Jagged
Amid the jagged boughs of the paperback maple,
Sturdy, snow-resistant pallid often peeling trunk
I mostly admired the green trees in the winter cold
I rested on a hill till eternal darkness sunk.
The urge to search for her was insatiable as I
Rested against the tree, memories of lips had been.
It should have been our wedding day, alas, but she died.
For she stumbled into a deep snow-covered ravine.
Irresistible heartbroken tears fell down my cheeks,
Could I bring her back from where her kind soul is hidden?
Sweetheart, come back to me please, I shout, hoping she'll hear.
Words echoed around. Guard told me it was forbidden.
Echoes could cause an avalanche with jagged branches.
I prayed to God to save all. There should be no chances.
