flying over Gulf of Mexico
tranquil emerald expanse,
not going to stop until
I reach Canada - country blessed
with bounty of Nature!
thrilled to meet my friends - Robin,
and Oriole, Geese and Ducks,
also white-throated Sparrow,
chanting - My Sweet Canada,
Canada, Canada !
my destination, a gorgeous recluse,
where Tulips and Hydrangea bloom
in all their splendour - butterflies kiss
ravishing roses - I meet my best friend,
my visionary Poet!
she waits for me all snowy winter
long - she waits for the rendezvous
of Spring birds - Kildeer, Mallard Duck,
Red-winged Blackbird, and for me -
Ruby-throated Hummingbird!
her golden pen longing for Spring…
to portray a serene picture
when her adored muse will soar
across the aquamarine water.. nature’s
symphony fills the mystic air!
I can't disappoint my beloved damsel,
she is my bard, with a quill
created of enchanting dreams,
singing melodies at vermillion dawn,
serenading divine hymns.
she and I converse to each other,
about the crimson days.. those
are gone…she holds me gently on her delicate
palm, pensively sways on a dainty swing…
reminiscences are our bond !
Notes: The ruby-throated hummingbird is a species of hummingbird that generally spends the winter in Central America, Mexico, and Florida, and migrates to Canada and other parts of Eastern North America for the summer to breed. It is by far the most common hummingbird seen east of the Mississippi River in North America.
During migration, some birds embark on a nonstop 900-mile journey across the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean from Panama or Mexico to the eastern United States.
