“The occurrence of wild daffodils is sometimes said to indicate the former site of a spiritual hub. In some folklore, daffodils are considered lucky flowers. In particular, there’s a tradition that if you make the deliberate effort not to step on them and crush them, fortune will favor you with abundance.” (www.learnreligions.com/daffodil-magic-legends-and-folklore)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My passion blooms yellow like the smile of a rising sun. I am spring’s trumpeter announcing spring has begun. I share my charms upon your garden’s earth providing mirth and kissing nature with rebirth. I spend my days dancing with butterflies, humming with the trees and flowers, a beautiful reprise. In the breeze I love to sway imagining I’m performing a famous ballet. I like to make my presence known with a luscious scent all my own. I’m a flora queen and home to the Monarch king together in your garden we reign supreme.
Dear Sara, your poem is as lovely as the Daffodils. I immensely enjoyed reading it. Love the usage- 'spring trumpeter.' Daffodils have trumpet-shaped petals and they announce the arrival of spring. So it has double connotations. Daffodils are indeed 'flora queens' and you have invested them with all royalty, they rightly deserve. All the Best dear friend.
Indeed, you are a lovely flower, Sara. I saw a brand new contest but I think with only eight lines to be used? Also another contest is out there for flowers i think. This should be a great entry!
The eloquent words of tranquility and elegance flow effortlessly from the tender souls of daffodils. They truly embody the exuberance of the early season, just as your poem does. Embrace the profound nature of their messages and artfully harmonize their soothing melodies. Your remarkable personification adds a delightful touch! Sara.
Just gorgeous, Sara. Instant FAVE. It takes a poet's touch to see all that in the heart of a daffodil. Impressive! Flowers an Fragrance, Gershon
I sometimes wonder what the thoughts of flowers would be if we could hear them out loud. That's what poets do, interpret and speak in the voice of nature. It's a god-like thing to hear them and creatively sing their lullaby. Without poets/artists, nature would have no voice. "In the breeze, I love to sway imagining I’m performing a famous ballet." I wonder how adventurous it would be watching all the flowers and plants dance all day, her viewers must be elated. Terrific piece Sara.
