Making Unusual Friends
**********
I once met a blue jay named Flyer
Who hoped to be part of the choir
When asked "Do a solo!"
His voice warbled too low
So he solos from trees that are higher
He sat by a sparrow named Boris
Who sang quite off-key in the chorus
They gave him a chance
To sing from a branch
As long it's out in the forest!
The birds gathered in the church steeple
Complaints came from all the church people
They couldn't delete them
They couldn't defeat them
So decided to be more congenial
Bird singers were much too afraid
To be baptized, rather than bathe
While they declined to dip
They were willing to sip
But wonderful friendships were made !
The birds gathered in the bird-bath
They watched pretty butterflies pass
They couldn't delete them
By trying to eat them
"Would you like to join us?," they asked!
The butterflies were also afraid
But loved watching birds as they bathed
They declined to dip
So just took one sip
And wonderful friendships were made !
