On Grandpa's Farm

grandpa’s long dirt lane between glorious corn fields - (where we found delights) today is paved and seems so short . . . Where have all the berries gone? Aug. 13, 2022 For JCB Brul's Childhood Nostalgia Poetry Contest

Each line is perfect, then the last is the berry on top! Nice set up of contrast: paved/berry. Enjoyed! Elizabeth

I love it when you write about your "grandpa's farm." Brings back memories of my grandparent's summer house. I also love the poignant comment on the ways progress intrudes on something so precious as a rural farm setting. Congratulations! Blessings.

Isn't it sad what we've done to the past? And how things that seemed so big have shrunk...I love your poem, Andrea. Congratulations on First!

Excellent! Love this! When I was little, the woods behind my house seemed big but not so when I was older. Congratulations on your win!

Being fond of farms and corn, that last line delighted me.

Is the dirt lane really paved now? I haven't been back to see our Grandparents home for ages, but the last time I went it seemed the same.

Don't give it away, jenny. I was using poetic license to show it radically changed. Haha actually the whole place looks SO different. The house totally different. And it seemed so small to me compared to how it seemed when we were young

It reminds us that development comes with a price. What was there we love as a child becomes a memory only. Lovely expressed. :) Sunita UPD
