Escaping the Land of Never
I slipped into the land of never
sometime ago
a land of nothingness
pitch black night, tormented
a beleaguered mind
all the time.
Caught up in cobwebbed thoughts
hope was lost, torn and tossed
whirlwinds of doubts
never to love
never to hope
never to dream.
Sometimes, I have heard faint
bell chimes, melodious rhymes
reminding me of hopeful times
that echo out from the
canyons of long ago.
Sometimes, I think
I can escape
the land of never.
Lately, I have dreamed of
a land of always
and the sometimes
begin to fade away.
I determine to climb out
from the mire of never
and venture forth toward
the sweet music of always.
As I leave a trail of doubts
behind, I move onward
toward the summit
of those melodious chimes.
The road leads me to
a rugged cross
high upon a desolate peak
where a blood stained
sacrifice was made.
Here I stand, on sacred
ground, here in this land of
always, where I have
always been loved
always been forgiven
always been cleansed.
Here is where I will stay
as I look forward to
that day, when I will
always be with Him.
