I stood trembling and I needed to speak words with no weeping but my heart was broken and as I stood there holding many pages written a soft breeze caressed my hair and there was a great hush in the church an anticipation ... oh, I was lost in a sea of faces waiting and butterflies were flying within me as I took a deep breath and began speaking in a low voice I felt a strength within me building a power filled me ... and my voice became louder, louder, louder then, suddenly a strong breeze whirled around me and all my pages written went fluttering away they floated all about the church like white doves oh, I watched in shock ... confused the drums of time rolled and from a blue vase petals of a rose dropped then . . . then I was speaking of my love and affection and I realized that I never needed written pages for what I needed to share was written in my heart's temple_ _____________________ July 10, 2022 Poetry/Free Verse/pages written Copyright Protected, ID 07-1472-736-10 All Rights Reserved, 2022, Constance La France Written for the Standard contest, A Brian Strand Premiere Choice sponsor, Brian Strand, Judged 07/13/2022 Fifth Place

Mark, thank you so much for the compliment on my poem and comment, actually it is written from an actual event, my grandma's funeral, where I was asked to speak because we were very close, she is the reason I am a writer today, blessings ~Constance
