When fallacious friends fail and break you in two let me be the one- to help you feel worthy and whole And when slithering serpents slander your name let me be the one- to defend it and stand by your side When your lioness libido lets loose let me be the one- to send you to the moon and beyond (again and again) And when tender tears of joy trickle softly let me be the one- to share in those moments of bliss When worrisome woes of this world drag you down let me be the one- to offer you hope and a dream And when dismal depression ends in collapse let me be the one- to rise up and set you on high Yes, my love, let me be the one to be your always and everything- forever *simple Sunday scribble

Hi Tom, in your 'simple scribble' there is so much of love and concern for your beloved. We all need others' support on moments when we become helpless. In moments of joy too, it is so heartening to find someone sharing our joy and rejoicing with us. Man is essentially gregarious and he longs for companionship. Blessed is the one who has a friend/partner who extends a helping hand when needed. This is so heartfelt. If a woman gets this sort of an assurance from her man, it will be heaven for her. Beautiful poem sparkling with the love of a doting partner.

This is a very good poem. It reminds me of "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" by Paul Simon. Friendship is often undervalued and overlooked.

It's beautiful Tom, the sentiments, the words, the feeling of lift brought on by each "let me be the one," and the slight tumble of the pause that follows. I like how in each verse you ask for permission to help, but with the italics at the end, it's damn clear that's what you're going to do. (You knight in shining armor, You.)
