, these Arabic numerals are of Indian origin, as you may know.

It was like a comet just landed on my mind. LOVE IT!!! And Thanks for giving credit to the Arabic language. These days it seems that it's ok to kick people off planes for speaking Arabic--yet the fools don't know how it's influenced our own culture.

'afwan, Elle :) And yes, you're totally right. The fear that is programmed into us is quite ridiculous. Thank you for liking my poem.

You put a thinking cap on for this one. Or someone could write a poem using numerology symbols of letters for numbers. It could be quite mysterious!

Yes, Darren! It would be so much wiser to speak in poems. I just wrote a very simple one 'Quel nouveau monde?' about Christopher Colombus first voyage and i was stunned to see how people responded on the French poetry site I come from. It raised many questioned and we had a great exchange:)

There is poetry in numbers, great entrancing mansions of color, graceful flying arabesques and sinuous spiraling declines to earth. We are almost all programmed for language, but less for mathematics.

Okay, yeah.... The "pure science" thing of math.... Well, different strokes for different folks, or as they say in dear old Blighty (and apparently, the land of Oz), it's "horses for courses." Some may find poetry in math, but if they miss out on the poetry in, for example, poetry, then too bad.

There is, but there is also a lot of contentment in making fun of some scholars who see everything that does not involve pure math or physics as something inferior :) My friend and I were ridiculing that attitude.
