Listen to poem:

BE NICE AT HALLOWEEN

Trick or treaters were having a good time
Grumpy Joe said you aren't getting a dime
He swore then he went inside
Kids were upset and some cried
So, on his porch they threw foul smelling slime...

     THANKSGIVING HORROR

For Thanksgiving Pete asked Sue to his house
For eats he had ice cream, turkey, and grouse
Sue let out a loud scream
When out of the ice cream
A small head appeared t'was a baby mouse...

     CHRISTMAS  DISASTER

Fred went with pals for a Christmas curry
Felt pains and said guys "I've got to hurry"
But Fred was left enraged
All the loos were engaged
Felt warmth as his trousers filled with slurry...

Oh, who said holidays were perfect and fun, I love them, but at Christmas I always feel broke and exhausted. :0) Fa la la la la la la la la This was a funny poem and I can certainly see why it won. It made me smile and chuckle

A fun and enjoyable set of holiday limericks Tom. I struggle with this form, you are very good at them. If it was a turkey curry I guess you could say the turkey got its revenge lol. Emilia : )

Tom, you are really good at limericks. I have always enjoyed yours. The one thing that amazes me is how you choose the apt pictures. I love the last one the most.

Thank you very much Valsa, sometimes I spend more time looking for pictures than the time spent writing the poem, I've got a background changing app so I can add things and even put myself on them. Tom

Dear tom, i love the first one the most, as thats the only festive time i actually enjoy, i am not into holidays, and hype of festive days, and i can imagine this grumpy joe haha! How sad for the kids! They surely knew how to deal with someone like joe though, clever kids. Love the picture also youv used for that limerick, the rest of your limericks too are very well written and flows with brilliant rhymes. Im sure you will do well: best wishes! I would like to challenge myself to be funny and write some limericks but my sense of humor is strange: lol Sending you light always~

Thank you very much IE, I'm happy you enjoyed the humour. Id never written a limerick until I joined soup, to me poetry was all rhyme, that said it is my favourite form, old habits die hard. Tom
