Going With the Flow

Some thoughts on the subject of going with the flow. Some different viewpoints that you may want to know. Don’t fight against the current it knows where it should go. It avoids the obstacles dashing to and fro. How should we see a person going with the flow? They may be seen as lazy or even just slow. Pitching the oars in the river, nothing to do. Kickback in the boat and just see what will ensue. Life requires joining our energy with others, Let the current be our sisters and our brothers. Tap into the consensus, set our goals anew. Take a deeper look into other people’s view. Acknowledge my thoughts are not better than the rest. Accept the composite of the group’s thoughts are best. Going with the flow is turning me into we, Allows the current to be what it’s meant to be.

Such beautiful thoughts on something which usually has a negative connotation. It is not just floating over directionless like a log over the water or being indifferent and passive to the forces that pull us, but being one with others to pull the oars together to paddle to safe destinations, to listen to others' viewpoints and accept them if you find them good. What wonderful thoughts Bill . This goes into my FAVE.

You have a good memory of the Bible, Jennifer. I think the verse you are referring to says, " When two are more are gathered in my name, there I will be also." Well Bill to each the choice, which flow which Current? such thought I voice' many voices Competing now; look into God's word His content is really the only how.! BTW a few points.. David danced in the ephod Opening himself to ridicule.. Good one Bill. These days it’s too easy to be coerced almost, to not be you.Being an individualist is not really acceptable! But that’s nothing new in history! The Nazis fell in love with Hitler. As an individual you should always be you, but in a relationship or in a group, it is necessary to form a consensus of what is best for the whole. IMHO. I'm not suggesting giving in and going against your beliefs, more minor differences is more what I was trying to convey. Thanks for the inout and your support of my poetry, Panagiota. Yes sometimes its easier to go with the flow and go where the current stirs you to go. Sometimes its best to be a strong salmon and hold your own, other times, join the school of fish, only we know where to go, nicely penned Bill, clear thought and brave !

Hi Bill, a wonderful piece of poetry. I follow the flow, only until it goes against my principles, then I follow my own road. Being easy going I don't go on my own way too often. I love the flow and rhyme of this piece and the message comes across well. It would be nice if we could all flow in the same direction. This world would be a much better place. Join the flow ~ if it be in alignment with love. Interestingly, in any spiritual practice, surrender is the key, thus going with the flow. But of course, that surrender is to the divine energy

What a spectacular rendering and explanation of that phrase 'going with the flow.' As you so eloquently said, 'going with the flow' frequently has a negative connotation and people often misuse it to justify laziness. In fact, 'going with the flow' has a higher meaning offering one a chance to put ego aside allowing to be guided by that which is bigger than any one of us. Well said.
